As someone who's originally from New York, I'll admit I'm a tough pizza critic -- but I genuinely try to keep an open mind and judge restaurants on their own merit. Unfortunately, Piezano's just didn't hit the mark for us. The biggest issue was the quality of the food. The pizza lacked freshness and flavor, and overall it felt poorly executed, especially for a place centered around pizza. It wasn't a matter of personal preference or style -- the quality itself was disappointing. That said, the staff were very friendly, kind, and attentive. Everyone we interacted with was polite and tried their best, though the team did seem quite young and possibly undertrained, which showed a bit in the overall experience. The most concerning part of our visit was the bathroom, which was absolutely disgusting. Cleanliness is a basic expectation for any restaurant, and this alone would make us hesitant to return. We really wanted to like this place, but between the food quality and the cleanliness issues, we don't see ourselves coming back. Thought maybe we had been here but don't think so. So I am doing a veg combo, with anchovies, small thin crust. I asked if cheesecake is made here. He said it used to be but not presently. B has asked for pasta and marinara. They apparently do substantial carry out. Guessing more than dine-in. Nice seating situation for us. Pizza crust appears previously frozen. Maybe not. Does not appear handmade. Difficult to distinguish sometimes. Large portions of both. I like. But reluctantly only 4 Stars because of suspect pizza crust. read more

Dishonest? The bill was much more than we anticipated, so we asked for a menu. The charge for our 10-inch pizza was $22, significantly more than listed on the menu. The waitress explained that the new menus with higher prices were not back from the printer, so they charge their customers the higher price without informing them. I protested and asked why I was not told the real prices were higher than those listed and why they didn't at least correct the existing menu by hand. "Because", she said, "nobody notices. They just pay the bill ". I complained about what I saw as dishonesty. She changed the bill. It does not matter the quality of the food, I refuse to deal with what I see as a dishonest business. And another thing: we were told the stuffed-shell dinner came with two rolls. It didn't. It came with one roll cut in two. read more

I first experienced Piezano's while in Lincoln on our house hunting trip for my new job. I asked the hotel front desk for a recommendation for "local" pizza vs national chain crap. He recommended Piezano's but warned me it would take awhile but worth the wait. My first order was Calzone and was huge/awesome. It stuff my wife and me. We ordered the piezanos sticks for an appetizer - we hadn't been here before and didn't realize, but the server thought we had asked for two orders of the piezanos sticks. Not cheap at all, mind you. When the final bill came, we naturally brought it up, but the waitress in a very condescending tone asserted that "she heard us say two". It's been years since we last had Piezanos. I understand that they may be under new ownership. A friend offered to send us a meal recently, and suggested Piezanos, so we went for it. The first thing you notice about the pizza when picking it up is that it's heavy. Frankly, maybe the heaviest pizza I've had that's not Chicago-style deep dish. The crust is massive, the toppings are intense, and the cheese is piled on thick. One pizza goes about twice as far as an equivalent from the national pizza chains. It costs about twice as much too. While heavy, the crust was pleasant tasting. The sausage was ground and spread across every inch of the top of the pizza, and had a peppery flavor. We also had the Tuscan Chicken, which had tons of toppings and flavors. Almost too much. We won't wait so long to try Piezanos again. read more

This is by far, the best pizza in Lincoln. Ever since the new owners took over a few years back, everything has massively improved. We have tried both dine-in and carryout, and every time it was a hot and tasty meal. We've introduced several friends to Piezano's and they absolutely love it. There is just something about their crust that is just so much better than anything else. And the sauce is very, very tasty. They don't overdo any element; it's just a harmonious balance of awesome. Note their parking lot only fits maybe 8 cars and their dining area is not the biggest. And unless you're westbound on South St, it's a tricky place to drive to, but well worth it! I know I'm a bad Nebraskan for saying this, but I can never go back to Valentino's or anything else again. read more

I am still new to town, it was my first visit to Piezano's and they helped us with a big group of cyclist friends on their Wednesday night pub and dinner ride! They were very accommodating of a large, late crew. Everybody had several drinks, Everyone ordered their own food and everyone paid by separate ticket. It was a lot of work for the employees but they were GREAT! The food was outstanding, my pizza was heavy on ingredients and very tasty! I saw others with delicious buffalo wings, calzone, and tasty breads with marinara appetizerthink I've found my local restaurant in Lincoln for sure. I love this place. The pizza is delicious. The staff are kind and efficient. The lunch buffet is tasty and only $6.99 - includes a fresh, simple salad bar, pizza that is refreshed frequently, and bread sticks. Sunday night is all you can eat spaghetti night. Haven't had Piezano's in a long time, won't be giving it another chance. Ordered a 12" hamburger pizza and one piece of garlic cheese bread total was $27.00. Bread was mushy from oil or grease from the cheese and the pizza was terrible. Crust was hard and almost impossible to chew, the cheese was so overcooked it was dark brown and slid off in one piece. Went for a family outing of 8 diners. And for the record, our server was nice. But the service itself was disorganized. Entrees arrived at various times over a 10 minute period. I suppose I should have ordered a pizza at a pizza place, but I opted for the spaghetti. It was just OK and entirely forgettable. Perhaps part of that is the fact that my plate was one of the first to arrive, and so had been cooling for 10 minutes before the final plates arrived. From the lack of apology or explanation from the server, I'm guessing this disorganized service is the accepted norm. But seriously, there is no excuse for slow service on eight plates of pasta. And if it had been busy, I may have understood. But while we waited on food, another server sat with diners at a nearby table lamenting how few customers she had. I think this is the best pizza in town hands down. My wife and I go here at least twice a month on minimum. The pizza is continuously delicious with a sweet sauce, tons of cheese and high quality toppings. They have the option for 3 different crust styles. I've tried all 3 and the thin is probably my favorite. It is light and crunchy. The sicilian thick is almost too thick, but still very very good. Their wings are plump, juicy and full of meat and have an italian hot/spicy flavoring that is out of this world and as unique as it comes. Also, so far the best wings in town and close to the best I've ever had. The staff is always friendly, fast and attentative. Everything in this place works together and they do deliver. Best Calzone in Lincoln no doubt. The size of that thing filled the whole plate, they spared no ingredients, stacked with meat, and the garlic infused dough to top it off. It's the first time I was not able to finish a calzone meal (barely ate half and it was likely 1500 calories - for half of it). This place is a Lincoln legend for a reason. This is the place for some SERIOUS pizza. We got takeout of the potato pizza and the "chips" and it made quite an impression on me. Overall the whole experience was overly smoky for me- the place was filled with a (savory and delicious, not stinging or anything) smell that clung to us for hours, and the pizza was absolutely loaded with extremely smoky bacon and ham. These are things that put me off slightly but I'm sure this is just exactly what someone else wants. Otherwise, the food was really good. Not my preferred style of crust, but it was made expertly. And the little diamond-cut "chips" were an absolute delight, very fun and very delicious. Considering the mass and volume of pizza we got, the prices that might otherwise seem a little steep work out to be so reasonable, since one slice of this pizza is way enough to fill all but the most starving diner. At the end of the day, I'm not super into the really meaty, salty, smoky pizza experience I had but I'm truly excited to go back and try a more veggie-forward option. read more

My boyfriend and I went there on a Saturday afternoon. The place was about a 1/3 full when we arrived but shortly after it was just the two of us. The service was okay but slow. Good at taking the order but only saw her once after the food arrived. The reason I am giving this 2 stars is not because of the mediocre service. Piezanos has one of the most tasteless pizzas I have ever had and I eat pizza often. We started off with their Italian chicken wings, "Winghini" as an appetizer. They are hot wings with Italian seasoning on the breading. They were tasty enough and the Italian seasoning added a little more to the wing experience than your run-of-the-mill hot wing. They weren't crispy though. We like ours crispy. Later came the pizza. I am not as adventurous as my boyfriend. I got a pepperoni and green pepper pizza on their hand tossed dough. He got the Meat Combo (Hamburger, Pepperoni, Green Pepper, Onion, Canadian Bacon) in their pan crust. When the pizzas came out the crusts looks the same. Unfortunately, all we could taste was the unseasoned crust. If you like your pizza to taste like a loaf of white bread, this is your place but personally I like an explosion of flavor in my mouth. The sauce was bland and used sparingly. There was too much cheese. The hamburger was not seasoned which is unfortunate because they smear a layer of hamburger on pie just over the sauce. A little overkill. We sat their feeling like we should finish the meal that we paid $40 for (no alcoholic beverages on the tab) but we couldn't bring ourselves to consume calories that weren't even worth it; that even after we doused our pies with the crushed red pepper and oregano that is offered at the table. They catered pizza into our office today. Last time I had Piezanos was over a decade ago, and it was for the first time. Back then, it was burned, and cold and wasn't very good. So I never went back. Today, in our office, I was supremely impressed. THICK crust, just like I like it, massive cheese, toppings galore, they did NOT skimp on anything. Those pizzas were awesome. Whatever they did to change around from a decade ago has worked, because now I'd drive across town to try them again. Props to them for this pizza, it's turned my opinion from, "never again" to just plain, "again." We really liked this different kind of pizza. I would give it a 4.5 rating if I could. We got a medium half 'n half Chicken Tuscany & Meat. It was de-lish! 4 nice sized pieces piled on toppings and done to perfection. Two meals for us! Crust is good too. We will go back! While there waiting for our late lunch, there was a lot of take home pick ups. We also found out there is a lunch buffet and one on Sunday at a very reasonable price. Gonna try that action.
