The front office staff always has a smile, the rooms were clean, the coffee always hot, and the beds were comfortable. Our entire family of 11 stayed the week of July 4th and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. the house was clean, the kitchen was great and comfortable for all to sit around the table. good seating for all in the living room and the beds were comfortable. they went over and above in assisting us when our 4 wheeler got a flat tire. they provided plenty of ice, and the kids loved the playground and bouncy houses- we would stay again in a heartbeat! thank you! read more

This place was the worst choice to store and ice fish out of!! I had a issue about how staff treated me and tried to talk with owners, I was told to get my ice castle off her property, but not in those nice words. Paid in full for 2 ice passes for season and storage for a year. Got very small refund,that she said was fair. I have fished Mille Lacs for 40 plus years and have never been treated with so little respect from a resort. I wouldn't recommend doing any business with these people. read more

BEWARE of the NEW OWNERSHIP, NOT THE SAME MCQUOIDS! We've been going to McQuoids for many years and were not aware that there was a change in ownership. It's not good. We got there after driving all day and dropped our bags and headed to the park. Didn't get back until about 9 at night. There was a trail of dirt and urine stains up the hallway, the top of the refrigerator was filthy, the blinds were broken with pieces hanging down like a crack house. There was food and filth in the couch. It smelled like bug spray and there were roach traps on the floor. The windows were smeared with grime and wouldn't open. The door was hanging off the hinges--once you got it pulled shut it had to be sort of kicked open. The microwave didn't work--at all. There weren't supplies that are there normally. We went to the front desk and the girl at the front talked about moving units at this hour and said she'd get back to us. She did not. We put a blanket over the bed to sleep because we were so grossed out by then. I handed the keys to the same girl in the morning and she charged us for the second night anyway. The new owner mostly argued with me and said she would only refund the second night because they RENTED IT SOMEONE ELSE!! read more

We had the best family vacation at McQuoid's last week!! Our family gathered from South Dakota, Chicago, Minneapolis, San Antonio, and Omaha. We had an executive condo with five bedrooms and three bathrooms, so each family had their own space. There was a large kitchen, and we cooked all our meals there. There was ample room for everyone to be comfortable. The grandkids enjoyed the playground and the animals. The young adults were able to kayak launching from the boat ramp. Everyone enjoyed sitting outside at the fire pit. It was just perfect. The building was very clean and in good shape. We also did guided fishing 2 days, and we enjoyed that. We made wonderful memories - thank you!! read more

We landed here after izatys were a bunch of stuck up snobs felt so out of place at izatys. We landed here after talking to sam,shes the best. On arrival met the owners directly. Amazing place. We visited McQuod's recently to take one of their morning fishing excursions. We were with my family, who all live out East, so it was a really big and exciting adventure for them since they are not used to freshwater fishing and don't see many lakes the likes of Mille Lacs where they live. Overall, we had a lovely time. The staff was super friendly. Captain Bill was fun, and Willy the bait boy was absolutely hysterical. That kid is not only quick to help you with your rig when you get it all twisted up or lose your bait, but he also is quick with a one-liner and had a super sharp sense of humor. Honestly, Willy was one of the highlights of the trip - especially since we didn't catch anything. :-( That said, my dad said our fishing trip was the highlight of his visit. The boat trip out onto the lake was enough to make us a pretty happy group all by itself, regardless of the lack of fish. I guess it just means we'll have to come back next time they're in town. Overall, the boats were clean and well-maintained (pro tip, take a spot in the middle of the boat where there's some shade if it's a sunny day). The gear was in good shape and ready to go. Captain Bill and Willy were really invested in trying to put us on some fish, and we could tell they were disappointed we didn't catch anything too. Overall, we had a great time. I can't comment much about the lodging accommodations since we didn't actually stay there. But from what I saw, it looked like a well-maintained but older property. Probably would be a fine place to stay if you didn't feel like making a long drive on top of the fishing. read more

We had a great stay at McQuoids Inn! The staff are all very friendly and the family that owns/runs the inn are down to earth and hospitable. It was nice to be at a family owned business where they sincerely want you to enjoy your stay and care about they clients. We spent a day ice fishing and we caught so many walleye we lost count a couple hours into the trip. We rode out on McQuoid's snowmobiles and we had already caught over 30 walleye just in the first couple hours. Tim was great and so helpful with our three kids. It was a full day on the lake and we can't wait to go back. read more

Funny, someone else from St. Paul was here just 3 days earlier. I imagine a cabin might be more fun. I wish he were more descriptive. We didn't have a reservation, yet got a handicapped room. It's a very spacious room. Lots of good cable selections. Desk service was super friendly. Room had a king bed, yet no extra pillows. I called and one was delivered right away. There is a lot of room yet only one side had a night stand. I didn't bother to use the shower, but it's a good size and there is a handy bath chair if you choose to use it. The best feature was that it had the tallest toilet I've ever seen. Taller than mine at home is as impressive as it gets. I was in Isle as the president of the TC Sisters in Crime or SinC. The local library won A $1000 grant, and I was happy to deliver it. I would come back here anytime I'm out this way. read more

My dad got a Groupon deal for $20 per person fishing trip (basically buy one, get one free) on a McQuoid's Inn pontoon boat. Since we like fishing early in the morning, we decided to drive up the night before and stay overnight to give ourselves more time. McQuoid's Inn is a quaint motel with cabin and "condo" option (although I didn't see the condos). The cabins, from what I saw outside, look spacious and are also on Mille Lacs Lake. Our room in the motel was a clean double-twin suite with coffee maker, cable, free wifi, ample parking, and free breakfast (waffles, toast, cereal). The beds were comfortable, the bathroom appeared clean, the shower was a bit lackluster, but whatever. The staff were all very polite and friendly, offering us great suggestions on places to eat. The boat trip was tons of fun, even though we didn't catch anything. The boat staff baited us, set up everyone's poles at each stop, and tried their best to find the best fishing spots. This is definitely by no means a 4-star hotel, or even 3-star, but for a relaxing and comfortable getaway right on the lake, McQuoid's Inn is a great place to go. read more

Nice, comfortable rooms. Genuinely kind service. Desk attendants were knowledgeable of local sights and restaurants. Had a mixed stay of weekday and weekend. Very nice. No issues with loud guests. Simply lovely stay. Breakfast was exactly as expected for a "Complimentary Continental", cereal, toast, bagels, waffles and juice. Did not take a launch, but spoke to a couple of guides during breakfast and found them interesting, kind, informative and very knowledgeable of the area and not at a all condescending to beginners and newbies and their questions. Very disappointing stay. We checked in late after 10 hour being on the road and we were really looking forward to a good night sleep. Unfortunately we had really bad neighbors who sounded like were drunk and extremely loud, running and shouting on the hallway and slamming the doors. Oh, did I forget to mention that it all was happening at 3:30 am? Yes, 3:30 am-5:00 am. My husband opened the door znd looked what was happening and saw some big guys running around. So he went down to the main lobby to complain but unfortunately nobody was there (by that time it was 5:30 am). When we were checking out we were not even asked how our stay was so we just mentioned it. Well, the lady didn't even apologize for a terrible night but she did say she would give us 10% off the bill (which by the way we really didn't care about). She than said that she could not give us more since we didn't follow the policy! The policy is to call and wake up the owner. She said thats what we were supposed to do. And who know that? Oh, I guess you are supposed to look for instructions at 4 am. The room was also very dated, from the 80's. Old Zenith tv, green old carpets, old beds, old everything. Not a pleasant place at all. We would not care about the old dated feel if at least the staff was nice (a front desk woman with dark hair). Maybe their cabins are nicer. The bottom line is we will never ever stay at Mcquoid's again and would not recommend it go anybody. Old dated place and not nice staff. read more

Great place, really enjoyed out cabin!

The fishing trip was fun, everyone had a good time - Wyatt our caption was GREAT with our 3 kids & helped everyone out. I normally don't right reviews but I want others to know about this next part before they pay money to McQuoids for a fishing trip. My only BIG problem with the trip is that the owner has different rules on what fish you can keep from the DNR. This information is NOT disclosed in any of their literature nor are you informed of this when you pay, we only found out after we paid and were on the boat. My 9 year old daughter caught an 18" small mouth bass and we had to tell her we could not keep it....owners rules - can't keep any bass that you catch (DNR rules state you can keep up to 6)!!! Be warned if you choose them to charter your next fishing adventure. read more
