29/12/2011 I have to chuckle a bit. Five Star Yiros + Spud…read moreis the most exaggerated name of all business names - I mean, what makes a Yiros "Five stars", really? What a joke. I must say though, your Yiros is really delicious and packed with all the garlic sauce and chicken and vegies that anyone could ever need, yet you claim you're five stars...Good, but not worthy of 5 stars, sorry. From a small age my parents wanted me to be the most perfect son. To always improve yourself. So much so, even to the extreme point of being the best. I have been called crazy by my brothers and best friends for my behaviour, high standards, and perfectionist thinking, but in my book - you gotta really impress me if you want every single one of my five stars. One big reason I rated you less: The person who served me gave me the biggest "dagger" (here in Adelaide slang, this means giving someone an angry facial expression) SO clearly obvious that I felt like she didn't want me ordering her food. I just wanted to say, hey, your yummy Yiros alone is making me finish my order, and I'm giving you my money, so you can at least give me your tiniest smile when serving me food. Don't get me wrong - You could've earned 4-stars from me, but no way you're going to get 5-stars from me. If you compare your service to some of the other reviews I've done where I gave them 5 stars, the two biggest reasons were based on: their top service, and how they made me feel entering/during/walking out. Yes, your Yiros was oozing sauce, full of the right flavours, fresh vegies, quick wrapping - in fact, it was easily one of the best tasting Yiros I've had in the Adelaide CBD area. (But I can't forget that when you were listening to my verbal order, you maintained your cold angry facial expression straight into my eyes. I don't appreciate that at all.) Maybe I'm still caught up in the post X-mas holiday spirit where I wrongly expect that everybody should be positive, happy, smiley, or enjoy being at their work. But for a city that reminds their employees all the time about how you greet customers properly and having a happy attitude at work in general, I was secretly disappointed in your service. Yes, your Yiros is great, but I just can't get over how you served me with such a death stare. Did I do anything wrong to you, in the 5 seconds we just met? That's just not on when it comes to giving other people food. I'm on a break from work, absolutely starving, so the least you can do is smile. Please.

I can't say this place deserves its five-star rating as is given in the name. Maybe I am just lucky…read morethat around the corner from me the local pizza shop does amazing baked spuds but this just didn't satisfy. The portion size was ample and the staff were plenty friendly. The spud itself was quite dry and lacked that fluffy spud quality. The chilli con carne didn't have any beans in it, it was more like Bolognese with some chilli in it. The coleslaw was didn't have much flavour. The bacon wasn't crisp and the beetroot was dry. I have heard better things about the yiros but I won't be rushing back to try, especially with the other options in the food court

He said it took a while cause they had to cut it. Thank goodness we didn't cancel that order!!! When it came out, it didn't look that great and we were getting full. We normally like the rings and tentacles but this one was a steak cut into strips. As soon as I ate it, I told my bf OMG this is sooooo good! He tried and agreed. It was sooo tender and the seasoned batter fried crispy with some kinda spicy sauce on the bottom. We were so thankful we didn't cancel that order. We also had the special mushroom pizza which was amazing. Even the Brussels sprouts were done perfectly! I had the special watermelon cocktail. I was feeling a bit sick but am a watermelon-aholic so I needed to order it and it did not disappoint. Place was kinda like a club on Friday night. They had a DJ and the place was packed! I didn't care for the ambience much but the food was spectacular. Will definitely go back but maybe on a quieter night.

Perfectly seasoned, moist chicken with large crunchy chips and a selection of non mayo-soaked salads to choose from. Funky chicken serves up good birds but our 7:30pm visit here meant we caught one that was a bit dry. The chips are heavenly golden and big cut, as was previously mentioned. The salads are the winner here with beetroot and fetta, pumpkin and spinach, tabouli, greek and plenty more to choose from - again though get in early to get the pick of the crop and not left overs. Service was super quick and friendly and the price was good for a chicken shop. Overall, not the holy grail but definitely a contender should some of my other regulars be out on one of my fat wreck Friday type days.

One that I have already reviewed is the best, being Chicken Chef on Main North Road, however Funky Chicken on Duth Street isn't too far behind. The chicken is fine and all, it defeinately passes the 'skin' test.....but the one thing that sets the big boys apart from the pretenders is the chippies. Elissa and Penny are right on the money, Funky Chicken has some mental chips! That is all you need to know, get on em!

I now have this theory...the smaller the sushi spot and the more plastic meals they have on display the better and more freshly made the sushi roll. Being a huge raw tuna and sushi fan I was not overly astounded at the fish variety on the menu here (aside from 1 raw salmon sushi roll) however because I was feeling adventurous I thought I'd tried eel in a Dragon Roll and Caterpillar Roll. Ignore everything you know about eel and just put it in your mouth and swallow - it is really tasty. The rolls are made fresh in front of you - hence an enormous line up at lunch from 1pm. The rice is still soft and fluffy and does not have that stiff caked refrigerated taste. I also couldn't get over prices. My friend and I shared 12 pieces (larger than normal) of sushi + 2 green teas for a total of $15. Who would have thought I could get such great savings from this Bank St hole in the wall?

They have such attention to detail on the construction of these tasty delicacies. I've heard they are really good but I haven't tried myself! Let out your battle cry! This meal is not for the faint hearted and is about as manly as a BBQ can…read moreget. It only happens annually in the Garden of Unearthly Delights (February - March every year). So, if you have not tried it this year, get on down to the Garden quick smart before you miss out! Pigs on Fire originally started as a small set up a couple of years ago in the Garden. I remember when it was first set up you could smell the wafting smoke and BBQ pork throughout the whole park! It drew people to it. Like a cartoon, people floated in the air sniffing until they found the source of the hypnotic delicious smells. Now this BBQ is big and has it's own seating area and bar set up around it. It is an attraction in itself. The BBQ is set up Traditionally Dutch with large iron grills chained together in levels above a camp style fire. The fire looks to be lit with red gum for smokey flavour (but I could be wrong about the type of wood). The most entertaining part of the BBQ is watching the Chef's tilt, swirl and swing the BBQ grill over the fire to ensure that it stays lit and for even smoke distribution. Kind of like a BBQ swing. Also, I found it amusing the amount of gentlemen standing, watching and nodding at each other. As if to say, "Now that is how you BBQ!" As for the pork, well, if I could give it 10 stars I would. It is just something to be experienced. If you like smokey, salty and sweet porky flavours this is for you. I ordered the BBQ meats special. Like usual, I just want to try everything. So, out came a massive plate of meat! For me, a little girl, I was intimidated by my dinner! The only veggies on my plate was some lovely pickled onions and a piece of green cos lettuce (for colour I guess). My plate featured a sausage (with caraway, mustard seeds and beautiful seasoning), roast pork, pulled pork, seasoned crackling skin, and bread. Although this was a meat fest, it was a dreamy meat fest! Oh my, the crackling was the best I have ever tried; I could just eat a plate of it. Other options for those not wanting the mountain of meat, includes a pulled pork roll or a serving of roast pork/sausage, with smoked cauliflower, carrots and a creamy pearl barley side (kind of like a risotto). What I like about this BBQ is that it is a show as well as a meal. You can set yourself up at a table, enjoy amazing food and watch the boys cook it.
