Think of it as a dumb down version of Panda Express. Whilst everyone has their own opinion on good and authentic Chinese food, i still don't mind a good Panda Express or pick up stix. We ordered such a great family pack deal. It's supposed to feed 3 people, but actually fed my family of 5! Portions were decent and the food was actually pretty tasty! The chicken was also pretty tender considering its fast food casual. The staff has great customer service and was attentive to our needs, especially my daughter who has food allergies. Chains are an interesting thing. The headquarters supply the menu and food supplies and it's left to the hourly employees to do the best with what they are given. The line cooks don't mess with adding "their" touch and the managers of franchises don't either. I went the other night and the store is cute and inviting. Staff could not have been nicer. So, I order safe egg roll and Mongolian beef with brown rice. Egg rolls were tasteless and the beef so chewy I threw them both out. $19 down the drain. I don't blame the staff, they didn't make it. I now get teased mercilessly for loving their firecracker tofu... it's my fault.... I sometimes make the mistake of being vulnerable to those who are unworthy and don't deserve it. I'll share personal info and let some pretender into my inner world, only to find them not appreciating me nor the crispy saucy tofu I've grown to adore. People can be incredibly stupid. Myself included. I need to keep people at arms length and away from the crispy cream cheese wontons that delight me at lunch. So I visit here in secret. I usually have half a dish for lunch and the rest for dinner. I make sure to hide all the evidence as to not to draw the judgement of harsh eyes powered by walnut sized brains... So yes, it's nothing close to anything authentic and I love it anyway. They do an above average tofu that makes all the pain in the world melt away with each bite. The pain comes back of course, but it's more bearable. After all you know you can get more tofu! My dirty little shameful habit is an open secret. I haven't had the chow mein in years, and this was just as I remembered. The noodles are thicker than panda which I appreciate, the cream cheese in the wontons had a slight after taste but good crisp. We didn't order any mains of chicken or beef because I think panda is more superior in that regard with expectation setting (and I believe you will see in the reviews the people who were more upset is because of these things).
