Super cute name for this corner deli and the shop mascot, a smiling pickle, was also super cute. They had so many types of sandwiches and salads to choose from that it took us a minute to pick what we wanted to try. We ordered a Reuben, a turkey special, and a Cuban sandwich plus we grabbed a potato salad and pasta salad pre-packaged container to go. Everything was tasty and made with fresh ingredients. We were even asked if we wanted light meat, dark meat, or a combination of both on our turkey sandwich. They are open from 8am-2pm weekdays only, so they also have breakfast sandwiches on the menu. I was *slightly disappointed* there wasn't a pickle sandwich or more pickle options available, but it won't keep us from ordering from here again in the future. read more

I ordered take-out from "Pickles: A Deli" for a nice beach day. I was disgusted to find my sandwich had mold on parts of the bread. I'm sure the employees are doing the best they can, but this is a quality control issue. I had eaten more than half of my sandwich before realizing it was moldy...but despite this...the bread was not toasted and the sandwiches were soggy (15 minutes out of the restaurant). The pickles were good, and had a decent and strong flavor, but were comically large to the point where you're not sure if you should eat them in public. Consider cutting these into spears for easy eating. Maybe you should rename your establishment "Mold: A Deli" or "Abnormally Large Pickles: A Deli". read more

The best made sandwiches on AquidneckIsland! Believe me I ordered a Caesar shrimp wrap yesterday and it was so tasty and fresh! Not to much greens just enough. I've been going to Pickles for many years and now the location of our salon is next door! They make the best soups and always prepare a roast turkey for there famous thanksgiving turkey sandwich that will bring you back for another. Another favorite of mine is the Mac and Cheese. Although I can't do that often it's great to bring home and share. The staff at pickles is friendly and helpful. You can call it in or stop by. Easy parking . At least three reviewers wrote that this is the best deli on Aquidneck Island ... well, all I can say after trying this place is that y'all need to cross the bridge and try a deli on the mainland. I agree more with the 2-star and 3-star reviews, than the 4-star and 5-star reviews. In my opinion, Pickles is solidly, respectably, decidedly ... average. I'm not in this area often, but had a job nearby on Thursday and used the Yelp app to find this place. Even with GPS, I almost drove past Pickles, which is buried in a strip plaza. The two rows of parking spaces are so close to each other that I feared my work truck would get trapped in, so I parked at the edge of an entrance to the parking lot. I phoned in my to-go order of an Italian grinder; that, plus a bag of chips, set me back just over $9 (I already had a soda). It's a little expensive, especially when you consider that the grinder wasn't that big. It was on a torpedo roll, which was nothing special; it was the kind you could buy at any supermarket ... so were the deli meats in the sandwich. The sandwich contained salami, and what appeared to be black forest ham (a bit of an odd choice for an Italian grinder). And, they sell Utz chips - which are a bargain-basement brand. It felt like I could have easily made an equally good sandwich myself, at home. Actually, the sandwich would have been bland, if not for the awesome balsamic vinegar. I will say the bread and all ingredients were fresh. Oh, and one more thing: I find it very ironic that a deli named Pickles does NOT include a pickle with your sandwich! An amazing sandwich shop that offers a hearty lunch for a low price. This place is a hidden local gem located away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Upon arriving here you are greeted with a smile and a how can I help you. The very large menu with multiple options allows you to pick and choose how you would like your sandwich/sides. Today I ordered the All American which combined turkey, roast beef, and ham with lettuce, tomato, and cheese. The roll was soft and fresh and well proportioned to the amount of meat and toppings received. A little to much mayo was applied, but next time I'll just specify to go easy on the spread. Recently had a brunch for 45 people catered by Pickles Deli. Marco was a tremendous help from beginning (suggestions on menu, total amount of food needed, communication throughout) all the way to the day of the brunch. Everything was delicious and presentation was perfect! So many asked where we had this catered and asked for contact /website information. We had the salmon platter, bagels, fruit salad, pasta salad, mixed sandwich/wrap platters and several quiches. All so good and almost nothing left over at the end of the brunch! (speaks for itself!) I was looking for a quick lunch before going to the movies in Middletown and chose Pickles-A-Deli based on the yelp reviews and proximity to the theater. Pickles is located in a strip mall on Aquidneck. The menus are located on white boards on the walls, they offer 40+ sandwiches as well as a create your own option, so you can basically get whatever sandwich you can dream of. Sides include a number of different soups, chips and a few different cold pastas. I ordered a chicken pesto panini and my wife got a chicken salad. The staff was very nice and offered her a sample of the chicken salad before ordering (she even told us what local farm the chicken came from). The panini was average at best. The center was a bit cold and could have used another minute or two on the press to heat up like the rest of the sandwich. The chicken salad sandwich was slightly better. The restaurant could use a bit of work. There were some tiles in the corner that were coming up and the windows looked to be on their last leg. While Pickles was OK for a quick lunch, there are better options in the area, I do not plan to return. read more

Nice little deli and soup counter in Middletown. I am new to the area so I was exploring and saw the giant pickle sign and went in hoping for a good sandwich and soup and was not disappointed. It was a Thursday at 1100, so I was surprised by the number of people coming in and out. I was even more surprised that the ladies behind the counter knew most of the patrons by name and were very social. The wife and I had lunch together here, she had the clam chowder, I had a Reuben and the Split Pea and Ham soup. The soups were good, but we have had better at a couple of the other shops around town. I will admit, this is the first place I have been to where there are multiple places to get a good bowl of soup with a large variety. So this is by no means a down check on this place, just this place seems to have a lot of scratch made soup joints. The sandwich was good, a nice thick layer of shaved meat with a good Russian dressing made my sandwich exactly what I was looking for. If you are in the area, I recommend it, based on the clientele, the repeat customer things get the nice "Cheers" style service where they know your name, and I had nothing to complain about here. read more

I'm not one to ever post reviews but I just want to put out there the sandwich that I do not recommend. I ordered the Super Delight, which is the Dawn's Delight but with more turkey, I guess. The sandwich came with no dressing, no olive oil, just plain raw vegetables jam packed in a Syrian pocket that was ripped when I opened the package. First bite I took, the whole sandwich fell apart and was impossible to eat as a sandwich. They put a fork in the bag so maybe they knew this was not sandwich material...? But I'm sure their other sandwiches are fine. I just don't recommend the Super Delight. P.S. photo attached is what the sandwich looked like after one bite. I had to put some mayo and mustard on it from the beach snack bar for it to be edible. read more

I was in town enjoying a great bike ride and decided it was time for a great deli sandwich after working up an appetite! I've never been to Pickles before but as I was driving by the outdoor sign caught my eye so I turned around to see what they had to offer. First, the outside of the building is very clean and inviting, the inside was equally as clean with a cool ambience that promotes a casual setting. The cashier/server was very friendly and nice which made me feel welcomed and appreciated! The Ceaser Wrap I ordered was perfect! It was made with the right amount of dressing, fresh lettuce and I added tomatoes and onions which were fresh as well. Terrible service today. I was in earlier than others and watched people order and leave before me. They ordered the same sandwiches but somehow, their orders weee prepared first. I've always been a fair Pickles but that was the old crew. They weee excellent. This new crew is pretty weak. The answer to why my food was late was that they lost my ticket. I love coming to Pickles for a sandwich at lunch time. Their food is made fresh and it is great. The sandwiches are huge so you will not leave hungry! They make a great chicken cutlet for their chicken sandwiches as well. Recently I had the eggplant parm pita and it was very good.
