A lovely location at the end of the pier. The seafood is not going to change your life, but it's all perfectly fine. The salmon salad and clam chowder are two of the better bets. Service was pleasant.

If you want a quick seafood fix this will do. Prices are a bit high because of the location and it's quite a touristy place. Crab cakes and salad are good for a light lunch. Beer is overpriced. They have a happy hour. Not open late.

We were starving after the ferry ride and Pier Bistro looked pretty good from our quick search of the Sidney area. It's located right along the docks beside the Seafood Market shop. We came in for a late 2:00pm Friday afternoon lunch. The place was busy with all the old, retired grannies meeting up. They have a patio right out front but also a covered patio if you walk inside. - Halibut & salmon quiche ($14.99) - served with hollandaise on top and your choice of side. I went with their soup of the day, a salmon bisque. Bisque was good but the quiche needed some seasoning and acidity. It also could have had a better crust. - Seafood clam chowder & crab cakes ($15.99) - a cup of chowder, two pan fried crab cakes and grilled pita. Their known for their clam chowder but we thought it was pretty bland. It needed seasoning; we had to throw in some pepper, which I never do. The crab cakes were tasty. The sauce had a surprisingly nice kick to it. Pitas were wasted calories. Get the crab cakes if you go. They clearly cater their food to the locals so keep that in mind if you're going to go...

This was my second time here and it did not disappoint. The staff were all very friendly. The restaurant is tiny tiny ( if you have a big group I wouldn't recommend) so if your timing isn't great you may have to wait for a table. I had the one piece cod fish and chips. It came out quick and was nice and hot. The fish was incredible!!! One of the best I have had. The fries were good but I just prefer them to be a bit crunchier - still lots of flavour. I recommend if you are in the area to make a stop here.

Lovely little bistro at the end of the pier in Sidney BC! Great location. And a good medium priced menu. Food was fresh, especially liked the home made fries. I had a very tasty oyster burger, Fanny Bay Oysters. My spouse had the Club House sandwich. Everything was delicious and good value for the price. Despite Covid protocols we felt relaxed and comfortable.

Simple but good fish and chips with fresh halibut

A wonder fish (halibut) and chips. A nice location at the end of pier with lots of outside seating. Blankets on the chairs too if it breezes. A simple fish and chips but fresh and flakey. Maybe a little heavy on breaking but still a treat. A nice beer selection. Four stars for location and a wonderful flakey fish and chips!!

    Halibut and Salmon Quiche

Lovely little place on the pier! I went with the Halibut and Salmon Quiche with a side of soup(which, by the way, is an amazing way to warm up the belly on a blustery day). The quiche was spot on with a light flaky crust and chock full of fish pieces. The photo of the inside doesn't do it justice because after a few more bites, the pieces of halibut and salmon became distinctly larger but I was too enraptured by the overall deliciousness to snap a better picture and ended up devouring it rather quickly. The side of soup was hot and hearty. Once you give it a good mix, you realize instantly just how much salmon they put in it. I think it was salmon at least, but I could be wrong. I know I was a yummy kind of fish regardless! And it was a big bowl of soup too which pleased me. Overall a tasty and filling lunch! Great place to snag a bite to eat if you find yourself hungry and in the area :)

I'm from San Francisco, CA, and I was in Canada for vacation and my family stopped by for a quick lunch. This place, hands down, has the best clam chowder and fish and chips I've ever had. And their tartar sauce is perfect. The view of the ocean is also beautiful. And the service was great! No complaints.

Rabin was very efficient and attentive a most delightful waiter, we were very pleased with him. I realize Ten Acres is separate from Pier Hotel but we were surprised that the girl serving in the Bar was very naked at the back also wearing jeans. A very bad advert for the Pier Hotel usually staff are dressed like that in lower class restaurants. The waiters were dressed very smart. We are from Toronto. E. Y.

This visit was deeply disappointing and nowhere near the standard this restaurant once maintained…read more I dined here in November 2024 and had an excellent experience, which is why I confidently recommended it for a lunch outing. Based on this most recent visit, that confidence was misplaced. My meal was served on a visibly dirty plate. That is not a minor oversight -- it is a fundamental failure. Cleanliness is the bare minimum in food service, particularly at nearly $30 per entrée. There is no justification for serving food on a dirty dish. I later felt unwell, which only heightened my concern about overall hygiene practices. The food itself did not justify the pricing. The lamb burger was dry and lacked the juiciness one would reasonably expect, even with tzatziki. The fries were low-grade and out of place for a restaurant positioning itself at this price level. Premium pricing demands premium execution. That standard was not met. The revised dining layout also detracts from the experience. The high tables and chairs create an uncomfortable and less welcoming atmosphere. Notably, during our visit, no guests chose to sit at them -- everyone gravitated toward standard seating. That alone speaks volumes. Restoring the previous table configuration would significantly improve comfort and ambiance. The service was equally underwhelming. At this price point, guests should receive attentive, polished, and genuinely welcoming service. Instead, both the waitress and food runners appeared disengaged. When customers are spending this much, attitude and professionalism are not optional -- they are expected. After returning home, I reviewed feedback from the past year and was struck by the consistency of similar complaints. The pattern is clear: standards have declined. This establishment was once very good. It is capable of better. However, until cleanliness, food quality, atmosphere, and service standards are brought back to where they were, it cannot justify its pricing. At this level, "acceptable" is not enough. The standard needs to be significantly higher.

It's pricey here but eh, what isn't over in this area? Also, at 11.3 ABV, maybe don't have three. The clam chowder is the best I've had yet, and that tops even where I'm spending my summer. Sorry not sorry. Ordered the crab cake platter with wasabi aioli as well and it did not disappoint. Reminds me of grand-moms house. So good! Let's talk about service. Not one, but two servers taking care of lil ole me. Both so friendly. They allowed me to enjoy my beer and when I said I wanted to take my time, they honored that without rushing food or service. The ambiance is pretty casual, family friendly, and right on "the strip" so you can walk off those delicious calories you indulged in. I will be back and will be bringing a crew with me next time. Hook & Line Pub delivers fresh seafood deliciousness and a casual environment that is welcoming, friendly, and ultimately satisfying.

Foods I ordered: * 2 Baja Halibut Fish Tacos…read more Seafood Basket (Shrimp, Cod, Halibut) Halibut Fish Tacos: 5/5 These were battered to perfection, with a thick, flaky, and tender cut of halibut pairing well with the coleslaw and cilantro. Whenever I travel to coastal cities, I'm always on the lookout for good fish tacos, and these were definitely delicious. Since they were about $25 for two tacos, it was definitely a "one and done" for me. Seafood Basket: 4/5 This is your typical fried seafood basket, including halibut, cod, and shrimp. All the seafood was fresh. I enjoyed the shrimp; they were bouncy, but not rubbery like frozen shrimp. The cod was flaky and plump. The halibut was the same cut as the fish tacos--denser and packed with flavor. I really liked this dish, but after a couple of bites, the heavy fried food definitely got to me. It'd be better if they served this with a side of coleslaw or vegetables to balance out the entire meal.
