I have never been to a more disorganized, unsympathetic, unprofessional medical office in my life!…read more Not only have I had to wait at least an hour past my appointment start time to actually see my provider there, once he does come in to see me, he can't get out of there fast enough, and never spends more than 10 minutes with me, always making me feel rushed. While I am waiting in the exam room for a technician to start the appointment, they leave all those doors open and I've overheard conversations about other patients, about myself, and staff, and how awful their day is going or how rude or upset the people are they are dealing with! On top of that, I have had so many times that the staff has dropped the ball on completing a request to get a medication pre-approval through my insurance and sent to the pharmacy for me. I've had to play the middle-man between the office, the insurance company, and the pharmacy for over a month now, only to find out that the office has not even submitted the requests I keep asking them to do but they keep placating me over the phone telling me they've already done it when they haven't! Save yourself the the frustration and wasted time and go somewhere else. It's unfortunate because I had heard good things about the doctors here but with so many things wrong with the office, it's just not worth my time or my health to go here.

They accommodated me with an early morning appointment so I didn't have to miss work, they moved me briskly through the several stages of having my eyes measured and refracted, and then I was able to have an unhurried exam and consultation with a professional and highly qualified doctor who is a specialist in the issues I am experiencing. Yes, there are many different staff doing many different things but this is how high quality healthcare gets delivered today. I also recommend buying your glasses at the retail shop in their office. I invested in a pair of glasses at their shop that make the cheapie pair I got online look like the junk they are. Don't bother buying glasses online especially if you need bifocals. Finally, I missed an appointment with them and they didn't tell, lecture or charge me for it. Thank you!

My…read moreeye doctor said I had low pressure, but Rioux and her assistant said the pressure was high (without a thorough exam). I was told drops or surgery were my only options. I wasn't comfortable with the entire experience - including the always full mini waiting room in a spare exam room. No sooner would one patient go in, two more would appear. I left feeling bullied (by Rioux's assistant) and questioning their diagnosis. I got a second opinion from another eye doctor - no glaucoma and normal pressure. Rioux and her team seemed more interested in seeing how much money they could make off my insurance company and I and they had very little concern for my eyes. I'm so grateful I refused the unnecessary drops and surgery!! I would NEVER let Rioux near my eyes again.

Dr. Rioux has always graciously explained any of my detailed questions to my personal satisfaction. My Glaucoma has required a mixed strategy over these years and my condition is now well controlled. Her regular examinations not only monitor my Glaucoma, but also watch for my hereditary possibility of macular degeneration, as well as any sign of diabetes. Dr. Rioux also performs surgeries in Springfield and staffs a number of Connecticut Valley clinics, besides Greenfield. If she is just out to make money, she'd never have the time to spend any of it! The major part of her waking life seems to be dedicated to her patients. I am 65 now, and am headed for cataract surgery, with her. I have absolute faith in her ability and look forward to being able to see correctly, again.

Took personal time off of work after scheduling an appointment online with BJ's optical only to…read moreshow up and be told they didn't have my appointment on file. Showed the receptionist my confirmation email and she blamed it on faulty equipment. She said thank god there wasn't another patient waiting and that it would just be a few minutes while the doctor finished up with another patient. Strangely she let me know that she texted the doctor to let them know I was here. Wouldn't you usually just pop your head in the exam room to let a doctor know that? After waiting for what ended up being 20 minutes and asking how long a typical appointment would take, I realized that unless the doctor showed up in that moment, I would not be able to make it to work on time. Frustrated, I let the saleswoman know that I would have to reschedule. As I walked past the exam room, I couldn't help but notice that the door was ajar with the lights off and nobody inside. This confirmed what I had began to think when she told me she was texting the doctor, and that was that the doctor was never there to begin with and was either late or called in to do my appointment. I just wonder how long they would have let me wait, causing me to be late to my own job which at my place of employment is not acceptable. Was hoping that my fear of going to BJ's for an eye exam would be met with a pleasant experience. Instead, I used 4 hours of my personal time at work in order to have a terrible experience. Valley Medical Group has some pretty amazing people who work there, from the people at the front desk, to the nurses, to the billing staff to the docs. I probably see the best person in the entire practice, Rachael Katz, hands down! She is knowledgeable, attentive, kind, thorough, on time, a great listener and easy to talk to. On a whole, the office is well run, the staff interact well with each other and are supportive of one another. Occasionally there are some glitches but problems are quickly addressed and not typically repeated. There is one person there that I think would be a better shoe salesman than a medical provider but the staff has honored my request to never schedule me with him again. Pros: Appointments are easy to get Reminders are sent when your annual exams are due Referrals are never a problem when needed Doctors work as a team which in turn benefits you Physical Therapy, Counseling, X-ray all available in the same building If you don't like one provider there are many more to choose from Family practice - Infant - 100 Great patient portal - can email directly with your doctor Cons: Sometimes you can wait incredibly long times on the phone Not always able to see your provider for sick visits
