This is our first visit to Mille Lacs and after glancing through options the ratings on Yelp helped…read moreour decision. It's important to know a lot of the options with high rankings may not reflect the kind of lodging you desire so do your homework. We wanted cabin style lakeside housing that was simple yet provided options.... Appeldoorn's delivered. We rented cabin 1 which is 300 feet from the water. They have a sandy beach with two docks and water toys for kids including kayaks, paddle boats, a blob and in water slide. Throw in a sandy beach that is sifted daily you have a great place to enjoy this massive lakes beauty. The front desk is extremely helpful and they have a lot of convenience store items available for reasonable price. They also arrange fishing chartered and have rental equipment weather permitting. We also dined at the resort for breakfast and dinner and were impressed with the quality and originality of the food. The dining options are closed Monday and Tuesday so you will need to explore the local area. They have four varieties of housing and they all seem pretty awesome, we are definitely planning to return!

OK WHAT AN UPGRADE!!!!…read more I was here a few years ago for a wedding, and was not impressed to say the least. But, things have changed for the better in a BIG way!! Very different. The current event coordinator, Mariah, knocks everything she does of of the ball park. I was here for another wedding, and I was in for a huge surprise. There were many improvements, too many to list! The new wedding area is perfectly located. A permanent Arbor is there for the couple to decorate as they wish, or not. The lakeside now has 2 docks, many aquatic amenities, and a great sandy beach. Even a lakeside bar! I could go on and on, but you need to see this place on Mille Lacs to really appreciate it. However here is my thoughts on some menu items there: CHEESEBURGER SLIDERS toasted bun, gooey cheese, fresh burger SHRIMP COCKTAIL: large fresh shrimp, not from a shrimp farm in Yuma AZ PECAN ENCRUSTED WALLEYE FINGERS: none better (it should be a law that every restaurant on Mille Lacs offers something like this) but try it here NEW LOOK NEW FOOD NEW VIBE

We took our first large family vacation here this year and loved it! The cabins were big enough for…read moreour large family, the staff was helpful, the view was beautiful, the accommodations in the cabins were just like home and the resort is right inside of the town of Isle, MN so you're only about a block away from groceries or restaurants. It was a perfect location for our first family trip. The resort has boat rentals, so there is no need to bring your own boat if you don't want to. The resort sits on a bay on the south side of Lake Mille Lacs, so you've got some shelter from the rough water on the main part of the lake on a windy day, and the resort has a protected harbor with multiple boat slips in case you do want to bring your own boat. The only problem that the resort has is that it doesn't have a beach area attached to the resort. This is the only reason why I'm not giving it the full 5 starts. However there is a public beech just down the street that is easily accessible, and they do allow for swimming off of the docks, but the water there is a little deep for smaller kids, and with boats coming in and out of the harbor, it's not great for family swimming, although it's just fine for adults who'd like to just jump in and swim for a bit. The rental pontoons don't have ladders, you you can't jump out of them for swimming (which is another reason I'm not going with 5 stars) but we did find a nice little public boat launch with a sandy beach about one bay over from the resort. So, if you want to take the family or the boat and find a nice beech where you can anchor the boat and go for a swim, this spot is perfect! All in all, we were very happy with the resort, and we will be back the next time our family vacation takes us back to Mille Lacs.

When I first arrived on Friday I was greeted by one of the owners Merle. I was told where my spot…read morewas and informed it was pretty wet from this past weeks rain which I was prepared for. They have lots of great activities including a rubber duck race where the donate 1/2 of the money raised to the local food shelf. Everything was going great until yesterday(Sunday) when I decided to walk around the campground to check out more of the area. I was on the road at the far end of the campground when a campers 4 dogs spotted me and started running and barking aggressively. I stopped to try and give the owners a chance to call them off as well as hopefully deescalate the situation. That is when the German Shepherd came around the back of me and bit my bum. I said ouch. The owner finally got the dogs attention and put him in their camper. I left and went back to my camp site. I saw the skin was broken and soon I had a large bruise. I called the office and asked if the campground owners could please stop by my site as I wanted them aware of what happened. 2 hours later still no contact from them. I then went up to the bar and restaurant and located Merle and Laura. I told the what transpired and only had one request which was to please find out if the dog is up to date on vaccines. They said they would. That was 6 pm last night. I left the campground at 10 am this morning and still have not been contacted. Dogs off leash when so many children are around is an issue. If the campers next to me had encountered this dog with their 1 and 3 year olds I do not think it would have been I so minor. Again loved the campground and activities but disappointed that this issue was not followed up on. Worst part is the dogs belong to a long time seasonal camper at the facility so I'm afraid it won't be addressed.
