Came up here for a guys weekend and rented a fish house for the weekend. All we caught was a bunch of 12 ouncers. Workers and owner here are a hoot and definitely try and make your trip the best it could be. Multiple times they stopped out at the house and had a cocktail with us....good hospitality. The luxury fish houses aren't very luxury, but what do you expect when fishing? Had breakfast at the restaurant, good greasy food. I probably didn't need those extra 2 eggs, but well worth it. Bloodies were good too. Great place if you are looking to rent a fish house with a large group.

Rented out the big cabin for my buddies batchelor party. Place was perfect! Has full working kitchen 2 bathrooms, plenty of beds for larger groups! Nice big attached garage and a fire pit. Had a great time! Linda was very accommodating! She was very nice and respectful! Did a very good job making sure our weekend went smoothly! Went on the boat launch which was awesome! They were doing an excellent job keeping us on the fish. Let us DJ and bring our own coolers for beer! Food at the bar wasn't half bad! Twin pines is the perfect spot for a great weekend! Lodging, bar, and boat launch all in the same place! Highly recommend taking a trip to twin pines! We will be coming back for my batchelor party for sure!

We were up at our friends cabin by Lake Mille Lacs. This is a cute family owned restaurant. There is a dining area on the left and a bar area on the right. Service here was great. The waitresses were in constant motion taking food and drink orders and bringing out food as soon as it was ready. They give you a coffee carafe for those who drink a lot of it (definitely this girl!). They were very friendly on both occasions and deserve thumbs up! Food one day was ok and the next was good! I tried two different omelets and would definitely recommend the philly steak and cheese. Yum. The hash browns were good but here's the thing... On my first visit they asked if I wanted cheese on the hash browns. Sure because in my mind, everything is better with cheese. Well, when you barely melt a piece of processed sliced cheese, it really wasn't better. Oh well. With their friendly and welcoming environment, I wouldn't mind stopping back. Strong 3.5 from me.

We spent 2 nights at Twin Pines and enjoyed all 4 meals there! The walleye, pulled pork, chicken, breakfasts - loved it all! Fast service, great food, cozy atmosphere. But how do you rate a place where you walk in strangers and feel like family by the time you walk out? 5 stars! We'll be back!

I went for lunch and ordered lemon pepper walleye. The salad bar was great, but didn't include soup which was part of the order deal. I wasn't asked if I wanted 1 or 2 pieces of fish, but was given 2 and charged for it. Half way through my first piece I realized I was eating bones... I pulled at least ten bones out of the rest of the fish. I did not eat the other piece and pointed out the bones I removed to my waitress who just said sorry about that. Brought my bill in to pay with the bartender, who turned out to also be the cook, and explained the 2 piece charge and bones. She apologized and charged me for the 1 piece of fish. On the plus side, it was cooked well at least.

Unfortunately, when we arrived, we were disappointed to find both pools closed--a fact that was never mentioned on the website or during booking. The website was also out of date, with no notice about the pool closures or the restaurant being closed. This lack of communication was a huge letdown for us and especially hard on our kids. After receiving a text that our room was ready, we checked in only to find the room still dirty. The staff did try to help by sending a manager intern, who found us another room, but that one was also dirty and needed cleaning. We ended up waiting an additional 30-45 minutes before we could finally get settled. Once we were finally in, we found the condo-style cabins to be cute and comfortable, with a nice deck and great views of the golf course and lake (though some big pine trees block part of the view). There's plenty of parking, and the property has several docks for fishing and a large marina, which was a big hit with our family. However, due to pool construction, the trail to the marina dock was blocked, forcing us to take a much longer and less convenient route. We had fun fishing and caught some big sunfish off the main marina dock. The restaurant had a nice deck and a DJ, but closes pretty early and the food is quite pricey. The community fire pits are a great touch, with plenty of wood provided for guests to enjoy a classic evening of s'mores. As a gesture of goodwill for the pool closure, the resort offered us a two-hour pontoon rental, which was appreciated but didn't fully make up for the disappointment and lack of communication. We tried to rent a fishing boat, but it had mechanical issues. The marina crew was super helpful and gave us a good deal on a full-day pontoon rental instead, which turned out to be the highlight of our trip. Big thanks to Rob and Casey at the marina--they were friendly, hardworking, and made our experience so much better. The kids had an absolute blast on the lake! We also enjoyed the ice cream shop and took out kayaks and other water toys, which were reasonably priced and lots of fun. At first, we weren't sure if we would return or recommend Ruttger's to others, but the marina crew truly turned things around for us and made the end of our trip memorable. I would recommend this resort to families and groups, but I really hope management improves communication, keeps the website updated, and ensures rooms are ready and clean for arriving guests. With a few improvements, this could be an amazing place for a family getaway.

They have lots of great activities including a rubber duck race where the donate 1/2 of the money raised to the local food shelf. Everything was going great until yesterday(Sunday) when I decided to walk around the campground to check out more of the area. I was on the road at the far end of the campground when a campers 4 dogs spotted me and started running and barking aggressively. I stopped to try and give the owners a chance to call them off as well as hopefully deescalate the situation. That is when the German Shepherd came around the back of me and bit my bum. I said ouch. The owner finally got the dogs attention and put him in their camper. I left and went back to my camp site. I saw the skin was broken and soon I had a large bruise. I called the office and asked if the campground owners could please stop by my site as I wanted them aware of what happened. 2 hours later still no contact from them. I then went up to the bar and restaurant and located Merle and Laura. I told the what transpired and only had one request which was to please find out if the dog is up to date on vaccines. They said they would. That was 6 pm last night. I left the campground at 10 am this morning and still have not been contacted. Dogs off leash when so many children are around is an issue. If the campers next to me had encountered this dog with their 1 and 3 year olds I do not think it would have been I so minor. Again loved the campground and activities but disappointed that this issue was not followed up on. Worst part is the dogs belong to a long time seasonal camper at the facility so I'm afraid it won't be addressed.
