Never received the door entry code and despite several unanswered phone calls and voicemails to the owners could not get in upon our arrival. Tried to access via front door but unable to enter. Ended up going to the Best Western Isanti (highly recommend) nearby. Owner says an email with the door code was sent in advance, but we never received the email and there was no extra confirmation from the owners to make sure we would be able to get in after hours. A follow-up email, text, phone call, or voicemail with entry instructions would have been appreciated given they knew we'd be in late. Decided to come back for our second night, and arrived to a room FULL OF BUGS. Owner apologized and tried to clean them up but they were everywhere and on and near the bed, so we decided to leave immediately. For pre-paying $275 for both nights the owners refunded only $200. Ridiculous given we could not enter the first night and had to pay for a hotel room and the room was infested with bugs.

In the morning, we woke up and Sandy prepared our breakfast. We took a short walk around the lake and then to the church and back. Sandy was ready and served us a 3-4 meal breakfast. It started with a vanilla Greek yogurt parfait with cantaloupe, strawberries, and banana. Next, we had sausage with Havarti eggs and dill which was fantastic with some English muffins and homemade jam. Last, we had a bread pudding with whipped cream and chocolate chips. We finally got some great recommendations for hiking and checked out with Sandy. We enjoyed the wine so much that we visited WineHaven to pick up another bottle of the Stinger honey wine. They were able to recommend nearby restaurants and were always very accommodating. The only thing we thought odd is that we stayed there over 2 years ago and never received any sort of follow up or further communication/invitation back! Perhaps this is their business model - not to overrun customers with marketing emails and promotions, however it was odd never to hear anything from them again.

One last thing. I love to come into my room after it has been cleaned and the bed is made exactly as it was when we arrived. They did not do that. The sheet was tucked in, but none of the decorative pillows or coverlet had been put back on. Because the cleaning basket had been left in our room, maybe someone left before finishing? We'll never know. The housekeeping glitches and menu problems could be a fluke, hence the 3 stars instead of 2. We have experienced much better. p.s. I mentioned in the on-line registration form that it was our anniversary and they never mentioned it during our stay or did anything special. I read about all the extra nice things they did for couples in our room memory book. Another fluke or glitch?

Unfortunately, the hot tub was not filled on our stay. They have a lot of table and chairs to sit around the pool area. This location is across the street from Hinckley casino if you like to gamble it's a short walk. The casino also has 21 and older swimming at night! The hotel room is average. I did sleep well. I like how they have a mini fridge & microwave in the room. There is no breakfast. They do have a coffee pot in the room. Their showers work well. We pre-booked on Expedia for about $85 and when I asked the hotel guy how much the average room is he said if we just walked in off the street it could be as much as $400 if there's an event going on!
