After the tech did her work I was told that there were 4 people ahead of me to see the Dr. ONE HOUR later when I asked there were still 3 people ahead of me! This is what its always like.. And they're booking apprs every 15". What????? Going to jam as many people in a day as possible to keep the earnings up there.No customer respect. I went in for a routine eye exam. Dr. Benoit was the most sexist man I have encountered in a long time. His casual comments about women made me cringe. He went on and on about his experience with golf (he is clearly not an athlete) and how women who are good at golf should just let men win if they want a date! I asked him if he would just pretend to not be a good eye Doctor so that he could impress me? He said he had gone to some big event where ladies were playing golf a few years ago at The Orchards and wow, they could really hit the ball well. I informed him that that big event was in fact the US Open. And like wow, I can hit the ball too. He never explained what he was doing to my eyes (putting drops in it). And he acted like something was wrong with me when I flinched at the drops going in. I asked him if I was the first person that had ever had that reaction when a stranger was dropping fluid into someones eyes? I just wanted to get out of there. I made an appointment with Dr. Lotufo at this clinic a few weeks ago, because I had a chalazion on my eyelid that seemed infected. I also had itching and swelling around the eye. At this appointment, I sat with a technician and answered questions about every health condition imaginable and my entire medical history. She also did an eye exam, including a pupil dilation. Then I had to go sit in the crammed waiting room for fifteen minutes, and return to the exam room. None of this was relevant to my issue. The doctor spent about 4 minutes examining my eye, and told me I was to go on a course of antibiotics, and apply warm compresses twice a day for two weeks, then return either to have the chalazion removed, or for a follow-up. He was impatient when I asked questions. I did as he said, and the chalazion was still there two weeks later. I spent at least 45 minutes again updating my entire medical history and undergoing a pointless eye exam. This time, he never came in to examine my eye. I was brought to another waiting area, and asked if I still wanted the procedure. I said I guessed so, but had expected to be examined by the doctor first. They seated me in a different room, where they had set out the instruments needed for the procedure. He appeared, and I overheard him asking the technicians for my record. I told him I wanted him to examine my eye first, so we returned to the first room. He examined it, and said it was "very small" and that removing it wouldn't solve the problem with itching and swelling. He said that might be dermatitis, and told me he'd refer me to a plastic surgeon. I resented having to push so hard just for a simple exam from a doctor, and am concerned that he was ready to just go ahead with this procedure without having examined my eye at all. I know he didn't intend to examine it because he said, when I insisted, "I can't examine you in here," where they'd put me for the procedure. The waiting room is jam packed all the time, and this doctor, anyway, is impatient, rude, and careless. Never again. read more

after hearing my child had a name and gender change, I was suddenly told (after a long wait on hold) that "didn't take the insurance anymore" (no change in the insurance- been going there for years) then, when I pursued this question in person, they were forced to schedule an appt. then they cancelled-- "oh we're no longer do eye exams" "we are directing everyone to SPRINGFIELD now" (not BBB approved, really)They also cancelled my eye medication for serious eye disease out of vindictiveness because I didn't attend their "dry eye" clinic... which I never said I wanted to go to. My father ordered glasses from the Greenfield location on 3/14/20, ten days before they closed for COVID-19, after his previous pair broke. He has not received his new glasses (today, 4/17/20) and is really struggling without them. Their website says no new glasses or contacts will be ordered but these were already ordered (and paid for!) well before the shutdown. I've sat on hold for an unbelievably long time to see if the glasses are sitting on a desk somewhere and can be sent to him but haven't gotten through to a real person. I know we are in unprecedented times but eyeglasses are an essential item, not to mention necessary for quality of life, for a lot of people. read more

When Dr Patel performed the first eye surgery on my left eye on Sept 9th, I felt the sedation was barely adequate. I informed Dr Muhammad at the time that I didn't feel sedated enough. He administered more sedative. During my follow up appointment with Dr. Patel, I addressed my concern about my experience with not being anesthetized enough. Dr Patel said instead of increasing the drug used in the first procedure, he would recommend a different drug to be used during my second procedure on Oct 13th. When I went in for my second eye surgery, I told Dr Muhammad about the conversation between Dr Patel and myself. Dr Muhammad's response was to tell me either a person is put completely under or sedated, yet remaining conscious. He did not indicate a change in medication, nor did he seem to listen when I told him I didn't feel sedated enough. (I have had three colonoscopies and a lifetime of dental work which has given me plenty of experience with being sedated during medical procedures. I know when I am too aware.) Because of this, I was fairly alert during the surgery. So much so, the anesthesiologist in the operating room had to administer more drugs in the middle of the surgery; which was painful. I knew what was happening throughout the entire ordeal. Dr Patel called for help to hold my head, as it was "drifting left". Someone steadied my head for a short time. At one point, I know the doctor had to do this himself. Overall, your organization does an outstanding job in scheduling, communication before and after the surgeries. Your staff is professional and comfortably personal. However, my experience during the surgery was painful, scary and I feel totally preventable. This uncomfortable experience could have been avoided had Dr Muhammad listened more carefully and respected what I had to say. When asked by others "How did it go?", I give the clinic high marks, but I relay how horrible the procedures, especially the second one, went. read more

This is an example of how patient care suffers when an office gets too many doctors and locations. Available appointments are six to nine months in the future, misinformation is given out by the office, and mistakes made with insurance. I spent most of my two-hour long exam sitting by myself in rooms and then a nurse did a cursory exam and I only saw the doctor for five minutes at the end. I have been waiting for months to see a specific doctor and just found that the office has cancelled my appointment without any notification. I'm sure these set-ups are better for the doctors but they are terrible for the patients. read more

There was a glitch in my insurance (Ins Co. fault, not mine) Greenfield eye & laser made me self pay for an emergency visit as well as my usual $50 co-pay. they required a second visit the next day & again the self pay & $50 co-pay. they then sent the claims into my insurance & got paid AGAIN, but didn't tell me, jut kept the double payment, I found out from my ins. co they were paid twice. They never refunded my $$. I called in Aug & several times in Sept. asking for a refund. I kept getting a run around. Called again at the end of Oct. they still haven't issued my refund. Now they have been holding my money for 6 months ($400)..with still no answer as to sending my money back. they got paid TWICE, and have been holding my money for 6 months...no interest, money I need to pay my bills, but yet they keep it...WHY? they overcharge us customers.... read more

I have a few things going on with my eyes now that I'm over sixty. Thank God there is a fully staffed professional and full service eyecare practice in Greenfield! They accommodated me with an early morning appointment so I didn't have to miss work, they moved me briskly through the several stages of having my eyes measured and refracted, and then I was able to have an unhurried exam and consultation with a professional and highly qualified doctor who is a specialist in the issues I am experiencing. Yes, there are many different staff doing many different things but this is how high quality healthcare gets delivered today. I also recommend buying your glasses at the retail shop in their office. I invested in a pair of glasses at their shop that make the cheapie pair I got online look like the junk they are. Don't bother buying glasses online especially if you need bifocals. Finally, I missed an appointment with them and they didn't tell, lecture or charge me for it. Thank you! read more
