Chef Ni is serving a range of Shanghai and Szechuan cuisine at very affordable prices in a clean and streamlined environment. This is one of those places where you see lots of Chinese students having a meal and enjoying themselves. That's always a good sign because young folk tend to respond well to food that reminds them of all the home comforts. A lot more sophisticated than fast food Western style, but fast and fresh is healthy when it comes to noodles, rice and the variety of mixed vegetables and meats served with spicy additions.
It is in an open space in the Renaissance Arcade so there are people walking past doing their shopping and birds do fly in and out - some find this charming - I do. Others will possibly find this not to their tastes, but when the food is as good and cheap as this, who cares if a little starling has come in to try its luck?
You can get take away, but it's best to sit and enjoy - they'll give you a free miso soup to clean your palate and you can people watch as you eat. Yummy and in my opinion, along with many dietitians, this is some of the healthiest ethnic food around! read more
