I don't know. I may have to pop up and try again, but I personally have issues with constant motion and inconsistency. When I've gone, I've had the ribs, beans, Mac n cheese and potato salad. All pretty fire, but I personally am conflicted with going back, getting my hopes up, and then they disappear again. The vibe then was chill, like a down south cafe, but I can't speak to the new location quite yet.

3 stars for service…read more The service was hands down superb- everyone was super friendly, and the food came out quickly! As a big BBQ lover, I was excited to try this, but it just wasn't for me. I've never had pulled pork bright pink in color, with such a different smell and a flaccid, chewy texture. After a couple bites, I just couldn't do it. The mac & cheese was basic, the baked beans could have used seasoning, and the BBQ sauce was a huge letdown - no smoke/spice there. Everything smelled amazing and looked great, so I really wanted to love it, but the food just didn't deliver. The service was excellent, if it was just about that. Maybe it's just a different style of barbecue. I like a lot of seasoning, flavor, and spice and I didn't get any of that here. Nothing stood out as decent. Recommendations? Is there something better on the menu I missed?

Ordered a small combo with ends and perfectly cooked catfish fillets/tenders. Sweet potatoes casserole was very tasty. I am not a greens expert but these were bitter. I did not alert the server but I thought maybe that was the way the restaurant made them. The peach cobbler was rich and good. Should have ordered ice cream as able mode. Large portions. My only big concern was the extra utility charge on the bill. I did not see it until I got nome, a little late to discuss.. On a $102.00 bill it was just shy of $18.00. I would definitely recommend but be aware of the extra charge. Restaurant/Service fee is the designation on the bill, listed as 18.5% and "is not a tip" per bill. Music was great. They also do bbq and I haven't had any in a while. I ordered the sampler with rib tips, burnt ends and fried shrimp. The grits were good and the catfish was light and crispy. The rib tips were coated in a sweet bbq sauce. Not my first choice but they were good. The burnt ends were tender. I also got to try the mini corn muffins - yummy, the mac and cheese - yummy, the yams - and the potato salad - bland. The owner told us it was his fault the potato salad wasn't good. He was a very friendly guy. Answered all our questions and spent time with us. It's always good to speak to the owner when you are from out of town. He's done a lot with the place. We would have gone another day to try other things but our schedule was tight. Everyone was happy with their choices. It's a nice place, live music on certain nights, lots of room.

Great food! Great vibes! Great Service!…read more A soul food restaurant, if not one of the best; may be THE best in the Denver metro area, and the state for that matter. The food is a fine example of excellent soul food done with love through culinary knowledge and experience. We ordered the Oxtail plate with greens and yams, which included cornbread smathered in sweet, buttery love; Catfish with greens and mac and cheese. Nothing was overly salty or too much seasoning. I am pretty picky when it comes to soul food, and am now a regular customer.

Real Soul Food: Blazing Chicken Shack II…read more Listen, if you're looking for that authentic, seasoned-to-the-bone flavor in Denver, look no further. Blazing Chicken Shack II is officially in my rotation, and for good reason. I've gone through the menu, and I'm telling you right now, they are putting their soul into this kitchen. Check the breakdown on why this spot is a Denver staple: The Wing Dinner: Pure perfection. The wings are top-tier and easily some of the best you're going to find in the city. The crunch, the seasoning, the moisture, it's all there. The Catfish: Man, listen. This is top three in Denver, period. If you think otherwise, go argue with yo momma, don't argue with me! The Sides: Everything is cooked with straight-up love and grace. The okra? It tastes exactly like my grandma used to make it. That's that nostalgic flavor you just can't fake. The Wait: Look, let's keep it 100, be prepared to wait. They are cooking everything fresh to order. If you show up during peak hours, just know it's going to be a minute. Quality takes time, fam. The Vibe: My only real gripe is I wish they were open longer, but I get the mission. When you're serving heat like this, you go until it's gone. Pro-Tip for the Inner Circle: Don't just show up and wait in line. Order online first, then give them a quick call to modify it for dine-in. By the time you pull up, your food is ready, and you can go straight to a table and start grubbing while it's fresh and steaming. Final Verdict: This is a Mile High favorite. If you haven't been, you're late to the party!

I couldn't tell if it was canned ONLY because there were large stems chopped up in it. However, it did not taste like a can at all because it was delicious and appears homemade. Mac and cheese was so good that I saved some for later just to savor it. And if you appreciate peach cobbler, this recipe was divine! It was the perfect balance of peaches and cobbler.
