    Afrojack on 12/30.

I came here twice during my extended NYE vacation... for Jacked on 12/30, and the Apocalypse New Years after party on 1/1. (I don't know how I survived partying for NYE, and then going to the afterparty from 5AM until 9AM...) I thought the shape of the venue was weird, it was an L-shape with the stage on one side of the venue, with bleachers and mushrooms that you can sit on the other side. Coat check was a long wait and $6 per coat. There were also only outdoor porta-potties, which sucked to walk out in the blistering cold to use the bathrooms! Drinks were ridiculously overpriced for what you got, and everything was cash only. Although there were ATMs on the premises, Pacha (the promoters for the party) should have indicated that everything was cash only. In terms of the show, the light production was amazing, and probably the best I've ever seen indoors. The sound system needed some work and could benefit from surround sound, because everything sounded faded if you weren't with the hundreds of people crammed in front of the stage. There's lots of space to move throughout the whole venue, but if you wanted to hear the music well, you had to be as close to the stage as possible.

Beautiful venue! I attended the season 9 America's Got Talent (judgment week) taping here. I was asked to arrive by 12:30pm and told the taping would last about 4 hours. I stood in line for awhile and wasn't allowed inside until 1:30pm. There were two charging stations so lots of people were charging their phones. When I actually sat down, it was about 2pm. I sat down and waited for more people to trickle in. The actual taping didn't start (aka judges didn't come to stage) until about 3:15pm. They wanted audiences to bring their phones and vote as 5th judge. That took awhile to get everyone oriented on how to use the app. Later the directors decided they didn't like the way people using the app because we couldn't really clap our hands for TV audio effects. So we were told to shut our phone off. I got to watch about 4 or 5 acts. Judges left at around 4pm. We were told they would return. The audience warm-up guy told us the show would continue. However, suddenly at around 4:20pm, the warm-up guy said "I apologize guys, our show has to end early today." So everyone got confused but left anyway. They don't let you take videos or pictures once inside the venue. The space is intimate so all seats are great. I enjoyed the taping even though the show had to end early abruptly. Women's bathroom...pretty clean when I first used it before the show. When I left after the taping, none of the stalls would flush so yeah...

Such a huge space!! I came here for the Food Network and Cooking Channel New York City Wine & Food Festival. One thing I appreciated that I wasn't aware of at first is that it's indoors! The weather wasn't the best so that was much appreciated. As for the space it was like a huge warehouse. Def good if you're expecting a lot of people.

Pier 92 is a great place for events in the summer. By the water, overseeing the Manhattan skyline, and cruise ships parked next to the pier, it is a very pleasant view. I was there there for 2 days for the NYC Food and Wine Festival in October. The events were amazing, the roof top could hold 1000 people easily. However, it might not be a great place in the fall, especially when it was cold. Being next to the water made it even colder and windier. But it was very fun inside the tents. Overall, idk how much the rent is. But this is a great event place for big functions for thousands of people!!

This is for the Halloween 2012 "All Mixed Up" Event with Alesso, Ingrosso, and Otto Knows. I've been to many venues in NYC for EDM events and I must say this is by far the best. (Roseland, Terminal 5, The Morgan Room, Pacha, Best Buy Theater) This is a massive warehouse that has a reverse L Shaped layout. Once you pass security, you are in the outside rest/smoking area. There are no seats here but people manage to find places to squat or sit anyway. There are two large garage door style entrances that take you into the main foyer, here you will find several bleachers set up for sitting and rest. They had several lit up decorative cars similar to the ones at EDCNY which seat 4 and are just awesome. Lit up decorations were hung all over the celing If you go left, you will exit into another outdoor area filled with outhouses, there are PLENTY of outhouses and never once did I find myself waiting to take a 1 or 2 ;) If you go right you will find a very very long and large dance floor. The sides are lined with huge LED screens and there are lasers and lights up the wazoo (refer to photo: http://s3-media3.ak.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/NvsM48u19meEQiP842lwLQ/l.jpg ) I think there were approx 3 bars. The sound system is amazing and lights were just crazy, There was no shortage of fist pumping nor unicorn chasing at this event. The entire group I went with had a blast.

As polarizing an event venue as one could ask for. There is a f*ck ton of space in this place; very capable of housing a multitude of bodies when a big name rolls through town. In addition, the warehouse type atmosphere lends itself to establishing some pretty legitimate underground-y type of vibes. If that weren't enough, the lighting production in here is some of the best I've seen outside of an actual music festival. All that said, I want to feel the music. Unfortunately, this spot whiffs big time when it comes to delivering soul shattering bass and eardrum popping treble. To put it simply, the sound system sucks dong. Big time. I've heard better acoustics in an elevator. Because of the strange layout (the place is huge and shaped like a reverse "L"), there's a lot of space for noise to travel; this ultimately makes the sound super echo-y. Additionally, sound comes from the side of the stage, and it's noticeable that there aren't enough woofers to produce sound that makes it feel as if you're surrounded and immersed in the noise... you can pretty much tell what the source of the music is. In the end, because of such terrible sound quality, I can't recommend this venue, even for your favorite act. It will ruin your experience (PMF should have been the greatest show I saw last year, but I was disappointed and underwhelmed). Doesn't help that the teenagers who come to shows held here are ratchet @ss b*tches that can't control themselves, are mad rude, and end up making a mess of themselves due to being unable to handle the illicit substances that they insert inside themselves. These young people are our future... and a terrifying prospect of the future it is.

IMATS baby!! Had a blast. It was a lot going on but I enjoyed it and can't wait for next year. I was super pissed that I couldn't purchase from Inglot since all of the heaux was blocking the whole area. To top it off the Inglot workers were extremely unorganized and rude. I dropped my necklace and the pendant rolled under their stall and it took me four times to get someones attention. They thought that I was trying to purchase something but I just wanted my necklace idiots. Then they had pictures of eye shadows that they didn't even have out. Wise move! I left. I'll spend my money elsewhere. Other than that I enjoyed presentations when my feet started to ache, a nice bonus lippy from Stila with my purchase and photos with a couple of people in the makeup industry. I wish I would've purchased more makeup brushes since they were like $2 a pop. I wanted coffee but at $3 a tiny cup I skipped it. Who has a Keurig and only serve basic Green Mountain coffee?? Get some Donut Shop, some hazelnut Green Mountain some something! When I asked about the variety of coffee, her answer was decaf or caffeinated lol. Needless to say I passed. Went to my favorite diner and had two cups for $1 a pop and was only charged for one :p

Yes, the views are amazing, however the weather has to be just perfect. Especially if you plan to use the outdoor patio. Which, why wouldn't you? The space itself is not for large groups, wedding party size approximately 50. Plus the wait, bar & other service staff. The location is prime, if you plan to take a car, remember this is NYC & traffic is bad. You can probably walk faster than a cab or car service. Especially during the month of December. NYC gets more visitors in December than all year long. The venue has 2 bathrooms for women which is not good, however worked for this crowd. Think of this location as a once in a lifetime, only if you have the funds for this location. As guests we were thrilled to be invited to such a lavish wedding!

Rooftop wedding in the heart of Manhattan with incredible views of St. Patrick's Cathedral & Rockefeller Center. What more could you ask for? It's makes for one incredible experience for not just the bride and groom, but for all of the guests who are always completely blown away. As close as it is to being perfect, there are few things to keep in mind: 1. If the weather doesn't cooperate (as it didn't during the wedding I shot there, when it rained right before the ceremony), the main garden does get quite soggy. It got bad enough that the bride had to walk around the guests via the outer walkway instead of through the middle. Definitely not the ideal way to make an entrance. 2. The inside is as simple as it gets, so it's really up to you(r planner) to make it something amazing. Basically, picture a clean, white room; a blank slate. If minimalism is your thing (as is with me), then you'll love it. Otherwise, plan to get creative! 3. Space. It's definitely not for large events. Even for smaller weddings, the cocktail hour gets quite cramped. But if you're planning on getting married here, you know that already. From a solely photographer's perspective, while it does make possible some absolutely stunning shots (one of my favorite images was taken here, which you can see in the Photos section), the size of the venue as well as the blank indoor space does limit how creative you can get. If you're looking to get a wide variety of photos, I'd highly suggest you stop by another location for or after the First Look and get portraits before heading to 620 Loft and Garden. If you're set on getting married here, a gallery of a real wedding from 620 Loft and Garden is up on my site, so feel free to check it out for some wedding ideas!

Why, stop by the Holiday Home of course!! Held in a historical mansion on the Upper East Side of New York City, come prepared to be inspired and enchanted as you walk through the house, each room designed by a different interior designer, to a different holiday theme (think, New Year's Eve, St Pattys, Christmas etc) or special moment in life. Every single room here is SO gorgeous, with furniture from some of the most luxurious brands in the world. As I walked through the rooms, I imagined what it would be like to live in a house like this, a life of luxury, with cocktails at 3 and constant dinner parties. And if you're one of the lucky few who can actually afford to live in a house like this, then the Holiday Home would serve as a life sized inspiration board for you... You get a catalog at the entrance and it serves as a reference to any piece of furniture displayed in the house. The designers themselves are also there in their respective rooms and are more than happy to talk to you about their work / offer to come design your house (if that's what you're looking for). It is a $35 entrance fee that goes towards the Breast Cancer Foundation, though, even if it didn't, so worth it getting to spend an afternoon in the shoes of an Upper East Sider. Lastly, everyone's so incredibly nice (you'd expect them to be snooty but there are absolutely no airs here), though, I would dress nice and perhaps not show up in sweats if I was gonna go. Haha. There is also an adorable little heated courtyard cafe that serves up ready made sandwiches, teas and (not so yummy) macaroons. But very nice and pretty to sit at. All in all, one of my favorite things we did in New York this past trip! Perfect for getting into the holiday mood (:
