The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches are to die for! Melt in your mouth and so flavorful. Also the candied jalapeños are delicious! They have a small indoor seating area so you can escape the heat on a summer day. And the staff are super kind and helpful. And then there are the sauces! Although I wanted to lick every last drop of sauce from the cups, I resisted. Took them home though, along with an extra bottle of the WHITE SAUCE!! Yep - you can buy the sauces to take home w you. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Went as a group of 3, my buddy had the pulled pork sandwich, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. But my other buddy and I had the brisket, let me tell you, it was excellent. Good flavor, good seasoning. Not over bearing or greasy. Just right. My coworker has been wanting to try this place for a while and thank God we finally did! I hesitantly ordered the brisket sandwich, fearing I would be disappointed by my high expectations. I was not. It was the best brisket I've ever eaten. I ordered it with the red bbq sauce and a side of mac 'n cheese. My coworker ordered the pulled pork sandwich with the white and gold sauce. Ok, I am truly negligent in having not reviewed this place before now! My last name is McCUE, so I like to try any new barbeCUE that opens around town. This place has been open for quite a while and I've been a repeat customer since basically the beginning. Ok, the food: I judge BBQ on pulled pork. I went to under grad school in South Carolina and developed my BBQ palate there, hence the Pork. Theirs is really good, actually pulled strips of recognizable meat, unlike some competition that chops up the pork. The Brisket: chewing optional, so tender! The Ribs are meaty and smokey and huge and delicious. The game changer is the Baby Back Rib Sandwich. OMGawd. I think I've had dreams about this sandwich. It might be the best BBQ sandwich of any kind in the greater Cincinnati area. That's big accolades, but my last name is McCue, and I stand by those words. Toasted bun, they lay probably 3 rib bone section on the bun, then debone it. Served with a cup of coleslaw to put on it (recommended) and a cup of sauce(unnecessary). This sandwich is probably more than you can eat with a side or two. It is SO TENDER and Smokey flavorful, I really can't find enough positive words to describe it. I took a picture (featured here) and sent it to a couple of friends that crapped out on going with me for this sandwich. They were both immediately ashamed that they hadn't gone with me to dinner tonight! I will tell you, these sandwiches are only available on Fridays and Saturdays until sold out. This is a small and fun place for a wide range of barbecued meats. You can have your barbecue on a bun, waffle, toast, salad or just plain. The barbecue ranges from turkey to pork and beef. The sides are a great mix of flavors and unique. Who would've thought to make sweet potato and cauliflower?! They have indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered 3 brisket sandwiches for lunch this week. For me and to others. And we all raved about how good it was. This is a place to go back to you for lunch or dinner, snack, a carry out picnic. The only drawback is no wine or liquor. I visited this new BBQ restaurant a few weeks ago after seeing the glowing reviews. Unfortunately, my experience here was much more muted. I came with my wife and son and we each tried a sampling of the items on the menu. I ordered the pig candy waffle, my wife ordered the pozole and my son ordered the pulled pork sandwich. For sides, we tried the sweet potato cauliflower mash and cheddar grits. We also ordered the carrot cake waffle and the banana pudding. The pig candy waffle was honestly one of the worst combinations and dishes I've experienced in a long time. The primary issue is that they combine the pulled pork with the waffle batter before cooking which results in overly dry and tough pork. It was so bad I couldn't even finish half the dish. I think it would be better to cook the waffle and then top with pork similar to chicken and waffle dishes. The star of the show was actually my son's pulled pork sandwich. The meat had a chance to shine there and was not dry like the other dish. The desserts were also a disappointment. We couldn't even eat our carrot cake waffle because it had no flavor and was dry. The banana pudding was a weird consistency as well vs. the types of banana pudding I'm used to eating in the south. All in all a disappointing experience. I think they have a great location and good set up, but it is not often I throw away half my food and leave a place so disappointed. read more

Service & Atmosphere was great! relaxed, if the staff that waited on us were not the owners, they did an excellent job of representing them. If they were the owners, they're doing it right! We sat outside under the patio heaters in 50-degree temps and it was very comfortable. I had the pulled pork BBQ, cornbread pudding and cowboy beans, which was delicious. We ate there last night! Wow! First of all the building and deck are awesome. They did a wonderful job retaining original brick and combining new feel. Secondly, the food! Home run. I have had BBQ and smoked meat everywhere. This is one of the best. We had the 3 meat special. Turkey, brisket and pulled pork, 2 sides and a sampling of 4 sauce. All done perfectly with great flavor and moist. Bean and pickled veggies were delicious. Sauces were incredible. The white sauce was incredible. Best gold ever. Mop and red were delicious. Wow this is very good food. It's not like the rest of bbq joints in town. It is a foodie's bbq place. They have lots of the standard smoked bbq items if that is what you want. I suggest you try the chicken salad sandwich. For brunch today I had chopped beef over sweet potato and two poached eggs on top on all of it served with a wonderful sauce. All I can say is Paul Montgomery is a master. I had the brisket and pulled pork sampler with the slaw and pickled veggies. In a word...AMAZING!!!. The meat was juicy and flavorful (not even a little dry) without an overbearing smoke flavor. I was as full as tick about to pop (i know...gross, but it is pretty accurate). We sat out on the covered back porch which was very relaxing. They have only been open for a short while...but should prove to be a GREAT Eastside eatery. read more

My family ate here on the 4th of July and we had a great experience. I enjoyed the brisket sandwich while my wife had the smoked turkey leg and couldn't stop raving about it. Visited this spot last weekend for a quick lunch. The space was clean with a simple vibe and the staff were friendly. My husband tried the pulled pork slider and three of the sauces, as well as the beans. He enjoyed his sandwich and beans but found the sauces to be underwhelming. I went with the pig candy waffle, because, why not. It was a good waffle with a little bit of pulled pork in it and the peach glaze did not have a lot of flavor. My wife and I were literally driving right by Pig Candy BBQ on the way to another barbecue joint that we usually enjoy. She quickly pulled up Yelp's photos and reviews (from the passenger's seat) and I immediately made a U-turn. How did we not know Pig Candy BBQ was there for the past two years?!?! It's inside of an old jailhouse building. The decorations, seating, outdoor area, musical selections and overall ambiance were fabulous! They even informed us that they are doing an Easter Sunday brunch... with no reservations. Order-wise, my wife had the Pig Candy Bowl with a side of Cheddar Grits. The Pig Candy Bowl is Pulled Pork over Mac 'N Cheese with Slaw. I had the Brisket Sandwich with a side of Cowboy Beans. The Brisket was very tender and flavorful. Everything was deeeelish! We told our college son that we will definitely take him there once he is back home for the summer. Give 'em a try... I don't believe you will be disappointed! My husband and I visited Pig Candy between Summerfair and an evening concert, on Saturday, 6/1. Staff reviewed the menu with us and made suggestions for my husband, who has celiac and eats gluten free. We were pleasantly surprised by a selection that was three quarters gluten free, including the waffle. I ordered a pulled pork quesadilla, and he ordered pulled pork with a waffle. Sides were cowboy beans and Cole slaw, both very tasty. Bacon in the cowboy beans and slaw creamy and slightly sweet. Sauces were good....red tangy and on the sweet side, white savory and somewhere between a seasoned ranch and a honey mustard. The food was outstanding and not the run of the mill chain fare. The inside has just a few tables with maybe 9-10 more tables on the curtained back deck. Nice selection of canned draft beer. Would highly recommend....low key, great food, attentive staff.
