    Fried Pickles
    Samantha G.

We stopped by after visiting a nearby hot springs on our way to Idaho Falls. As expected, most places were closed on Sunday, but thankfully, Pickle's place was open for business The place was PACKED (probably because most places were closed in nearby towns). The service was good, granted how busy the restaurant was. This is a hole in the wall restaurant, so do not expect anything super trendy. This restaurant was opened in the 50s and has a lot of charm. We ordered the atomic burger (not pictured) and the fried pickles (pictured). The atomic burger was the BOMB ( no pun intended ;) ). We really enjoyed sharing that. The fried pickles were good, but I was expecting fried slices!

Every time I drive across Idaho, I take the long route so that I can stop at pickles place. I think this is the best place in the entire state of Idaho to eat. They have a very broad menu with drive-in style food plus things like ham and cheese on rye or malts instead of just shakes. A ton of different types of drinks. I drove there and took my wife for the first time and now she wants to just go there on occasion to eat. And it's two hours from our house. I love it.

The diner inside is super cute and homey. Our server was great, she was on it and very nice. Food is OK, nothing spectacular. We had pancakes and scrambled eggs and potatoes. Portions are gigantic, but we were hungry so that helps lol. I wasn't moved by their coffee. They have cute pickle t-shirts for sale.

Looking for a mom and pop joint with good burgers? Great spot to stop! We had a BLT and Bison burger. Would definitely swing by again and recommend. Nice staff, clean, great food & service

Tried to go here a few years ago but it was so crowded the wait time was crazy. Back through town this time for a few days and went early for dinner. Quick service, food was all fresh and delicious! Diner feel and clean inside. Will definitely go again, maybe try breakfast next time.

Food was hot and fresh ! Everything tasted good(especially the fried pickles) - the gentleman that served us was super friendly and attentive.would recommend if your in the area (wich is literally middle of no where -) we drove specially out of our way just to try this place.

Friends told us this is a pretty tasty spot so we made plans to go this way to try it out! Of course v started with the fried pickles & cheescurds appetizer. Next the Mr had the Ski Bum Burger and I the Reuben. Surprised the pickles came in fried spears vs chips and pretty sure the fried curds are supplied via food service but melted molten cheese is pretty good regardless. The burger had a really soft bun & no shortage of fresh veggies: onions, pickles, lettuce and tomato & he said onion rings were "perfect" & not greasy etc. The Ruben was decent, no regular thousand island on it but ok. Fair amount of sauerkraut. Service was awesome, even though really busy. Cleanliness a little lacking on floors, mustard, catsup and their seasoning shakers but it was really busy. Regardless, pretty good meal!

Table to the side and an Alaskan Amber

I was thinking that this was just going to be a basic diner but we decided to give it a try. We opened the door and there was a waiting line for a seat. Apparently, this is nothing new. They have a short but excellent beer list including an Alaskan Amber. Their fried pickles were seriously outstanding. We both had burgers which were good and the right amount of messy. The place is old but it works. With all of the people inside it was a bit noisy but we could still hear each other.

Great service, great location and a large variety of food on the menu. We stopped by for lunch on a rainy summer day. They were able to accommodate our group of 6. I had the steak sandwich with fries and a cup of soup. It was very good. We of course tried the fried pickles and cheese curds as appetizers and they were excellent. My daughter tries the pickle juice popsicle. She loved it. RV parking is just across the street. I'd recommend Pickles Place to anyone passing through Arco.

Not many places to choose from in Arco, but Pickle's Place is the best in town. Try the steak fingers basket and fries. Very tasty and fries were cut fresh like you would expect in Idaho. Service was also very friendly.

Best Pickles in Arco. They have a cool chair you can take pictures on outside too. Ordered the Idaho burger - no regrets.

The decor is garage or frat boy chic with a collection of old beer cans on the wall. We ordered hamburgers with fries that included pickles, lettuce and their sauce. Inside dining is very tight. The service was quick and the fries were hot, nicely salted. The burger was decent and filled a void. The male or owner behind the counter must be deaf as he was speaking at a shouting level. His history of past drug use drowned out our conversation. I'm sure he was trying to be engaging, but dude, no one wants to hear of your sorted history. DIAL IT BACK! It is not just about you. If I finished a day of skiing, Grumpys' might be a better option. The food was quick and inexpensive. To be honest, it is a burger / bar shack. I just don't care to hear some employee over shouting and sharing his past at the top of his lungs. I've been to remote truck stops with cleaner restrooms. Absolutely no need to return.

There is almost always a large crowd gathered out front, which usually tells you everything you need to know--but we finally made a point to stop in for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. The Brews Since it's a public house, the beer list is extensive. I opted for their Pilsner and Lager. Both were exactly what you want on a warm afternoon: light, crisp, and incredibly refreshing. The Food We decided to put their "best in town" claims to the test, and they did not disappoint: * Fish and Chips: They advertise these as some of the best around, and I'm happy to report they aren't exaggerating. The breading was perfectly light--not greasy or heavy--and the fish itself was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection. * BLT with Grilled Halloumi: My wife went with this, and the addition of the halloumi was a game-changer. Served on a pretzel bun, it was a unique and delicious twist on a classic. * The Fries: You can't have a pub lunch without good fries. These are those "just right" beer pub fries--crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Easily my favorite style. Verdict The atmosphere was great, the service handled the crowd well, and the food was fantastic. We will definitely be back for lunch on our next trip. If you're in Ketchum, don't just drive by--give it a try.

From the mug club, it seems like this is a local staple. There's trivia on Tuesdays. TVs on the walls. Picnic tables outside, if you're so inclined. I think some pubs just order from Sysco, fry it up and serve. Five stars because they're not doing that! Their food was "pub" but the elk burger was handmade and fresh, the pot pie wasn't out of a can thought the veg maybe been frozen not fresh, and some of the store bought stuff like their pretzel seemed better than a defrosted ballpark.
