Enjoyable experience here. Lincoln only has a handful of sit-down, fancier, Italian joints but this one is worth a revisit. Fancy on the inside but prices are really pretty reasonable. I got the Carsoni (pesto) and did both chicken and shrimp which was $22, it's enough for two meals though so this is fair. The sauce was flavorful, good consistency of oil and basil. Loved that it included mushrooms but could have used more of them in it, also had bell pepper and broccoli. I'm not sure broccoli goes too well with the pesto dish, but it was steamed well and soft. The shrimp were huge and they had 4-5 in the dish. We also did bruschetta as an app, and loved the fresh tomatoes/garlic/herbs on top. Loved the dipping sauce with the bread as im a balsamic/oil freak. The soup was just okay, it was a creamy chicken/potato but it was very pureed and not quite what I was expecting, I'm not sure there was even a chunk of chicken in it. I've definitely had better next time, I'll be inclined to try the salad instead. Drinks were fun, I enjoyed the black raspberry margarita flavor and a limoncello spritz although both appeared a bit too watered down and not too strong. Upon entering it feels very fancy. They didn't mind me coming in not so fancy. Greeted right away and seated quickly. Ashley the server very pleasant. I ordered chicken piccata. I love chicken piccata usually order it all the time at Italian restaurants. This one is in my opinion too heavy on the citrus. Needs more butter or a heavy cream in the sauce. The citrus is way too acidic and over takes the whole dish. Doesn't really flow well. I ended up taking all the butter from my rolls which are delicious by the way. Putting all the butter into my dish and mixing the pasta up in it. That made it far less acidic. The soup was good can't remember the name sorry. I came to Villa Amore for a friend's birthday dinner on a Friday night, and I was honestly surprised by how quiet it was for the weekend. The drinks were a pleasant surprise though -- tasty and very reasonably priced. Our server was super attentive and friendly the entire evening, which made the experience better. The menu here is huge, which made it tough to choose, but I went with the tortellini alla vodka with chicken. It was... fine! Pretty average overall. I loved this place so much! It felt so fancy inside and the staff was so amazing and helpful! With so many options to choose from we had to lean on our waitress for help! We went in for a full four course meal but definitely came out with some leftovers! We started with their special drink of the night the black raspberry spritz which was so smooth! My friend insisted on getting the bruschetta which was so perfectly salty and crunchy but sweet with the tomatoes! We got some heavenly rolls, butter, and dipping oil right when our salads came out. What a great find! After a long day of driving, we were hungry and we read the excellent reviews for Villa Amore. A family-owned restaurant, it more than lives up to its reputation. The food is excellent; I ordered the tortellini primavera and my dining partner ordered the Carsoni, a fettuccine dish with fresh vegetables and pesto. The bread with olive oil is also to die for! The presentation is excellent and the service from Katie was fast and friendly. The dining area is larger than it looks from outside with white tablecloths and a lot of space between tables so it's quiet. The night I dined the AC was out, but they managed with floor fans and it was quite comfortable. Will be back! read more

Absolutely delicious. We enjoyed a lovely relaxing evening for our 42nd wedding Anniversary. A cozy booth, white linen tablecloth, red cloth napkins, little candle on the table and vintage Italian music playing softly. We ordered cocktails and Calamari for our appetizer which was perfectly done and lightly breaded, the best we've ever enjoyed. Tasty homemade rolls with butter and Seasoned Olive Oil came with our creamy soup and salad. The Seafood Alfredo was to die for, the creamy sauce paired perfectly with huge shrimp, mussels, clams and scallops. The creamy brandy sauce that enveloped my husband's order was delightful. Our service was professional and accommodating. We never felt rushed, it was a leisurely dining experience. My only regret is not ordering the Tiramisu with a cup of coffee to make the perfect finish. Next time. The prices are totally reasonable for such delicious offerings. It reminded me of the old Legion Club, The Nebraska Club and Tony and Luigi's. All three of which are terribly missed. The food here is horrible tasting. The bread rolls are very doughy and taste like pizza dough. They do make their own soups. The Caesar salad was atrocious. The lasagna tasted like it was from the freezer. The grilled chicken on the salad was fine. There might have been a hair in our pasta. The dried oregano around the plate is over the top. In addition, when one exhales, it is blown everywhere. It's not clear from the advertisement, but it is connected to the country Inn and suites hotel. This was our second visit to Villa Amore and we entered on a cold December night hoping for another great experience, like our last visit. The restaurant was busy, as it usually is, especially on a Friday night. The interior is a classic Italian ristorante and the greeters were prompt, polite, and quickly seated us. We began with drinks, an Italian Sausage appetizer and their homemade bread with olive oil to dip in. In our last visit the homemade dinner rolls were a huge hit. Fresh, soft, and warm. Not so tonight. The rolls were not warm and didn't appear to be as fresh. The appetizer was good, but not outstanding. For dinner I ordered the Veal Picatta and my wife got the Salmon Tre. She loved her dish, flavorful, full of good sautéed veggies and a perfectly done piece of salmon. My Veal Picatta was a disappointment. It had an overwhelming taste and aroma of artichokes and lemon. I expected the lemon in a Picatta but not the artichokes. The veal was sliced into small, thin medallions and lacked seasoning and taste. Service was good. Our server, Katie was pleasant, well informed, and attentive. So overall the experience at Villa Amore was just average on our second visit. That said, I would return, because the overall experience from both visits has still been very good and the menu has a lot more great options to try. read more

We went there for an anniversary dinner, although we did not tell anyone so if there is something they might have done for us we chose not to ask. It is can be a bit difficult to find, be aware that they seem to share the end portion of a larger building with The Country Inn, Radisson. You must turn west off of 27th st either before or just after passing the hotel and enter from what is actually the back of the building. We were there later than their dinner crowd, but well before closing. The main room was less than half full, but a party was taking place in another area. The inside is well decorated, but not in an 'old style' Italian manner. I had the Lasagna, and my wife had the Seafood Alfredo. They both came out hot, which I mention because for some places, this doesn't happen. My Lasagna plate came straight from the oven....watch out it can burn. We both enjoyed the meals and also the waitress, she was probably a HS student, but we both noticed how polite and knowledgeable she was, even with the wine. We both completely enjoyed our meal and have added this to our favorites in Lincoln. An interesting note here. Neither of us could finish our meal so we boxed it and took it home. Mine 2 days later actually tasted a bit better than the first time. We both noted how some meals are like this. The dish had a 'fuller' flavor to it. So we've been eating here for several years and tonight we had two out of three meals that were basically un edible. We had a cacciatore that the noodles were rubbery, and the filling was odd tasted not very good And then a salmon meal that had the artist thick Lemon seasoning, but it was really a horrible taste. I mean it just I've actually ate that same meal at that restaurant and really enjoyed it and tonight I had sent it back unfinished. And then all they did was take the main meal off when we didn't want to eat there I mean, didn't want to try something else because we were so disappointed Well, the granddaughter's meal was OK. It wasn't good and she's a that's a meal before also so it's really really coming off our list. They were actually overstaffed for a quiet night and we couldn't get service to stop by for over 10 minutes when we're looking for drinks to be refilled. It was just you had to actually signal to them to come fill a glass of water when there was a huge over Staff because they thought it would be busier than it was. You know it's a really nice place. Very good food. The lasagna was very good, the meat sauce was great with the ricotta cheese mixed in. Only down side was that the center was only warm, not hot. We mentioned to the waitress and the Chef came out to talk to us. Offered to remake for us (also offered by the waitress) but we were just passing thru and wanted to get back on the road. He wanted to take it off the bill but we said no, taste was great, so he comped half the price. The chef was truly horrified. The Chicken Picatta was excellent and I ate the whole thing. No complaints here. The service was slow but that may have just been us wanting to get back on the road as we still had 3 hours to go for tonight. It was a nice dining experience not fast food. A dud. The hostess seated me in the back, facing away from the rest of the clientele. This meant it was nearly impossible to ever get my server's attention or to evaluate the ambience. I love veal Marsala, having ordered it many times. This was insipid. If I had been blindfolded, I don't think I could have identified the sauce. The rolls were straight off the Sysco truck: spongy and bland. So, apparently, was the olive oil with green flakes in it. I'm from Northern California and have enjoyed many a pinot noir. I've never heard of Dante winery, possibly because no restaurant I know would have served the acerbic, fruitless variety I got; I couldn't finish the generous pour. Have been here twice. The food and service have been surprisingly good. Servers could use a little more training, but are eager to please and friendly. Clean, Nicely decorated, almost upscale restaurant interior. Unfortunately, it's attached to a somewhat run down hotel that needs cleaned up, updates, parking lot re paved, sidewalks redone and trash picked up. Restaurant patrons have to use the shared public restrooms in the hotel which need updated severely. I think the restaurant would do much better if it was in a different location, either the haymarket area or in East/south/SE/SW Lincoln. I would consider going here more often but it's not convenient and the building (hotel surrounding) is run down. Chicken parm was good but wish the chicken was crispier. This is a sweet little place! We were just driving through Lincoln and staying the night. Got semi-hungry. Italian called my name. We tripped over this place and are glad we did! We ordered a pizza to split and a salad to split. I mean, we weren't too hungry. Turns out it comes with bread (+olive oil +Parmesan + etc.) and soup. Okay. Then the huge salad showed up with "Dorothy Lynch" dressing. Never heard of it. Can't figure out what they lynched her for. It certainly wasn't the salad dressing because it was great! I'm glad she left the recipe behind. Then the pizza came. It was really, really good! Thin crust, great sauce, all on top of a nice white tablecloth. All in all, five stars! This is a must stop if you're in the area and especially if you're staying at the hotel next door. The food was reasonably priced and better than dishes I've paid 3x more for. The drinks were inexpensive and they had a great selection. It's a beautiful restaurant with a full bar and they had it decorated for the holidays which really added to the ambiance. Best of all, our server Ruby was INCREDIBLE. She was attentive and sweet and went out of her way to answer questions we had. I regret not getting more/better photos while we were here. This restaurant was a highlight in our weekend out and about. When we pulled up and realized it was in a hotel I almost wanted to move on. I just assumed it must be not very good from a culinary stand point. We visited on a weekday for lunch and it was quiet, but there were still about 6-7 small parties being served across the dining room spaces. There was only one serve on duty, Anna, and she was amazing. Very helpful, quick, upbeat, and proactive. Thank you for your great service! The food itself was wonderful. The complimentary rolls are crispy and fluffy and chewy and very satisfying. We opted for a pizza for the hubs and a salad for myself. He thoroughly enjoyed the pizza, leaving only one slice for later. The salad didn't look that exciting, but the caeser dressing they have (not sure if it's house made or not) was phenomenal. I would probably recommend requesting it on the side though, as it was quite heavily dressed. The atmosphere was nothing too lavish, and yet felt very classy and well maintained.
