This place also offers additional services where they can give you your tags on the spot for additional $30 fee. I say it is pretty good deal if your tag is expiring soon and you need asap. Got 91 MR2 Turbo smogged, paid for registration, and got my tags all at the same spot! There were about 4 cars ahead of me and I was only there about 30mins, that's pretty darn fast considering the number of cars ahead of me. This will be the only smog shop I go to from now on. I needed a smog in the morning and this was the only smog shop open I called they answered decently fast and they told me to come on down they told me to pull in and started doing the test the people are cool and was done in no time . The one things I did find a little off setting was one they didn't tell me the price before I started but also didn't ask so that's on me and it was 60 so not bad Average is 50. Called Pierce Smog to see if they could get me in for a smog on short notice. Chris told me to come down and they could get it done. My car was done in about 15-20 minutes. I also needed to register the car I just bought, which Chris said they had DMV service there as well. Saved me a trip to the DMV. ‼BEWARE!‼ BE CAREFUL‼ If you decide to get your vehicle smog here. Make sure to ask for a "PRE-TEST". They will FAIL your VEHICLE and tell you to come back giving you 10 days no charge receipt. On your second reinspected visit they will THEN "PRE-SMOG CHECK" your vehicle (which any great smog check center would do this on your FIRST VISIT). They will plug the code reader to your car and tell you we can't smog test your vehicle because the code reader is showing you have codes. Telling you to fix your codes then come back but will charge you again for the second test. This was my experience. After, all this ordeal with this unprofessional shop all the money and time I wasted. I went to another smog center a few miles away with my "FAILED TEST" truck before I could say anything the technician did a "Pre-Smog Check" to my truck plug the code reader and told me my truck "codes" were just stored codes in my truck computer history. I was happy to hear I didn't have to "fix or smog repair" my truck. My truck passed the smog test and I finally got my certificate. Lucky for me I only paid $40 out the door with certificate included. The price for the smog test at Pierce Smog is way too high compare to other smog centers few miles away. They charged me more than $65 and kept insisting to get registration service there. I said no thanks, I have AAA. If you're reading this review and decide to smog test at Pierce Smog PLEASE DON'T FORGET TO ASK FOR A "PRE-TEST SMOG CHECK!!" I DO NOT RECOMMEND PIERCE SMOG!! read more

My husband just took his truck in for a smog check. This place failed our smog test because they claimed there wasn't a timing mark on the pulley. My husband and I had it home for less than 5 minutes before we were able to locate the timing mark on our own. (Please see attached photo) My husband called and told them we found it. Instead of rectifying their mistake immediately, as it's only close to 3pm, they told him to bring it back "tomorrow morning and I'll take care of you". You missed it, dude. Why do we have to waste our time waiting on you to do the job we already paid you $60 to do?? I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE. Blatantly ripping off their community. No thanks. read more

This is the first time I have my car for smog check and had no clue where to get one. A friend forwarded me a list and tried Pierce Smog. Went there without any appointment. Chris was so prompt, explained how it works and how long it would take then had me wait in the waiting area. I've been coming here for a few years and I feel this place is pretty solid. I've never had a bad experience or felt like they were trying to scam me, especially as a woman that really matters since a lot of auto places think we don't know anything about cars. Parking is very limited so I suggest getting there early. There usually isn't anyone at the front desk so just speak with the guys in the garage. The waiting room is small with a couple chairs and looks like your usual small business auto shop, I don't think there's AC but I could be wrong. It cost $50 to get my car smogged and they offer registration tags too. All employees have been friendly and respectful upon every visit, overall I recommend getting your smog check here if you live in the area. read more

I initially brought my vehicle because I needed a Smog to renew my tags on 5/17. However, my check engine light was on. I was attended promptly and I asked if it could still be done with the check engine light on. I was told that they would check the car. A short time later I was told that the car failed because the check engine light was on and I was charged the smog fee. I complained that he ran the test knowing it would fail. I was told to come back after fixing the problem and I would be taken care of. It took me some time (4 months...lol...I'm a busy guy) to get the problem fixed but after fixing the problem I brought it back and was told that there was still an issue and I needed to drive it longer (even though i drove over 600 miles after the repair-most of which were highway). I was shown the OBD error so I know he was being truthful. I drove the car some more over 2 weeks and I brought it back today and was told that the car could be smogged for a $40 retest fee (I paid $35 for the initial promotional test). I reminded the attendant he said he would "take care" of me. I also reminded him that he attempted to smog my car with the check engine light on knowing it would fail. I asked him if he had ever passed a car with a check engine light on and he nodded his head "no." When I asked him why he initially ran my car he responded that "that's what I asked for." Why would I agree to be charged for a test I know would fail??? Chalk it up to a misunderstanding I guess. Lesson learned! I did get a card for a free pretest though... lol I gave an extra star because the attendant was actually nice and every time I came in the service was prompt. read more
