So initially Piezano's was going down in quality. The pizzas seemed weak on toppings, raw and somehow also burnt, and just disappointing in price. However, maybe it is the new ownership or new employees but goddamn is this stuff delicious and reasonable in price! I've tried this place quite a few times and I really wanted to like it but they just can't seem to get a delivery order right and the quality is lacking. Several times I ordered the thin crust pizza only to have it arrive on a doughy, bready mediocre crust. My thinking is that they just lack the skill or gumption to even attempt it. The sauce is thin, canned, and utterly tasteless. To be fair, I come from the Chicago suburbs and there is a kickass pizza place about every two miles. And it's not just Piezano's as it seems impossible to get a pizza that is something more than bread and ketchup anywhere in the city of Lincoln, but this place is mediocre at best. Update: I know I said "never again"; however, a coworker informed me that Piezano's was under new ownership and encouraged me to give them one more "last try." I did, and well...no one was more shocked than me on how wonderful the experience was. On 08-30-17 I placed a telephone order for a Medium, Beef, Sausage, and Peperoni pizza. The phone call was pleasant and brief. The person who took my order knew what they were doing and I felt like perhaps things had made a turn for the better at Piezano's. I was told the pizza would be $18 (approx.) and would be ready in 35-40 min. I arrived at Piezano's right in the middle of that window of time and was pleasantly greeted by a well-groomed gentleman. He was friendly professional and efficient. The temperature outside was in the low 80s, but inside Piezano's the climate was very nice and inviting. My pizza was ready on time and I could feel that it was quite hot through the box. Upon opening the pizza in the car for inspection, we were very impressed! It looked and smelled amazing! We could not wait to get home and dig in. The flavors and texture were perfect. If this quality of pizza and customer service proves to be repeatable, Piezano's could pull a "worst to first" move in the Lincoln pizza scene. Our final takeaway was nothing but positive, the next time we order pizza, it will be from Piezano's. Original review below: I am a Lincoln native. Growing up my family would go to Piezano's and it was always good. The food was great, the service was good, and I thought it was one of the better places to eat pizza in Lincoln. Lincoln is strange when it comes to food. There seems to be a bit of a zealot culture. Lincolnites have a lengthy memory of the greatness of old that seems to be almost untarnishable no matter the current state of affairs. If you ask a Lincoln old-timer where to get the best burger, you may hear Fred's at Parkway Lanes. This is not the best burger in Lincoln. If you ask for the best pizza you will likely hear The Isles or Valentino's neither is correct, as far as I am concerned. This is the problem with Piezano's, it's just not good anymore. To make matters worse, it's very expensive. I have had a long string of one more chances with Piezano's, and finally chose to just call it quits. I ordered a med 3 topping pizza, it was $20 for carryout. When I returned to my home and opened the box, it became clear I had only received 2 of the 3 toppings I ordered. I called the restaurant and was treated rudely on the phone. It should be noted that I am always polite in situations such as this. I don't want to upset the people making my food, but the phone call did plenty of upsetting all on its own. The male employee who answered the phone never once apologized, or made any attempt to retain my business. When I told him I did not wish to drive back to Piezano's for a new pizza there was a very long pause before he sighed and offered to mail me a coupon for a free pizza. The coupon arrived over a week later. I was becoming pretty sure it was not coming at all. I took my coupon and my daughter to Pizano's to eat at the restaurant. I am in no way embellishing when I say it was 82 degrees in the dining room. I even checked the thermostat on the wall when I was returning from the restroom. The same off putting staff was working. The employees seemed very upset every time a customer would mention how hot it was and ask if anything could be done about it. When our pizza arrived, I asked for a box and we took it home. This was our first time getting pizza here, we got it to go last night. I really wanted to like it because I love supporting local but it hard when things go wrong. We did carry out, they forgot our breadsticks we paid for them they didn't give them to my husband to I sent him back in. I will say the car smelled delicious the whole way home but then when I started taking the pizza out I realized the crust was cooked all the way and was doughy on top. Popped it in the microwave that didn't really help. Good thing we went back in for the breadsticks, they were the best part. Overall not the best in Lincoln. read more

Piezano's never disappoints. We had a good waiter and loved the pizza. Had the medium crust, crunchy, and it was perfect! Our dining partners loved it too. Said it was the best pizza they'd ever had in Lincoln. Their beer selection is very limited. The merlot was good, beer glasses frosted----all good things for us. I have lived in Lincoln since 1996 and have been eating at Piezano's just as long. It used to be a great place that had excellent service and excellent pizza. Fast forward to 2018 and the service is seriously some of the worst you will find in any restaurant and the pizza is still pretty good, except for the fact that we always end up having to finish cooking the pizza for them. Some of the customer service experiences I have had; getting the wrong pizza multiple times, getting to the restaurant to pick up the pizza and having to wait 45 mins beyond when they said it would be ready, having the delivery take 1 hour and 30 mins when they said it would be 45 mins and having the manager tell me they were going to send me a coupon for a free pizza and never getting it in the mail. I can understand mistakes, but what I can't understand is when the employees and management act like I am inconveniencing them because I complained about something that they did very wrong. They have this attitude that's like, eat our pizza or don't, we really don't care. If you guys are going to charge an arm and a leg for your pizza, you really should try to take care of your customers better. It's just really sad. read more

I've been sitting here reading the other reviews, and can't believe what I'm reading. Did I come on a bad night? I got the regular crust meat pizza. The crust at the edge tasted pretty good on its own, but the rest was a mess of mushy nasty provel (cheese of the devil) on half-cooked dough that tasted like some Lutheran old lady's "Italian" Sunday hot dish. What is it with Nebraska pizza shops and provel cheese? (If you don't know what provel is, it's basically a cheese blend, similar to American cheese, invented for people in St. Louis that didn't like stretchy cheese. I'm not making that up.) I can't stand provel. It's tasteless mush. But hey, if you like Valentino's, you'll love this place, it's rather like two Valentino's pizzas stacked on top of one another and half-cooked. Mush! I read recently that 25% of people are super-tasters, 50% normal tasters, and 25% non-tasters. So I'm thinking 25% of pizza eaters will love this place. Zowie! And to think I had to travel over 500 miles to get some good pizza. I've been in BoCo since April of this year and have yet to find a real go-to place for pizza. So here we were in Lincoln, having just watched the Huskers finish off the Huskies, and we wanted to get away from the downtown dinner crowd. With the aid of Yelp, we found Piezano's. It's a cute little place, with about 10 tables. The parking lot is small - you need a compact or midsize car to really maneuver around in there, and they should really make it back-in only. Anyhoo, we didn't have to wait for a table, which is fortunate, since we were starvin' Marvin, not having had any foodstuffs since around 10 am, and it was about 9 hours later by this time. They had just two beer options available that night - Bud Light (ewwww) and Fat Tire. We ordered the cheesy garlic bread, Cesar's pie (a baked pasta dish), two calzones, and a pizza (thin crust). Our waitress failed to bring out the appetizer first, which would've been nice to stave off our hunger, but we actually didn't wait that long for all the food to come out, so that kind of made up for the oversight. And in general, the waitstaff was very pleasant and helpful. At any rate, back to the food - everything was absolutely delicious,and I'm not saying that just because I was ready to devour anything in sight that was edible. WORST DINING EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD. We got there at 5:50pm tonight (Saturday night). We ordered an ice tea, water, antipasto salad and a 16 inch pepperoni and cream cheese pizza. Water and salad came out fast. But after an ice tea refill, they run out of ice tea. How hard is it to make tea when it's 6pm on a Saturday night? My husband asked for a diet coke instead and she didn't bring that out for at least 20 minutes saying she made it but someone stole it. Our huge salad only had one dressing container, even though the other table's single serving salad had the exact same size dressing. I'm fine paying the fifty cents for more dressing, but it doesn't make sense to give me the same size dressing as an individual dinner salad when my salad serves 4. 45 minutes later and well after 6:30, our waitress tells us they dropped our pizza. They will make a new one and it will come quickly. We ask for it to go since it's been AN HOUR SINCE WE SAT DOWN! The pizza came about 20 minutes later and it's a 10 inch! The waitress argues with me saying I ordered a 10 inch. Are you serious? She's wearing slippers and yoga pants to work. We just wanted to leave but I was so pissed. The waitress didn't charge us for the ice tea (so generous) but that was the worst $20 dining experience I have ever had. When we got home almost two hours later since we left the house for pizza, the 10 inch pizza wasn't even that good. read more

The Service: Honestly I've only ever had take-out from these guys so I can't really rate the service. When I arrived to pick up the pizza however they were attentive and helpful. The Food: The pizza is good, really good actually. Personally I've been rocking the hawaiian pizza (thin crust) and it's just delicious. I'm not even a Hawaiian pizza kind of guy but it's soooo good! Any pizza you get is hot, fresh, and tasty! They have other actual itialian dishes but I've never ordered any of those. The Location: Easy to find/get to, a nice small spot that's clean and works. THIS IS THE BEST PIZZA IN LINCOLN (possibly the world). I've had a lot of pizza in a lot of states and even a few different countries, and this is my favorite pizza. It is the best pizza I have ever eaten. My favorite is the Chicken Tuscany. They have cream cheese on it, which is amazing. I'm not a big fan of pepperoni pizza, but I am at Piezano's. I have never been disappointed here, and always bring out of town guests to show this local pizza joint off. A tip...the parking lot is a nightmare. It's tiny and the spots are all angled oddly so that it's almost impossible to get out when you leave. If it's after regular business hours, I usually park in the lot next door, to the east. It's also easy to get to Piezano's by bike, because it's on South street, not far from the Rock Island Trail. read more

On Sunday's all you can eat spaghetti variety of sauces meat, alfredo, butter and plain red sauce. Their pizzas are good if you like a thick crust. I personally prefer a thinner crust you can ask for on demand. They have a serious lasagna on the menu which will feed a small army and I really like their chicken primavera. Salads are iceberg mix. They recently introduced garlic cheese bread sticks worth a try. You can feed a family well under $20. read more

Very nice place. Ceasars pie was great. C-shells was ok, very salty. Portions are large, we could have probably split one entre and would have been plenty. Service was ok, but not great. Fast but not super friendly. Bathrooms were pretty gross. Old and dirty and dark. Very gas station like. Cost was very low. Less than 20 bucks for two with no drinks. One of my good friends from Brooklyn naturally doesn't think of the good ol Midwest as the food capital of the world- especially for pizza? Get outta here! When he came to the area, we tried various pizza joints. He of course thought all of them were subpar, especially Valentinos. Finally, we gave Piezanos a shot- not once but twice, not twice but three times. He said, it was the best pizza he had outside of NYC. Now was that a bit of an overstatement? Maybe. He loved it though. I do too. I have eaten here about 15 times total over the course of my times visiting Lincoln. It still has never disappointed me. I've recommended it to friends, especially the Sunday lunch buffet, and they never leave disappointed. The very best thing that you MUST try is the Sunday lunch buffet. The quality of pizza is amazing and the price is dirt cheap! Gary, the server (if he's still there), is awesome too! We would request certain pizza to be put on the buffet and they would just make it. It's not like a buffet were they have a schedule for what they put out. Whatever you want, if they can do it, they will- INCLUDING pizza types that aren't even on the menu. This is without a doubt the best pizza in Lincoln. The only thing I've had in Nebraska, and I've had a lot of damn pies in this state, is Mangia Italiana in Omaha. I really hate to leave a negative review but-I was back in town for the first time in a year. Piezanos was my favorite pizza place; the fact that they have cream cheese as a topping was the icing on the cake. I am regretful to say that their pizza is not what it used to be. It was extremely doughy-to the point of being 90 percent dough. There used to be a better balance and I can't fathom what changed. The crust was a nightmare, unchewable even, and plain nasty to eat.
