I'm sure I'm being a bit petty but heads up don't buy alcohol here. The woman who just checked us…read moreout was rude, cold and insulting. I tried to joke with her about how I missed my home state of WI and make nice but she was having none of it. She then asked my partner for their ID and we couldn't tell if she was joking but then coldly said if they didn't hand it over we would have to wait outside the store to be checked... whatever that means. She shouldn't be working customer service. So much for the small town WI kindness I used to adore.

Where the "French" am I?!?…read more "So this is where you end up when a few family members pass and you haven't seen the rest of your family in 10 years" said one fellow to another. Of course, this missing teeth, no shirt, cut off shorts wearing guy looks back at you like YOU'RE the one who is crazy, you wonder why you don't keep your thoughts to yourself more. I think I finally understand what country people do when they don't have a tv, they go to the grocery store for entertainment. As I walk through the Piggly... (Sorry, I can't stop laughing when I say their name) trying to find something to eat (having a family of carnivores). Also, TRYING not to be bitten by the wild children running amok, I finally reach their produce area and with my wallet and my fingers still intact. I'm immediately taken back by how low their prices are. I look up to meet all of the staring eyes to confirm this amazement. Then I realize they weren't staring at me because of my reaction to the prices, they have been staring the whole time I've been in the store. It's probably because I'm wearing a shirt and am groomed I figured, so I moved on. I stocked up on all kinds of fresh produce, they had everything and plenty of it. I track down my brother, who had some of the same experiences with the locals like I and we make our way to the liquor area to meet the rest of the family. Their snack isles (yes there is more then one) were impressive but not as impressive as their liquor area. They even have a walk in cooler. Prices unfortunately was pretty much the same as back home so I just got what I needed. My only complaint here are the lines. I couldn't understand what was taking so long until I reached the cashier. I'll be nice but I'll just say that I really wasn't expecting to hear this girl's life story along with her family's and friend's. Each item was scanned but only before a story was told... I wished I ate less. I couldn't help but turn to my brother (who was being picked at by some kid fascinated by his fall jacket Like the kid has never seen one, he tries to brush him off but the kid just won't go away) and I start to laugh a little, as if saying "Is this for real"?!? I will say Piggly Wiggly (hehe) has a great selection and great prices, with service that you'll never forget. Be careful of the parking here, the lot gets a little tricky. You know with people form of transportation like goats, horses, and donkeys** around. **No actual farm animals around

After over 45 years of driving by this place, I decided to stop in. I learned the owner will be…read moreretiring soon and had to stop in. And boy, I am glad I did. Their cheese case has all the regulars but their sandwich board really shines. Not often do you find a braunschweiger sandwich but here you do. I loved it. Reminds me of eating these with my grandfather so many years ago. Old school. No frills. Great price point. Don't forget to try their potato salad-seriously addicting.

For six years I drove past Bieri's Cheese & Deli going down Hwy P between Hwy 145 and Sherman Rd,…read morebut the timing of them being open and me going past rarely worked out. I was heading down Hwy P yesterday and saw they were open, so I pulled over quick and stopped in. In addition to some Cajun cheese curds, sliced cheese, and frozen brats, I ordered a build your own sandwich consisting of a hard roll, turkey, roast beef, muenster cheese, lettuce, and butter. The sandwich was very good. I appreciate that you can build your own in addition to the 12 predefined sandwiches they sell. Muenster is my favorite cheese and butter is far less common to find as a condiment than mayo is at sub/sandwich shops, so I was glad to see both of those were options. I feel like I got a fair amount of turkey and roast beef too. The Sweet Summertime (butter, summer sausage, Colby, and lettuce on wheat bread) sounds awesome, so I'll try that next time. The store isn't super huge, but they manage to have a large selection of cheese to choose from as well as some dry goods and a refrigerator with cheese curds, string cheese, and summer sausage. They do have some sliced meat for sale, but most of the main display case is cheese. A single standing freezer contains a nice selection of locally made brats. Prices are a little higher than what you might find at a big chain grocery store, but the quality is just as good if not better.
