    The Don
    Gracie G.

I can't get a enough of this place! I'm thinking of going once a week, because i want to try sooo many items. I've already been a couple of times. The first time i shared the Don and bottle of wine since it's in the public market. Another time i took the sandwich to go and ate at my desk, and only ate 1/2 too! I want to try a breakfast sandwich or salad next time.

Potato Salad on the left(was not filled to the top like the coleslaw), coleslaw on the right
    Jennifer K.

Was excited that there was a new deli shop but to my disappointment it was not what I expected. First of all the way they packed the Don to-go was horrible and messy. Couldn't they have wrapped it in a sandwich paper and split it into two instead of three like most sandwich places?...I mean they wrapped the rachel sandwich. The potato salad was not full like the coleslaw. The coleslaw was just ok, was not the most flavorful and the potato salad was not exactly my cup of tea. The don was good and had more meat than the rachel but nothing particularly stood out. The rachel was a little disappointing, would have preferred if it had more pastrami to even out the bread so the meat to bread ratio would be equal. Most likely won't be coming back here, will stick to my usual sandwich places I go to.

From left to right, just half a Gobbler and O.G. sandwich... with bites taken (couldn't resist)

Highly recommend. If you're in Santa Barbara and looking to pick up a legit deli sandwich, look no further. We devoured the O.G. (pastrami on rye) and the Gobbler (turkey, swiss, and more) in record time. Just zoom into our pic. Both sandwiches were packed with freshness and flavor. And loaded with quality meats / ingredients. It's now located at the rear left of the Public Market. So, if someone else in your group wants Mexican, Japanese, or say tenders, you can pick those up there too.

    Salmon Sammy

Located in the Public Market, towards the back, this deli provides breakfast all day. The salmon Sammy on an everything bagel is filling and delicious. The sandwich is of generous size and flavorful. It has egg, arugula and tomatoes to go along with the sandwich. Enough protein to keep you full. The avocado toast is another delicious treat that they offer with an egg on top. The bread is soft and easy to take a bite. Not hard nor stale. The drizzle of the sauce on top is an amazing touch to the flavor profile. They are friendly and answer questions that you have. Will definitely go back to try other menu items.

An absolutely monstrosity of a sandwich. Almost too much. But service was solid and food was great.

This bagel shop operates in a single room looking house, it's very quaint and decorated very cozily inside. They have a bathroom for customers and plenty of outdoor seating, as the inside of the restaurant is on the smaller side. The bagels here are incredible! Very soft and pillowy textures with lots of flavor. I love the unique flavors for both the bagels and the cream cheeses. It was so fun and delicious getting to try them. Ikura - 10/5, the soy sauce-cured ikura was some of the best I've ever had! It paired so well with the tobiko cream cheese and furikake bagel. The pickled onions were a great touch. I love this flavor combination, it was an umami bomb! Heirloom tomato - 5/5, paired this with the garlic herb cream cheese and jalapeño cheddar bagel. This is such a classic summer seasonal bagel, and I loved the chives on top of the heirloom tomatoes. Very delicate and delicious flavors. Lox - 3/5, a decent lox bagel but underwhelming in comparison to the other options and flavors available. The gravlax lacked flavor, and I felt like it was undersalted during the curing process. Pinoy Palmer- 5/5, a delicious mango iced tea with calamansi juice. I thought this was a fun Filipino twist on the drink. I would have liked a bit more calamansi juice to make it brighter and sweeter, but it was still definitely tasty! Caramelized banana latte - 5/5, delicious sweet coffee with a hint of banana flavor. I personally love banana so I wouldn't mind it being stronger, but this way anyone can its subtlety.

Absolutely great bagel, friendly service, lots of options…read more I ordered the Montecito, which is definitely pricey but it is really delicious. I wouldn't order again because of the price. We sat outside, they brought our orders out to us. Very busy, lots of foot and parking lot traffic on Saturday morning. If that's your vibe, go there. I was just looking for a classic bacon, egg, and cheese, so luckily we found Jack's. When you walk in, it feels just like an old school neighborhood donut shop, except they're serving bagels and coffee. My bacon, egg, and cheese was delicious. I ordered it on a jalapeño cheddar bagel and it hit the spot. For a $7 bagel, this was fantastic. Filling, flavorful, and the schmear was on point. My wife, on the other hand, ordered the bagel and lox. This was a bit of a letdown. The cream cheese was delicious and the sesame bagel itself was great, but it was definitely lacking the lox. Truthfully, it felt more like a cream cheese bagel with just a little bit of salmon. That said, considering the price, it honestly makes sense. Not trying to take anything away from the place because overall it was great. The service was super friendly, attentive, and just easygoing. You could definitely tell they have regulars who come in every day because it felt like one big family in there. Last but not least, the black coffee was surprisingly fresh and bold. Nothing fancy, just a really solid cup of coffee. Would I come here again? Definitely. Anytime I'm in Santa Barbara, I'd happily stop by again.

We had a tough time finding a place to hang out and kill time in Santa Barbara waiting out traffic…read morebefore continuing on to LA. We tried multiple other places that didn't have outdoor seating (so not dog friendly), but then we found Caje on State Street. It's on a protected set of streets where there are lots of shops and stores. There's common outdoor seating just outside the store, which met our objective of hanging out with the dog. Granted it was a hot day, but this store was really really hot inside, like unpleasantly so. I felt bad for the barista! The coffee is reasonably priced, all things considered (fancy flavors, Santa Barbara, crowded location) and the flavor was nice and not one I've personally had before. I asked to go light on the ice and they did a good job there. The wait was a bit long, but we weren't in a hurry, so it was all fine. Good place to stop and relax and have a good tasting coffee.

We stopped here during our road trip, excited to finally try the Bella Rose Matcha after seeing all…read morethe dreamy promo photos-rose petals, a fresh strawberry, elegant glassware, the full aesthetic. What I got instead? A plastic to-go cup with iced matcha and a sprinkle of beet powder. No rose petals. No strawberry. No presentation. (See attached.) When I asked where the rose petals were, the barista seemed visibly annoyed and just said they had "run out." No apology, no heads-up at the time of ordering. I mentioned the drink didn't look anything like the photos, and he responded that this location only does to-go orders and doesn't serve anything the way it's advertised. Nowhere on the menu or website does it say that-which honestly feels deceptive. To make things worse, while we waited, two of the barista's friends came by and hovered near the counter like they were customers, but it was clear they hadn't actually ordered anything. Normally, I wouldn't care, but it was already taking 10-15 minutes to get our drinks and he seemed fully caught up chatting with them while preparing orders. I get that they probably had a crazy morning rush (it seemed never-ending), but in that moment he seemed distracted and disengaged and when he announced our drinks and I asked about the missing rose petals, it felt dismissive and unprofessional. My sister ordered a vanilla latte that had a cute heart in the foam, and my mom got a chai latte with cinnamon around the rim-it looked and smelled amazing. They both got everything bagels; my sister's had roasted veggies on it. I got a blueberry muffin, which was solid. The female staff were genuinely sweet and welcoming, so props to them for keeping a warm vibe going despite the chaos. The real letdown was the atmosphere. There was nowhere clean to sit. The only usable table was in the mall corridor, and I had to lay down napkins over a fresh puddle of dog pee just to sit. Every other table was dirty or taken. We were traveling with our pup and just wanted a calm, decent breakfast before another long drive, and this was not the vibe. The drinks and food tasted fine, but the whole experience felt scattered, unwelcoming, and nothing like what's advertised online. If you're coming for the aesthetic or a relaxing café moment, don't go to this location.

From getting in line to receiving our entire order, it took about 15 minutes total. Parking is easy with a large plaza lot, although seating inside can be tougher. It was completely full when we arrived, but we got lucky and snagged a table as someone was leaving. We ordered the Osmanthus Matcha Cream, Hojicha Black Sesame, Pandan Coconut Matcha, Vietnamese Coffee, Cinnamon Sugar Mochi Donut, and Buko Pie Mochi Donut. They also served us complimentary barley tea when ordering. Everything was delicious and absolutely lived up to the hype! The Osmanthus Matcha Cream was easily the biggest surprise and highlight for us. It was creamy while somehow still tasting light and refreshing, and we've honestly never had anything quite like it. It's made in limited quantities and sold out just a few minutes after we ordered, so I'd definitely recommend getting it early if it's available. The Hojicha Black Sesame was another standout. I've tried this combination at a few other cafes, but Kin does it better than any version I've had. Both flavors came through really well without either overpowering the other. The Pandan Coconut Matcha was also great, although I've had similar drinks at quite a few cafes throughout California, so it was harder for this one to stand out as much. The Vietnamese Coffee was solid too, but a little sweet for my preference. Personally, I think their tea-based drinks are much more memorable. Their mochi donuts were incredible too and easily some of the best I've had. Both were SO soft with that slightly bouncy mochi texture. I especially loved the Cinnamon Sugar Mochi Donut because it genuinely tasted like a churro in mochi donut form. Service was amazing throughout our visit, and I also love that the menu is projected onto the wall and updated as items sell out. Overall, Kin Bakeshop absolutely lived up to the hype for me. There are already so many other things I want to try, and I'm definitely looking forward to coming back!

We got here Friday around 12n and there were a dozen high schoolers (from next door) in line. We got here on Sunday at 9:35am (they opened at 9:30) and there were approximately 20-24 people in line. I asked a woman who was just coming out and she said she got there at 8:45a and was first in line (45 minutes before opening)! We had wine-tasting in Los Olivas to attend so we timed our return for just-before-closing (4pm). We pulled in at 3:57pm and raced to the front door just as the manager was about to hang a "closed" sign up! On both days we ordered the black sesame matcha. These are $7 and only 8 oz but heavenly. They were out of most all food items on Sunday but on Friday I got a couple of their famed mochi donuts ($4). Imagine a donut (as you can see from the picture, they are round but slender with "knobs") but with a chewy mochi-like texture. Between their unique flavor combos and that amazing texture, these are worth the wait (and I generally never eat donuts because of their complete lack of nutritional value)! But that matcha -- they hand-pestle finish all of their matchas! There's a large window (albeit with a thinly weaved curtain drawn) where you can watch the kitchen in action). The black sesame cream is super thick and layered on the bottom first. The drink comes with a long (7 inch) wooden spoon and you are kindly instructed to draw that spoon out slowly and sample the sweet cream coated in matcha, before ultimately stirring the drink thoroughly. The experience along with the very-lightly-sweetened, softly nutty/sesame concoction are divine... and, yes, the whole reason we raced back on our last day in SB to grab one more taste.
