We sat in the back room which only held our party. After moving some lightbulbs around so we could see better, we settled in to order. They have a nice selection of beers on tap. I ordered the grilled chicken sandwich with a side of coleslaw which was good. We shared cheese curds which were excellent and I copped a few fries from other's plates and those were yummy too. It's important to know a lot of the options with high rankings may not reflect the kind of lodging you desire so do your homework. We wanted cabin style lakeside housing that was simple yet provided options.... Appeldoorn's delivered. We rented cabin 1 which is 300 feet from the water. They have a sandy beach with two docks and water toys for kids including kayaks, paddle boats, a blob and in water slide. Throw in a sandy beach that is sifted daily you have a great place to enjoy this massive lakes beauty. The front desk is extremely helpful and they have a lot of convenience store items available for reasonable price. They also arrange fishing chartered and have rental equipment weather permitting. We also dined at the resort for breakfast and dinner and were impressed with the quality and originality of the food. The dining options are closed Monday and Tuesday so you will need to explore the local area. They have four varieties of housing and they all seem pretty awesome, we are definitely planning to return!

OK WHAT AN UPGRADE!!!!…read more I was here a few years ago for a wedding, and was not impressed to say the least. But, things have changed for the better in a BIG way!! Very different. The current event coordinator, Mariah, knocks everything she does of of the ball park. I was here for another wedding, and I was in for a huge surprise. There were many improvements, too many to list! The new wedding area is perfectly located. A permanent Arbor is there for the couple to decorate as they wish, or not. The lakeside now has 2 docks, many aquatic amenities, and a great sandy beach. Even a lakeside bar! I could go on and on, but you need to see this place on Mille Lacs to really appreciate it. However here is my thoughts on some menu items there: CHEESEBURGER SLIDERS toasted bun, gooey cheese, fresh burger SHRIMP COCKTAIL: large fresh shrimp, not from a shrimp farm in Yuma AZ PECAN ENCRUSTED WALLEYE FINGERS: none better (it should be a law that every restaurant on Mille Lacs offers something like this) but try it here NEW LOOK NEW FOOD NEW VIBE

W E D D I N G V E N U E…read more Under the new management, I attended a small intimate wedding ceremony on the shores of Mille Lacs. There was a nicely manicured area and a perfect aisle with chairs on both sides. This was a very picturesque site, and just perfect for the 20+ guests. If you plan on having your intimate wedding here, forgo the canned music and have a real musician play guitar, violin, or any stringed instrument. We took our first large family vacation here this year and loved it! The cabins were big enough for…read moreour large family, the staff was helpful, the view was beautiful, the accommodations in the cabins were just like home and the resort is right inside of the town of Isle, MN so you're only about a block away from groceries or restaurants. It was a perfect location for our first family trip. The resort has boat rentals, so there is no need to bring your own boat if you don't want to. The resort sits on a bay on the south side of Lake Mille Lacs, so you've got some shelter from the rough water on the main part of the lake on a windy day, and the resort has a protected harbor with multiple boat slips in case you do want to bring your own boat. The only problem that the resort has is that it doesn't have a beach area attached to the resort. This is the only reason why I'm not giving it the full 5 starts. However there is a public beech just down the street that is easily accessible, and they do allow for swimming off of the docks, but the water there is a little deep for smaller kids, and with boats coming in and out of the harbor, it's not great for family swimming, although it's just fine for adults who'd like to just jump in and swim for a bit. The rental pontoons don't have ladders, you you can't jump out of them for swimming (which is another reason I'm not going with 5 stars) but we did find a nice little public boat launch with a sandy beach about one bay over from the resort. So, if you want to take the family or the boat and find a nice beech where you can anchor the boat and go for a swim, this spot is perfect! All in all, we were very happy with the resort, and we will be back the next time our family vacation takes us back to Mille Lacs.

There are several hidden fees and they are just dis honest people. Also they like to call the cops on you if you do something wrong...... all in all this place should be condemned

I brought a group of 20 up for a fishing charter. We called toucans to let them know they had a…read moregroup coming. It took them over 60 minutes to deliver a grilled chicken wrap and a BLT, totally unacceptable. Some of my group ordered with at least 90 minutes before the charter was supposed to leave and they didn't even get their food, totally unacceptable. Some of my party got their food but didn't get what they ordered. Neither myself, nor any of my party will be back.

And watch out for the cleats on the dock as they can be hard to see, and not friendly for bare feet.
