I have been coming here pretty much everyday before work for a coffee and smoothie. When I call and tell them my name, they know my order which I appreciated. 2 days ago, I went in as normal and the lady in the back told me that they will take care of me at the front. I got a card as well, went up and paid, & left. Yesterday when I went in a lady in the back told me the smoothie wasn't paid for. I was confused and checked my statement and gladly paid for it as the day before it appeared I was only charged for the card (not my mistake). When I went in this morning, the older lady who is usually pretty nice said to me with a few people around, "you need to pay this time". I thought that was pretty petty and unprofessional to say in front of other customers as well. Again I have been coming here for months and have spent well over $1,500 here in the last half year or so. After today I think that may change as it just isn't right to address something like that when it was a workers mistake not charging me correctly the first time around. read more

This is a small specialty market in Montecito. The center of the market is a counter to order sandwiches, wraps and salads. There's also prepared entrees to-go or to be warmed up and eaten on the patio. I go specifically for the frittatas. There's usually 5 or 6 different ones, sometimes more. My favorites are the cauliflower leek and the gluten free mushroom bell pepper. I've also enjoyed broccoli bacon. Not sure if they ever make egg white frittatas, but I haven't seen them. They also have a variety of different quiche which are also very good. This time I also tried their turkey meatloaf which tasted much better than it looked. Juice was undrinkable. Soup never came out. I arrived around 3:40 for a late lunch after the beach and was hoping for something hot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It was not crowded and a man greeted me right away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I didn't find the deli food appetizing so I ordered a soup. The man said it would come out near the checkout area. While I waited, I browsed the gourmet grocery, went upstairs to the lovely bathroom, and found the luxurious home goods/clothing store which had a lot of cool stuff, overpriced imo, but I enjoyed looking at the beautiful displays. I checked back downstairs, and still no soup. It wasn't that busy, so I was surprised. I wandered over to the juice bar and ordered a Large Lulu. Then checked back at the deli - by now it had been over 20 minutes and I needed to get going, so I inquired one more time about the soup - and the 2 people at the counter looked at me blankly, so I cancelled the soup and picked up my juice. Boy I wish I would've tasted it before I left a cash tip. But I didn't, I navigated to my next destination, and took a drink once I got off the windy road. All I could taste was lemon. With eight ingredients you'd think the first two would hit the palate, but I couldn't detect any pineapple or apple - not even the ginger which typically has a strong enough taste to show up. Don't get me wrong - I love lemons! In fact I drink I pint of lemon water every morning with 1/4-1/2 lemon, and I've done cleanses with lemon juice, but nothing as assaulting to my taste buds as the amount of lemon in this drink. This leads me to believe that the juices are not actually fresh squeezed as described on the menu. You'd think for a drink like this you'd add 1/4 of a lemon max...how could you get that wrong? It was so much lemon it's hard to wrap my mind around the creator not realizing she added too much of the bottled or pre-juiced lemon, in which case she needed to remake the juice. I'd have to agree with other reviewers about the inconsistency at this establishment, because while I was waiting to order, I asked a young girl what her favorite juice was and she enthusiastically recommended the Lulu. Mind boggling. Mine was undrinkable. First and last visit to Pierre Lafond. I thought to call to speak to the manager, so I checked the receipt... the juice maker's name was "Cashier." Found this spot and so glad I did! Had the quiche and French baguette. Really, really good! Quaint and a great selection of savory meals! As soon as I hit Pierre La Fond parking lot, my bank account contain millions and my Toyota Rav 4 just turned into a Tesla. Basically that's how I feel when I step into this market. I feel scene worthy even if it's by imaginations. My usual go to treat is their wine cake and peanut butter bars but today it's a breakfast moment for quiche. It's creamy, flavorful and crustless. Yet, there are times where it appears over-baked and beyond toasted with the appearance of a darkened outer shell. 1. very inconsistent 2. Sometimes the staff are so sweet and sometimes they have so much attitude. For example today I had done an order for a coffee drink and two smoothies. The same order I had done yesterday. The girls seemed distracted. They were than talking to each other and the one that I had given the order to was telling the other one to make a mocha. I said Oh if that's for me I ordered ordered a latte with oat milk. She just looked at me dismissively Saying we're having a different conversation. It's not about your order. I apologized and said I was just trying to help. There was no effort to be like oh it's OK. Just attitude. 3. The chocolate near the smoothie came out runny like a juice. It was missing I don't know how many ingredients. 4. As I was leaving I showed it to the manager, and he tried to grab them and say he would remake them. I said I already took a sip from it I didn't know what was missing from it but it was more than just ice. I didn't think they should take it and throw it back in the blender since I took a sip from one I told him I'd come back the next day or two and he can fix it or make it up then. I told him I had an appointment on the other side of town that I needed to get to. It was already about 1140 and my appointment was at 12 noon. I must've had to repeat that three times. He wanted to redo things and I said I didn't have time but I could come in and he could try to fix it another time. I have felt sick all day since I had it. So as my daughter who had hers. We actually put it back into the blender and added more ice and a little bit of hemp hearts because they didn't seem to include those. They also seem to have missed the cocoa nibs The day before it was so good we came back again today Unfortunately the inconsistency is a regular issue. Sometimes people are absolutely so sweet and sometimes they have so much attitude - so service is inconsistent. 5. I have liked going there and bumping into neighbors or meeting friends outside. I'll go months without going after a bad experience and then I'll try again. It's just common cycle which I've heard from many friends as well The male manager has been there a long time. I believe his name starts with a J. Again I really don't know what they put in that smoothie today but it was awful. A quaint little market with upscale carry-out food. I ordered a spinach lasagna, a quiche, and grainless chips. Huge portions - and the total was only $17. It feels so relaxing and hyper-local to visit here. I may need to come more often because the staff looked at me suspiciously. They must be used to their locals and regulars. For upscale Montecito I was expecting a superb service...it was slow as well. I stopped yesterday and the way back to San Jose after spending the weekend in the area.
