The Loft In Flatiron is a beautiful establishment. I went there UNANNOUNCED to see it and although that bit me in the behind, I must admit the place is beautiful. HOWEVER, JACK the owner/host was VERY VERY RUDE AND NASTY TO ME. I booked a private birthday part for Sunday August 22nd 2021 from 2-6pm for $6,000 plus tips. Apparently, due to policy rules Airbnb took down their listing off their website and refunded me a full refund on Saturday July 31st . I immediately contacted Airbnb and asked what was the reason for and all they could tell me was it was for "my safety". I then received a flimsy email the day after on Sunday August 1st from Jack at info@loftinflatiron.com stating Airbnb took down their listing to submit payment using their credit card authorization form. Now I don't know about you, but I am aware of some great scams in the world and before I spend $6,000, I'd like to see the place in person for myself and speak with someone directly to make sure I am safe. When I got there, I was actually relieved everything was exact how it was on the pictures and on the FaceTime tour. I was met by a young lady who was very understanding and urged me to call Jack right away. I took her advice and called Jack. To my surprise, Jack, whom I spoke with prior, was EXTREMELY rude and upset and clearly showed no respect to a woman. He was outraged saying how dare I come down unannounced and without calling. I explained to him my feelings and that I handled business accordingly and conveniently for me. Jack questioned me as to why didn't I call him, which I stated I was waiting to speak with him during NORMAL business hours since I received the emails around 11pm-12am Saturday night. He questioned why didn't I reach out to him on Sunday. I explained again, I wanted to reach out during normal business hours and Sunday was not convenient for me to reach out to him. He went further to express his frustration and asked why didn't I reach out to him Monday at 9am. I explained to Jack, just like he works and has a job to do, so do I and I work from 9-5. I drove from the north Bronx down to his location after getting off of work. I got down there at 5:55pm and was speaking to Jack by 6:18pm. I believe I handled business accordingly. Jack was extremely nasty and very aggressive, I felt extremely disrespected. Nonetheless, I have already promoted my event and was selling tickets and therefore I was still interested in going through with the event. At 8:08pm, that evening I received a nasty email stating he would not like to move forward with hosting my event and to contact Airbnb for my refund. Update, I received my refund on August 2nd. I believe Jack felt offended and believed I was calling him personally a scam which was not the case. As I stated to Jack, most business where they've lost a month full of bookings would be reaching out diligently to their clients expressing their apologies for the misunderstanding. I never received a call, a text, only an email requesting a payment. I am completely devastated that Jack ruined my event and totally embarrassed me by cancelling my event. I hope no one else experiences this mans "bad side" because it is a COMPLETE turn off. He took it personally that I wanted to ensure that MY MONEY was being protected and not scammed. read more
