I've been a regular customer at Pier Wines for almost two years, and my experiences there have been very mixed depending on who is working. I want to specifically highlight Phillip, who consistently goes above and beyond in creating a welcoming and positive experience. He is professional, kind, knowledgeable, and genuinely charismatic. He makes customers feel comfortable, takes the time to answer questions, and represents what a neighborhood wine shop should be. Interactions with him are always pleasant and positive. Unfortunately, my experiences with Stefon have been consistently negative. This is not an isolated incident, he is routinely rude and dismissive. While Stefon is knowledgeable about wine, customer service is also a fundamental part of the job, and product knowledge alone does not excuse disrespectful behavior. Most recently, during an incoming snowstorm, I called to ask whether store hours would be affected, as many local businesses were adjusting their schedules. Instead of receiving a straightforward response, I was spoken to disrespectfully both over the phone and in person and was told that if I had "gone on Google," I would have known the store hours. That response was unnecessary and unprofessional given the circumstances. Pier Wines is located in a residential neighborhood with many local customers who frequent the store, and customer service truly matters. Employees like Phillip, who consistently provide a welcoming, professional, and knowledgeable experience, are the reason customers want to return, while repeated negative interactions with Stefon have had the opposite effect. read more

Pier wines is a wonderful, neighborhood liquor store but more than that. Phil is such a pleasure to deal with and he knows since covid i don't drink much anymore, used to love my wines from Argentina, Chilé, Brazil, etc. My dog will drag me in to get a treat & then I ask Phil & the staff for recommendations for wine for my parents & they hit the nail on the head. I FUCKING love this place ! Every Monday when I arrive home from the shore before I pull into my garage I go shop with Daniel and these amazing young men. They are warm and friendly and i tell them exactly what I want and my budget and they pull the bottles off the shelf for me. THIS IS A MUST SHOP FOR WINE AND SPIRITS in Williamsburg. Liquor stores can be liquor stores. But this places puts themselves above the rest. I have been introduced to new wines and liquors because of the knowledge of the guys at the store. Make sure to go there at least twice because it's worth it. read more

Decent priced wines with excellent selections. There are many wineries around Williamsburg area but this one is the one I go whenever I need a bottle. The staff explains the occasion of their selections so I know I'd get the right one. I know there is another winery a couple blocks away which is little bigger than this one but for some reason I find this one bit for friendly. read more

I live close by and these guys always have a Friday night event from cocktail tasting, through to wines. Great selection, and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They also deliver locally (and quickly!), so perfect if you are already snuggled on the sofa and need a bottle of wine brought over. One of my favourite stores, well recommended. read more

Pier Wines is the best wine store in Williamsburg! The staff bend over backwards to get whatever i desire, they offer free delivery in the neighbourhood and they have an excellent selection of wines. A nice little wine shop right by the pier sandwiched by luxury condos. The selection is quite nice with a well curated list. Should you require recommendations to fit your taste and budget, the owner is knowledgeable and friendly. Though I have not attended one, tastings take place weekly, Friday evenings. Very small wine shop with an extremely well curated wine and liquor selection. The owner is very knowledgeable and quick to provide very good suggestions. Moreover, I am indebted to the owner for finding me Ypioca Oura brand cachaca. They now stock the cachaca, and I can't recommend it highly enough. The store does a great job at creating excitement around wine shopping. My only qualm with the store is that the selection in the 12-25 range has seemed a bit static for awhile, but again the store is small and the shelf space is limited. read more

Pier Wines is great. They always seem to recommend a wine I haven't had before, and I end up loving it. They also carry Tito's vodka which happens to be my favorite. I find the prices to be very reasonable. More importantly The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly. read more

What an amazing place! I was searching for a special gin and of course, they had it! Being from MA, I had the item shipped to a family member's home in CT. Fed Ex wasn't able to drop it off and we had a crazy complicated ordeal with Fed Ex! The store rectified the situation and was so incredibly helpful, I wish they were closer to me because I would give them my business more regularly! They have incredibly kind and helpful staff and owners, can't express enough my gratitude for all of their help and for their high quality products. Good customer service is rare these days, but you wouldn't know it by how helpful the staff at Pier Wines are. We were regular customers of this shop our first couple of months in the neighborhood, but stopped going when one of the employees called my husband a f*ggot. This happened directly outside the door fo Pier Wines, as the employee nearly hit us with his bike as he was riding recklessly on the sidewalk (you will notice that there are often custom fixed-gear bikes parked outside or inside the shop, and it was not the first time one of their owners was driving recklessly on the sidewalk, without using his breaks). My husband reflexively put out his arm to protect me/us from the bike hitting us and the couple next to us, and it hit him in the arm; the employee shouted "get away from me, you f*cking f*ggot!" then entered the store with his bike. As frequent customers, he as a Pier Wines employee, and his bike, were instantly recognizable to us. If you, like I, find this type of hateful speech reprehensible and see it as a threat to the safe, inclusive feeling of our neighborhood, I suggest you walk just two blocks down the street to the fantastic wine selection and friendly staff at Red, White & Green Wines. read more
