We waited about 15 minutes for a table. Not bad at all!! Our server was energetic and accommodating. She cheerfully answered all our questions and honored our request to get a margherita pizza as an appetizer. The aforementioned pizza arrived in no time. It was good. Not the best ever, but still quite solid. The star of the culinary show was the salmon entree. Both my wife and I got it and we both loved it. It was a big piece of wood fired salmon and came with a nice assortment of roasted veggies. I'm talking real veggies--zucchini, broccoli, fingerling potatoes, the works. Neither one of us are big drinkers, but there are LOTS of microbrews on tap if you're into that kind of thing. The dining room was lively without being too noisy. Both of us enjoyed hanging out there. It would be a great place to have a beer and watch baseball on TV. Will definitely return the next time I'm in town.

The duck fries just tasted like rosemary. Very strong rosemary. The 1/2 duck was good and it's a huge portion. The veggies it comes with are great. Nicely seasoned and cooked by the fire.

It was an honest mistake. But management humiliated me in front of everyone and was unwilling to take my personal check; and I was in tears worrying where my card went. Fortunately two gentlemen came forward seeing the terrible scene that management was making of it; and paid for me. I was so grateful to them. You'd think after years of being in business as a family restaurant, management would show a bit of grace. But grace (or lack of it) goes around full circle, just remember. They are cruel people underneath. I will never go back and I will tell everyone I know how they treated me. -ACK

It's down a DARK stairway w NO LIGHT!! The steps down were painted black and the walls were also dark! No lighting on the walls down!! We used our phone flash lights!! Maybe some yellow tape so it's possible to see the next step in front of you...??? I watched many folks stumble and trip their way down... an accident waiting to happen!! BUT... I am telling you , I got there and "alive".... OMG the food is amazing!! I so want to go again, but I am afraid!! It would only take a couple of wall lights, and maybe some yellow tape on the steps to make the descend into the restaurant easier. I'm hoping I can call... order food, and ask them to bring it up to the door. Otherwise... we older folks, are out of luck!!

The warm wood decor was very inviting and we were impressed with the calm projected from the open kitchens. For drinks, my friend got a chilled wine which she loved and I had a tasty Hen of the Wood cider. For food, every dish was a hit. Parker house rolls with radish butter, a local cheese with their homemade crackers and apple hazelnut sauce. The heirloom tomato and beet appetizer set on a sauce of tahini and chili oil was honestly my favorite taste of the evening - that sauce combo was so yummy. We shared the duck entree and very delicate broccolini side - divine. The lemon posset and corn ice cream for dessert. Anything you order will be fabulous. We had reserved our table far in advance, but the bar seemed to have decent turnover rates so I imagine one could have a good chance walking in for dinner there.

Couple of notes: 1)…read moreapparently, the menu changes frequently. For example only one or two things on the yelp menu were on the menu I received 2) New American is a very apt characterization of the menu with emphasis on new. As in new to the point of unusual/unfamiliar/avant guard. 3) I am not a huge fan of cruciferous vegetables and the offering was chock full of them, like Ham and Pork Belly with buttered Cauliflower 4) I could not find an entree that sounded terrific from the 4 offered that day. The hanger steak on the menu Yelp showed would have been great. 5) I had two of the starters - chicken liver pate with grilled bread and salami cotto. They were good. Pate is hard to make into a stand out. The Salami appeared to be made in house and was quite good but would have been better to share -- it's a lot of salami 5). The place was full and loud. Not sure why restaurants with hard surfaces and high ceilings think bass driven background music is the thing to do, but it appears to be. The noise volume detracted from the intimacy of a couples dinner. If you are really adventurous- this place is for you. If you favor the more familiar with a twist, you may be there the wrong night.

We were pleasantly surprised. The food here was excellent. We started with the fresh bread and maple butter - yum! I had the fish and chips, my spouse had a Greek-style pasta with salmon. My fish was perfectly seasoned and cooked with a crisp crust. The fries were obviously hand cut. My spouse's salmon was also perfectly cooked, and the pasta was tasty, although he questioned the addition of a copious amount of feta. As for beverages, I had iced tea that tasted freshly brewed. Spouse opted for beer. He felt that the beer list, although good, was nothing special. It was mostly IPAs. I wonder if this will change during the high season. The staff was very friendly and helpful. As for ambiance, it was rustic in a clean, friendly, and cheerful way.
