We were on a mission to find this place after we had the most amazing cherry pistachio gelato at a restaurant in L.B.I.! We've never had gelato this creamy and filled with high quality chunks of cherries and pistachios. It was a bit of a drive but I know it's worth it. It is located in a small building behind a house. You have to go inside and knock on the door and someone will come to the door/window. They also offer ice cream pies, special cheesecakes, sorbet, spumoni, and tartufo. Hidden, little speakeasy dessert place and well worth the trip to stock up. We can't wait to try the other flavors we brought to try! read more

You walk down a small alley to get to the building. I walk in and it's a tiny vestibule with the menus on the wall. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by a nice gentleman. The desserts are amazing !! One tastier than the other. My husband favorite is the black cherry pistachio gelato!!! Yummm If you haven't been there you have to go!! You will not be disappointed read more

Best ice cream and novelties in this part. Its creamy, reminds me of gelato and the add-ins are incredible. The pretzels and cookies stay crunchy, etc. their dark chocolate bon bon is divine Some of the reviews make it sound intimidating to purchase. It's not. Find parking on the street, follow the path to the kitchen and ring the bell. This isn't an ice cream shop, they sell to individuals and businesses. You can get ice cream cakes, novelties and ice cream by the pint. I've enjoyed every flavor. Customer service is thoughtful. read more

A decade ago I had a co-worker that told me about this place. She said it was the best place for ice cream. I finally went out and found the place last year when the pandemic started and all the grocery stores were sold out of ice cream. First thing I took notice of when I got there is the people that work here are super friendly. (And were friendly still each time I came back) Not lying, it's the best ice cream I've ever had. I bought my mother's birthday ice cream pie (the one with the pecans) to her birthday dinner party. At first everyone laughed at me when I told them it's the best but they stopped laughing and agreed with me after they'd tried it. My mother had five birthday cakes that night and the pecan pie I brought was the only one finished at the end of the night. I keep coming back here, the ice creams, gelatos and tartufos are the best. read more

I have to say, its the best ice cream I ever had before. Everything is made with good ingredients. I suggest everyone to try Piece of cake ice cream before they go anywhere else to get there ice cream. read more

Uuuuuhhmmmm how can I ever get ice cream anywhere else after having their death by chocolate. Seriously could die happy after eating that! Right now it's like pints to go, ice cream pies, and other frozen treats. The service many local restaurants and I kinda want a list so I know where to order ice cream from when I'm dining out. This place is great, right off Inman ave in Rahway. I would 100000% recommend and will 1000000% be back to get some goods. Right after I finish the four pints from last time. Won't take me long ;) read more

We ordered the Oreo pie and it was absolutely amazing. I also tried some of the gelato and it's better than ice cream. So delicious

Want an adventure? Circle the Rahway Knights of Columbus hall, searching for something that appears to sell ice cream. Find a light green house with the Piece of Cake sign next to it, figure the house must be the place! Park, go up to the house and lift your hand to knock before realizing No, the location you're looking for is actually the commercial building behind the house, accessible through an alley. This is where it gets fun. When you go into the shop, you're faced with a wall containing a 2 way mirror. Next to the mirror is a door secured with a biometric fingerprint lock. You feel like you're in FBI custody, if the FBI had pictures of ice cream hanging on the walls. You stand there, staring at yourself in the mirror with your hat and your big winter coat and your face mask and you feel like a fugitive, or like you're lost. The door opens a crack and a man's voice tells you to wait. You nod obediently. What choice do you have? Finally from behind the secure door comes a man with a Lynyrd Skynyrd t shirt, a big silver crucifix on a chain, and, yes, a face mask. The owner, James! James was unexpectedly friendly. We drove 45 minutes from our home to get there and he knew the names of local independent ice cream shops in our town. We got the sampler pie and served it to guests the next day. You should have heard their gasps when we opened the box. The guests were adults but it took them so long to decide on their flavors, like children. It was cute. They ended up eating a lot of it and raving about it. But we still have plenty left to eat ourselves this week. :-) You will have a hard time buying another ice cream chain store cake after this. We will be back. read more

Delicious gelato and pastries. Super friendly people. Recommended the graham Slam Cracker and Cherry pistachio gelatos

Excellent ice cream pies that are great for dessert. They offer a good selection at reasonable prices.

Great selection and great service...I highly recommend the sampler, everyone loved it...will be buying again soon!

Hidden Gem in Rahway! Who would have thought that you can get the country's best ice cream cakes right here in Rahway, NJ? This unsuspecting ice cream shop (located behind a home on a relatively residential block in Rahway) makes their products on premises. They sell ice cream pies, ice cream truffles, tartufos, novelties, fruit sorbets, baked cakes, individual baked goods, tarts and gelato. Best bet is the ice cream sampler pie which provides an opportunity to try a selection of amazing offerings. Each one is better than the next. I brought this sampler to a Christmas dinner party and it was a huge success! I have also tried a variety pack of the tartufos. Again, each one was better than the next. Try the pistachio which received rave reviews from my Italian neighbors who are quite particular about their pistachio ice cream. I have not tried any of the non ice cream cakes, but have heard from other customers that they are top quality too. Will give one a try in the near future. The owner, Jim, is passionate about his business, makes certain you are completely satisfied with all of your purchases and offers lots of personal touches. If you are overwhelmed with all of your options, speak with Rose and she will point you in the right direction. Overall, great taste and worth every penny. Don't forget this hidden gem next time you need a treat for a special occasion. You won't be disappointed. FYI - Cash only! read more

Disclaimer! I don't eat many sweets myself, but everyone I know that has tried the products from this company has had nothing but rave reviews. I see their truck frequently on the Jersey Shore, so they seem to be moving product and if it wasn't good, the restaurants wouldn't be buying from them. read more

I have never been to this place, but my Aunt and Uncle have brought their sample ice cream pie to many of our family gatherings. Absolutely delicious!!! read more

After having a ridiculously delicious slice of limoncello marscapone cake at our favorite restaurant, we had to ask if it was made in-house or if it was brought in. We were directed to Piece of Cake in Rahway and we were so happy we were. We paid far less for their amazing limoncello cake than we have for lesser attempts at other shops. The very friendly woman who helped us even gave my son a couple of other desserts to try. I can't recommend them enough, and we will definitely be going back! As others have stated, this is not a bakery with display cases, so my best advice is to check their website and walk in with your order in mind. You will not regret it! read more

Best ice cream cake in the area! I got the cookie and cream cake for a birthday and it was such a hit. They also have a sampler cake that includes flavors from many cakes. Bring cash! read more

This place is absolutely phenomenal. A little hard to find and being a factory store is not quite what you would expect if you are looking for an ice cream parlor. Plan on eating in the car or taking it home if you can wait to taste it. the products are absolutely amazing. The creativity, the presentation, the flavor the textures are all absolutely top-notch. This is next level ice cream. You will not be disappointed. read more

I stopped in the store after reading an article in the local paper and checking out there website. It was the exotic gelato flavors that lured me in, however when I got into the store it was extremely confusing. It was more factory than a store front and I couldn't find anything on the price sheets for pints of gelato. I had wrongly envisioned a beautiful gelato spread and storefront. The gentlemen there was nice, but not good at educating his customers about how or what to order. I was with two other coworkers who where also so confused they didn't buy anything. I did purchase some ice cream pie that comes in two slice packs and it was phenomenal! If I based my entire review on taste alone I would have given five stars. Truly a delicious treat! In the end I did leave there sad that I didn't get any basil or lavender gelato and bit confused. Be sure to bring CASH, as they do not accept cc. read more

We just received this as a get well gift. The pieces of ice cream form a cake of many flavors. It presents beautifully and tastes amazing! It's easy to keep it frozen and pull out one piece at a time. This makes a great gift to yourself or others. read more

Wasn't sure what to expect, but the items I ordered were phenomenal. I got a pie with multiple varieties of ice cream and six tropical sorbet pieces. I have to say that this place is on the list now! read more

Phenomenal ice cream! Even better, they sell pint-sized! Highly recommend Mint Cookie Surprise, so delicious.

Okay, I have to admit that I haven't actually been to the store. However, I was lucky enough to be a judge at the Rahway Taste of Spring and Piece of Cake was serving samples of their gelato and sorbet. I am completely embarrassed to admit how much of it I ended up eating... I tried the Minty Lemon Sorbet, the Fig & Walnut gelato, and the Graham Slam Cracker gelato. They were all spectacular. So creamy and so good. I'm not usually a sorbet person but I ate all of the Minty Lemon Sorbet sample, it was just so refreshing and perfectly tart. I can't wait to stop by the actual store and see what else they have. read more

Delicious! The employees at the store were nice and helpful, I got a box with 2 slices of ice cream cake and it was both reasonably priced and very tasty! Will definitely visit again read more

Piece of Cake is the BOMB! If your going to a outing or and event and need to bring a desert, you can't go wrong with the Ice cream Truffles. The 1st time I walked in, I was offered a taste of just made Banana Gelato with caramel and walnuts. It was awesome! It helps to know what you want when you go in but the staff is very helpful and willing to educate you on how things are done there. It is the real deal if you want premium ice-cream. read more
