First, the website is lacking information. Went on Sunday and found they only have a brunch menu. Service seemed slow despite only about 8-9 occupied tables - water was not filled. The menu has very few vegetarian options and is very pricey - be prepared for ~$30 entrees (despite this being at lunch time (remember no lunch menu on Sunday). The food was excellent. Walleye fish & chips had a nicely crisp crust with moist fish. The jalapeño aioli was exceptionally flavorful and the tartar sauce was freshly made. Grass fed beef burger was also cooked to a perfect medium. Overall good food, pricey, but really need to improve service. read more

I called & spoke with a manager to ask about the height of the beds as I use a wheelchair & need to know whether or not the beds are going to be too high to get into. She was pretty vague & said they were between 2.5 - 3.5 feet high. When I mentioned this was too high & kindly asked if they would be able to take the mattress off the frame, she was quick to say no. When I asked if she could double check if this is feasible, she said she would check with her maintenance staff & call me back later that day. 3 days later & still no call back. I'm disappointed that there is such lack of accommodation & understanding of need. My dollars are just as valuable as everybody else's. You lost my business & maybe others' because of this. read more

Beware.. big issue with theft on their property. Numerous cars have been broken into in their parking lots. Garages have been broken into as well as hotel golf carts stolen. Even though the hotel has security cams and is not in a high traffic area, would highly recommend bringing anything of value into your room. read more

Long wait. Expected since we were having dinner before a concert. Nice enough staff though, just not enough of them. Dinner started out delish, until I found a hair. Cooked into the food so it had been there awhile. Not enough time to wait for a new order so I left hungry. They did make it right, comped my meal. Beautiful view, would try this place again. Perhaps just on a slower evening. read more

Overall the hotel itself was nice. Great hot tub, pool, view, fire pits, workout facilities and kids loved it. However, the staff working in all locations seemed a little off. Front desk: Waiting for front desk to check in, computer down when checking out, asked them to unlock the deadbolt to the pool in the morning. They just ignore so you couldn't get back in from the hot tub outside. Out of coffee at front desk. Pool: They decided to clean the pool during operating hours instead of when it was closed. So kids had to sit and wait. The pool was very nasty from so many kids, would have thought you would clean the pool before opening at 8 am. Restaurant: staff was not very attentive. At bar or on restaurant. Dinner was good. Breakfast- They only offer buffet. And during that, bacon, fruit, Yogurt was out, plates kept running low. For that being the only option. Not very impressive. And food was cold. Fitness area: nice area. But no towels available or wipes to wipe down machines. Bon fire:great s'mores for kids. Location: great. They offered bikes to use. Overall the hotel was a great hotel. Just staff not very good which made the experience not as good. read more

We stayed at Pier B for a weekend away as a couple. For Silos....The bar service, drinks and appetizers were great. We had breakfast one morning sitting outside. It was nice sitting near the water and love the fact this hotel/restaurant is away from Canal Park. The food was ok. They were not staffed well and it took awhile for coffee, our order and food to arrive. This said, we weren't in a rush other than for the coffee :). I highly recommend staying at Pier B over any Canal Park hotel..great location, hot tub is great (salt water and by lake semi enclosed) and shuttle service will take you anywhere in Duluth or nearby. Also next door to park for the festivities. read more

Gorgeous location, establishment, view and food! Service was very sweet and kind as well. My only "complaints" is the extremely limited breakfast menu and lack of healthy options... Other than that, I would highly recommend this to anyone looking for a nice experience. read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Pier B in March. The staff was friendly, helpful and thought the rooms and property were very nice. The free shuttle took us out for dinner and picked us up promptly afterwards. I highly recommend staying here while in the Duluth area! read more

A beautiful hotel and right on the water. Nice rooms, restaurant was good and pool and outdoor hot tub were great. Although it was very slippery near the outdoor hot tub. Almost slipped walking out there. Staff was extremely rude and I felt like they still needed to work out many kinks. One of the reasons why we choose this hotel was upon booking we were told we could walk the bridge over to bentlyville. That apparently isn't the case. The front desk guy said yes we could then we arrive to go to bentlyville and the gate is closed and closes at 4. Ummm so we walk all around to the gate and missed the count down. We walked further then we woood have if we parked there. This was the biggest selling point for myself as I have a bad back. Every one seemed to give us a different story. A day after we checked in I was flagged down in the parking lot asking if I was a hotel guest. I said yes and she asked where my parking pass was. I said I didn't get one when we checked in and she said then you shoood have been towed last night. LOL that's not my fault you guys never gave us one. Also I was parking in the wrong spot apparently as way far away is for hotel guest and close spots are for restaurant guest? Great hotel, great views but staff needs to be on the same page and a little more friendly! read more

A billing nightmare. Bogus charges, "authorized holds", on and on and on. Our bank debit card bounced at dinner in town because of various charges that simply weren't true (we were charged 3x what we owed before we even checked out). The manager tried to help us, and yet today, we got yet another fake charge from the hotel. There appear to be no financial checks and balances and sadly, the place appears to be run by kids who try very very hard, but have no authority. The manager was very nice and tried very hard, but she can't fix a clearly flawed billing system. We've stayed before and liked it alot. But it isn't worth it given the hassle. We are a strict budget and only use our debit card. So when Pier B overbilled us we weren't able to finish our planned celebration. And as of today (the next day) we're overdrawn due to yet another bogus charge. read more

Went here for a wedding this summer and really enjoyed my stay. The rooms were clean and the beds were insanely comfortable. The hotel lets you rent bikes so you can go around the lake. Overall, had a blast in Duluth read more

Don't waste your money. Plenty of great options in Duluth that aren't run this poorly. We stayed one night for the boat show in February and it was terrible. The room itself was clean and the decor is fine. The front desk staff though. Wow are they bad. I dealt with a total of 3 of them and they all treated a concern the same way... ignore it. We checked in and I noticed right away that we would need an extra shampoo. I called the front desk at 6:30 pm to get one. "Right away" I was told. Nothing. There was a squealing sound in my room all night long. Called at 11 and asked if it was okay to unplug the wine cooler as that was likely the culprit. "No, we will send someone up". Nothing. Drunk people walking down the halls at 2 in the morning, shouting. Very classy. Next morning I get up and we HAVE to shower so we can leave. I call the front desk AGAIN and ask for a shampoo. "Right away" I am told. I can hear housekeeping in the hallway! If they called housekeeping "right away" they would have just knocked on my door. They didn't. I wait for 20 minutes, then finally lose my patience and go out and ask housekeeping for a shampoo (which they provide immediately of course) and go take my shower. An hour after that we are all packed up and ready to go, and apparently the front desk FINALLY decided to do their job and they radioed housekeeping. They knock on my door and hand me 5 shampoos and head off to clean rooms. I go to check out and the girl asks me how my stay was. I tell her it was terrible. She says "Well that's not good, we should do something for you" and immediately proceeds to say thank you and have a good day. Nothing. Did I get a discount off my room on my card? No. Did they email me a discount code for my next stay? no. Nothing. I call to tell them they have an issue and I am hung up on. I emailed and never received a reply. Nothing. If I did my job that poorly I would get fired. It doesn't take long to get a bad reputation among locals since word of mouth is a real thing... and this local is telling everyone she can how bad it was. As someone who has worked in the hospitality industry for 20 years I can say I will never spend another penny at a place that treats their complaints like that. I am also in a unique position to recommend places to stay in the Duluth area (being a native and dealing with tourists just north of there every day) and I will actively send people elsewhere because I would be horrified if I ever sent someone to a place that treated customers that poorly. We didn't try the restaurant because they did not bother putting a menu in the rooms, which seems odd considering they offer room service. Really, just stay elsewhere for less money and save yourself the frustration. read more

Very nice property, nice staff, and clean comfortable rooms in an amazing location. Pool was very nice and clean, as was outdoor hot tub,

The resort is amazing! Highly recommend. Restaurant is ok to good. The filet I just paid $34 for was almost all fat, grizzel, couldn't chew. Mash potatoes were dry. :(. That's usually my luck though. Waiter gave us a complimentary desert! Great wait staff. read more

We had a fantastic stay! Mary at the front desk was helpful when I called to book the room, and again when we arrived and I had questions. We had a harborview room with great views of the harbor. The food ... so good that I ate brussle sprouts for the first time, ever, and loved them! I never thought I would say, "Uffda, I'm stuffed, I ate too many brussle sprouts!" Seriously, that good. Our server was great; friendly, funny, and explained how to make those delicious brussle sprouts at home! We used the shuttle to get to and from the arena for the Bulldog game and our driver was great; funny and personable. I was disappointed that I did not bring my swimsuit (we stayed for less than 24 hours) to try the outdoor hot tub, it is enclosed in glass so no wind, and my boys said it was actually warm inside (we visited in January!). We also did not get to try the outdoor amenities, but we plan to go back to watch the tall ships come in and will try out those amenities. One note, bring a lint brush. The hotel allows dogs and when my son sat down in a chair in our room, he had dog hair on his sweatshirt when he stood up. Not a big deal - but what was more inpressive, we would never had known there was a dog in that room because there was NO SMELL - NONE! Also, forgot to add, the beds were cofortable, as were the pillows, and the bathroom was clean! read more

The calamari was amazing! As were the dressings and sauces that tasted house made. Our lunch selections however, not so much .... The walleye tasted fresh and came with 3 decent sized pieces but bland, bland and more bland. We also ordered the lobster roll that was not only more of the same bland but also rubbery. Fries came with both and were dark brown and all dried out. They too were sticking with the we forget to buy spices theme and came with no seasoning. The server said she'd "let the chef know" I wish we knew we had to tell him that before we ordered. read more

The hotel is nice, great views, rooms are comfy. but! experienced something soooo disturbing. We are in town for business. As we were getting back in we witnessed 2 kitchen employees getting high in their truck and came out of the truck tweaking sooooo bad! one ran straight Into the kitchen and the one that was super twitching ran to another car to make a sale and went back into the kitchen to work. idc what you put in your body but I don't want to see it. we complained to a manger and he knew exactly who we were talking about. But really all we were told was that " I better not catch them red handed". like really???? if your not going to do anything about it but at least make me feel like you are concerned. that ruined this stay for me, we wont even go downstairs to eat at the restaurant anymore. thank god its the last night. read more

Well first big miss is a 4PM check in. I personally have never seen that from a hotel and definitely not from one where check out is 11. Even if there is a later check in, I've never had trouble getting an earlier check in. We even requested a check in at 2PM in advance and showed up at 3 and they told us to come back at 4. Here's a tip, hire another cleaning lady if you're going to charge $215+ a night and not let people check in until 4. To continue the nightmare, we went to check in shortly after 4. Shocker, still wasn't ready. I'm sorry, but no matter how nice the hotel is, I can never stay at this place again and will never recommend this place to anyone we know. Stay away. UPDATE: I bumped the rating from one to two stars. The hotel is nice, and it's a great location, with nice staff. The rooms are very minimalistic, modern/lofty feeling. I asked for a credit as a result of not having the room ready in time. They ended up giving just $25 back, but I appreciated the gesture. I still say stay away, unless it's one of your only options or are fine paying a healthy chunk of money. UPDATE AGAIN: Brought this back to 1 star. After reviewing my credit card charges I realized that I was never really given a $25 credit. They actually overcharged me by $25 and then issued the credit based on that overcharge, so in the end, I just ended up paying what I was supposed to pay from the very beginning. In other words, no $25 credit was ever really given for the issue with check in. I called the hotel back regarding this issue and after 15 minutes they agreed to look into the issue further. read more

We had not been to Duluth prior to this trip but wanted to go do some hiking on the Superior Hiking Trail and see the sites. Pier B website looked good and they were running some great rate specials so we took a chance. We were there four nights and our stay was great. Large, modern, clean room with a great view of the harbor. All the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful. Proximity to Canal Park area was perfect; close enough to stroll down to Canal Park, but just far enough away that people weren't everywhere. Each evening we used the large hot tub and wrapped up our evenings at one of the fire pits out by the water. Fun to watch the ships come and go. Top features: location, outdoor fire pit area, cleanliness of the entire facility. We plan to go back to Duluth in 2018 and would certainly stay here again! read more

My wedding night was ruined. I booked a King Mini Suite with a harbor view back in February and paid upfront. When I checked in after being dropped off by our limo after our reception, I got to my room I realized it wasn't what I booked and paid for. My fiancé and I had been looking forward to our harbor view and jacuzzi for months. I called the front desk and was left on hold for 20 minutes while someone tried to figure out what happened. After going down to the front desk I was told our room was downgraded due to "overbooking." Nobody even attempted to contact us and notify us, nor did they mention anything about it at the time of check in. They offered us a voucher for a free stay and we did get a refund which was greatly appreciated, but after this I'm hesitant to ever attempt to stay at this hotel again. We truly could not be more disappointed. When people ask how my wedding night was I'm so saddened that this happened and that a night I will never get back was ruined. I want to make others aware of what happened and I hope nobody ever has to feel the disappointment and frustration we felt on what should have been one of the happiest nights of our lives. read more

Went for the first time with a group for New years dinner. When we arrived we did not have a table that would set the group so we had to sit around at a small table till they could add another table. The waiter was very atentiv to hour needs,it was very busy do to the holiday. As for my dinner the chicken was burnt and the rasotto was cold. I finally got the attention of someone and he took my dinner back to replace it, he asked if I wanted something different I said no. Well my friends enjoyed there dinner while I watched them eat, mine finnnaly came as everyone else was done. The food was ok but over priced. They did not charge me for my dinner but that did not end by year well. I doubt if I will return. read more

My husband and I loved everything about this wonderful hotel. The room had a fabulous design, it was super clean, the beds were very comfortable. There is a lot of outdoor seating, with fireplaces, to enjoy the view of the harbor and arriving ships. The restaurant is conveniently located immediately across from elevators. It had a giant walk-in shower, a very large television that actually worked perfectly. The staff were all extremely friendly and accommodating. We visit Duluth fairly often, and will always make this our go-to hotel in the future. read more

We heard about Pier B on WCCO Radio and we made a reservation for that week. I'm really impressed with this hotel. First, it doesn't have a traditional hotel "vibe" because of the rustic elegant decor. The room was beautiful and truly had the best hotel beds I've ever tried. The linens and the pillows were top notch too. Our room faced the water and we had a lovely view. The cool decor extended into the rooms too. Think modern, funky light fixtures, painted concrete ceilings and even the mini fridge was a glass front one....none of the generic white hotel mini fridges here! We had dinner in the restaurant and while it is more pricey than a typical Duluth hotel, the food was great. I had the Walleye Fish & Chips....yum! The staff was wonderful. I made note of two front desk employees (Daniel & Alina) who were really friendly and knowledgeable about the area and the hotel. It was pretty chilly the night we were there, so we didn't take advantage of the outdoor amenities, but they have a firepit and a hot tub facing the water, which were just beautiful. The hotel also offers complimentary "Smores Kits" if you want to go outside and make smores by the fire. Nice touch! We will definitely be back on our next trip to Duluth. read more

This place was great! The staff was friendly and attentive. The bed was AMAZING! The place was so clean and well kept. We visited the restaurant for an app and a beer our first night, and our server was charming and on point. The hot tub was definitely a selling point. We will be back for sure! read more

This hotel completely failed across the board in every way possible. My husband and I booked this hotel in February 2019 to celebrate our wedding anniversary and attend a festival. We were really looking forward to our stay at Pier B. About a week prior to arrival, we called the property to advise them that our card was stolen and Asked if we needed to update with a new card prior to our stay. I was told that once we brought the valid card with us and was there before MIDNIGHT( as that was when cards were ran) that we would be ok and not need to update anything. I confirmed our confirmation and all seemed to be well. Friday night at 8pm,we arrived at the property after driving 3 hours from the city.We were told that our reservation had in fact been cancelled a little less than an hour before due to a declined card. Of course it declined since it was stolen and a new card was reissued. We specifically called to make sure this would not be the case. NO CALL WAS MADE. NO EMAIL WAS SENT (Well, until 1AM which was 6 hours after the cancellation). The front desk staff was literally smirking as they told us there was nothing they could do as the hotel was sold out. There was no remorse or empathy for our situation. I have never in my life witnessed such horrible customer service and we are avid travelers. I then asked for the manager and a girl named Jessica came out who was even less helpful. She offered no help except for telling us we could go somewhere else, as if there was another option at this point. I was then given a card for the General Manager, Jon, who I then contacted. I called the cell phone number that was given to me and I was told that this was a personal cell that he sometimes handles business on but he was " 100 miles away and could not create rooms so he does not know what he can do" and to contact him on Monday, mind you, it was Friday at this point. I would have liked for him to at least contact the front desk or make arrangements that would have been sufficient at that time and not 3 days later. I was also asked by Jon, to email and not call. How impersonal is that for a manager to say, after his establishment has failed on every touch point of our stay. This hotel is not committed to a high level of experience for their guest, and with the price tag we planned of paying for over $300/ night, the absence of care and service is horrific. Next time, we will stick with a Hilton or Radisson who actually take time with their guest and value their business. read more

We enjoyed our two night stay in March. Rooms were nicely appointed and the staff were top notch! My only criticism is the modern showers do not have a curtain or fully closing door. Check your bedding upon arrival! My wife and I stayed on a weekday evening to bypass the hefty weekend rate. Check-in took a while as there was quite a line since it was right at 4:00 when their check-in begins. The king mini suite was nice, faced the harbor and Bentleyville, was decorated nicely and bed was better than the typical hotel-hard although I did find crumbs in it. We ate dinner at the restaurant which was good, not a lot of options to the menu but the food and waitress was fine. The problem is upon my return home a few days later to find a $30 charge on my card. I called and was told that there was a pillow missing from my room. I explained there were 5 when I had arrived and still 5 when I left. Was put on hold and said she was speaking to housekeeping, came back and told me she would refund my $30. I don't plan to return to this hotel, I have not been accused of stealing items from a hotel before, and the pure fact of feeling like I need to take pictures and need a checklist upon check in, to be sure all items are present before I enter the room otherwise I will get charged, is a ridiculous feeling. This was supposed to be a nice anniversary trip for my wife and I which was now soured by this experience. read more

Great staff and amenities. Can't beat the location and view. Have stayed here 2 times, so now it is my Duluth home away from home.

Great customer service, rooms and pool! I was very impressed with this property but was very surprised on the quality of the room amenities as didn't match the price point of what I paid for the room. I feel if you are charging for a 4-5 Star property maybe pay attention to the little detail just a suggestion. read more

Beautiful resort and fantastic design details. Location could not be better. There are windows everywhere and a dozen fun places to sit. My only complaints are the quality control on housekeeping. Our room had very obvious Champagne spray all over the wall by the desk. Ick. Not ours. The multiple body wash but no shampoo kind of irritating. The one coffee but multiple decaf also says quality not focused. After checkout I realized a $30 speed charger was left in room. I went up and asked housekeeping. Room was open and cleaned. She said she didn't check it yet so go to front desk which I did. No charger. I should have just gone in and taken it I realize later. So I'm out the charger. Rates kinda high but the place is definitely fine. For a relatively new hotel there is grime buildup in rooms already starting. read more

We stayed there last weekend and housekeeping was not good. Dirty towel hanging behind the bathroom door when we arrived. Used Keurig pod left in the coffee maker. Made us wonder if they had even changed the sheets. The second day they didn't replenish the towels. Always have liked this place, but this weekend the service was poor. There was dirt in my water, the appetizer was served with no plates, the server was crabby and was yelling at us for putting tables together. Although, we didn't put tables together we were seated there. We had a larger party. We came here often with our boat and always have a good time. This time wasn't great and it was due to a sour employee, which creates a frustrating night. Especially when you are entertaining others and have told them how great this place is. The view was still amaiging. read more

Disappointing. My adult kids took me there for my birthday dinner, there were eight of us in our party. My son and I each ordered the $35 14oz bone in New York strip. We were expecting a thick juicy steak with minimal gristle. What we received were flat, skinny 1/2 inch think steaks that had lots of gristle. The steak was what you might expect from Perkins. I did receive a free cheesecake dessert for my birthday, which was very good, but I doubt that it was made on site. They charge high end restaurant prices, but the atmosphere and food are just average. Consider going someplace else. read more

I have no idea how this place has this high of a rating here and on Trip Advisor, but let me start by saying my review is based on staying here with three kids, all 6 and under. We booked a room last minute, which was probably our first mistake, but this hotel offered nothing to us outside of its modern looking but impractically decorated rooms. The rooms look industrial chic, but the cement floors and cheap sliding door that serves as both the closet door and the bathroom door depending on which direction you slide make the room uncomfortable. The salt water pool was small, crowded, and gets deep quickly for smaller kids. There are zero extras at this place - no free breakfast, an almost non-existent staff. When we went out for the day, we returned to find that not only had the cleaning crew not made any beds, but they threw the pack and play in our room on top of the unmade bed and had scattered a trail of garbage when they emptied our can. Gross. Also, it briefly rained, and the noise on the window was obnoxious. They love to tell you about the great free s'mores, but considering what we are charged a night at this place, the price of those s'mores as the one "service" (and by service, I mean they hand you a Ziplock bag with the S'more makings) we were offered is SO not worth it. If you have kids, I urge you to find another hotel and spare yourself the expense we incurred for a sub-par stay. There are MUCH better places in Duluth, particularly for families. read more

Server acted like she didn't want us there, we had to refill our waters ourselves after being ignored for 45 minutes. 2 meals, one lunch and one dinner and 3 friends reporting same meal experience. Know the owners and hope they read this. Food at best is fair, and if you factor in the price charged it's poor.
