A Splash Adelaide project, Picnic Lane is Lindes Lane (next to Rundle Place) transformed into an urban picnic area.
Upon arriving you are given a choice of two picnic boxes ($10 each) filled with foods from the Adelaide Central Market: a meat option (blue box), and a vegetarian option (red box); as well as a choice of two drinks (lemonade or raspberry).
I went with the blue box. The amount of food was satisfactory (more than I'd normally eat for lunch), and the selection was fantastic. The red box looked equally delicious.
There are tables and crates topped with astro turf to eat your picnic box, as well as a communal table adorned with a herb garden.
The event runs until June 2, however the Picnic Box sessions are only on May 21 and May 29 from 12-2:30pm or until the picnic boxes run out. Veggie Velo will be there on select (other?) days.
There is no obligation to buy the picnic boxes either. You can also bring your own lunch and hang out here. read more
