This is just a great place to spend some Time. Dog friendly. I have my Hank with me and I am relaxing in front of the lake. Service is good. The staff are accommodating. The units are spacious and comfortable. We have a lakeside home. Full kitchen. Comfortable bedrooms. Nice outdoor space and beautiful access to lake. It's an amazing place.

I did not stay, but visited the restaurant which was awesome!!!! They had a nice selection of local beer, nice variety of food, and gorgeous deck!!! It was a relaxing, unhurried meal with a fantastic server who was just starting her career at the lodge. I ate a smash burger which was delicious!!!

If I could give 10 stars, I would!! What a wonderful place to stay, eat, drink and be merry with friends, family or even on your own! We visited with 3 other couples, the staff was amazing, friendly and helpful, very down to earth people. But honestly ever person we encountered from Minnesota was amazingly friendly and welcoming (even the drivers are courteous ). My wish would be that these people never change, so refreshing. If you have attitude, pls stay home . Ok, rooms were clean and well cared for. Views from the property are breathtaking. Restaurant service staff, food (taste, quantity and presentation), price all good A plus (w/8 people it's expected someone might have a slight problem... NOT so) 100% in agreement that everything was wonderful (we had brkfst, lunch and dinners here). Sometimes a little slow but nothing to complain about. Enjoy the view, it's worth it. All 4 room accommodations were great too. No complaints. Only 1 recommendation, do something to allow for some shade on the back patio. We hope to return. Highly recommend for cocktails, meal and stay!! Thankyou to the staff! Bravo!

Perfect little getaway spot up by the north shore! I thought our room was going to be more of a cabin, but it was a glorified hotel room on an upstairs level of a lake house/condo. It was a pet friendly room which I wanted, so I was happy enough. It had some old pet stains in the dark green carpet though. I think it would look a lot nicer if they tore it out, and put all hardwood flooring in or something. I had a few questions, but every time I would go to the front desk there wasn't anyone around to really talk to, and on the last day before we left I found the guide in our room kinda hidden. That would have really helped if it was in sight the day we arrived. I will say there was a lady working on the first day who helped us so much over the phone when we had ended up with a flat tire, and gave me some local phone numbers etc. The restaurant on-site is so good, especially the different sandwiches on the dinner menu. The pool and hot tub area is a nice option for a cold evening to relax. They offered some nice amenities, and this location was pretty central if you are wanting to check out some of the amazing state parks in the area. This resort also is right on the Lake Superior shore, so right outside of our room was beautiful when we would walk out!

This building is also connected internally by a second-story walkway. The staff was friendly as usual, and the always stocked popcorn, ice-cold tea and lemonade in the lobby, is always a treat. Unlike other of your experienced, when evening rolled around, there were fires lit at all three locations, including the one all the way down on the beach. I will say with this being the first time stay in the annex for me. That building in particular seems a little bit more outdated than others. Including some disrepair like a cracked window that was scotch taped back together. Between the really low counter and shower head there was some mild annoyance as well. The interior pool area is also in need of some maintenance. But the outdoor pool deck still feels amazing! Another slight draw back from this stay was the key card annoyance. Even though there is a promising NFC looking logo on the cards, these are still the old magstrip style that most hotels have moved away from. If you have a MagSafe equipped iPhone 12 from 2020 or newer and you place your keycard in the same pocket by mistake it will nuke your keycard on a heartbeat and you'll have to take a trip to the front desk to regain access to your room. Overall I've made some great memories here over the years and will continually plan to return.

This Inn sparkles with cleanliness! I notice details like baseboards, corners and shelves. Each railcar is decorated in a different theme. We stayed in the newly appointed Lighthouse Room. The lamps were shaped like lighthouses, the room was tastefully decorated with Lighthouse pictures and memorabilia, and the hallway that connects each railcar was built reminiscent of a rail yard and train station. When I called to make the reservation. I actually spoke with one of the owners. Cindy. She was personable and friendly. She is the epitome of a fantastic bed& breakfast-type Innkeeper. We met her at the Inn and she was funny and very welcoming. The food was good. They had your typical fare offered at most hotels. The only reason they didn't get a 5 star rating from me is I feel like they could develop a "trademark item" with their breakfast to go with the theme as well. The location is perfect for a quiet weekend or even a Northshore vacation. It's nestled in the wilderness and just a very short ride to Lake Superior. I highly recommend this Inn if you would like to relive some locomotive history!

I returned from hiking up the North Shore my first (and only) night, ready to fall asleep and get up early the next morning for sunrise pics at Split Rock. The walls are thin, the floors creak, and doors slam shut. So from 8-around 1030, it was so noisy, then after that, I could hear conversations from the adjoining rooms. They weren't being "loud" the walls were just that thin. The bed was not very comfy. The sheets were scratchy. There was a single washcloth tucked up into the shower curtain ... clean? Not clean? I dunno. It stayed there. The access to parking coming from the North is a nightmare as the turning lane is also used by those accessing the left turn light and the lot is full of deep potholes that are hard to avoid. The driveway is also shared by McDonalds so it makes for a busy place. Customer service was good. Staff were friendly and courteous. Overall, just not worth the cost. Other places further up the North Shore were comparable in price, had more amenities, and were closer to many of the destinations.

The jacuzzi tub was so nice after my morning workouts. The only small complaints I'd have is how hot the upstairs got especially the loft. It may have been the all natural detergent they had. But over all loved it!!!! I also loved that we weren't bothered which is something that usually bugs me. This unit has real promise if they would spend a few bucks as they expect us to. Great location, access to the lake is easy, all in all not sure I'll be back at prime time, but you check it out for yourself, I'd recommend it at a lower price since up to 8 people can stay. The other plus is it is dog friendly. One caveat, bring a credit card, it's the only form of payment accepted. You might be up a creek without it. Or pack a tent. The staff is very friendly and overall the unit is clean. I would give 3 1/2 stars actually but for above mentioned items could be a 5!
