Now, my frame of reference is highly limited! I've been to, what, under 5 wrecking yards in my life? Anyway, the yard - for a dirty wrecking yard - is well organized. Chevy's are with Chevy's; Accords with Accords; and all of the BMWs, Mercedes, and Volvo's are together out back. Admission is $2 or $3, and wear old, dirty clothes, and bring a few basic tools. If you have the right mindset, it can be an adventure! Cars are propped up, on top of welded rims. Want to know why I went? A new "window guard" for a classic 1984 Volvo is $96... an old version from a 'dismantler' is $45 - $55 ... and when I went to Pick n Pull, it was ... $5! Yes, I had to get it myself. And when I went to another location, the same part was $9. But I am still way ahead. If you have a bit of adventure, for smaller /easy parts, this is the way to go. If you're a woman, you may want to bring a male friend who has some beef, or can pretend. An Uncle, friend, or co-worker. And I'm wondering... why aren't more movie scenes ever filmed in these places? There is also a GREAT Taco Truck outside... the place isn't far from Highway 880. read more

EASIEST $1,000 EVER MADE About a month ago my 1994 Toyota Corolla didn't pass my smog test due to not complying with the NO (PPM) regulations. I considered fixing up the car but since this was a 20 year old car I decided to retire it. I went to the BAR's (Bureau of Automotive Repair) website at www.smogcheck.ca.gov to apply for the Consumer Assistance Program (CAP) to retire my car and receive a $1,000. A month later I received the letter from BAR. I followed the instructions stated on the BAR letter and went here last Saturday. By following the instructions on the letter the process of retiring and dismantling my car went smoothly. The paperwork to process the retiring took no more than 10 minutes while the process of inspecting the car took no more 20 minutes. After the whole process the worker at this site who issued the paperwork and inspected my car said the check will be ready in 30 minutes. I informed her I had some errands to do and that I will be back in a couple of hours. When I came back the certified check of $1,000 was issued to me. Time to update and put out a complaint! I've been going to this yard since I moved here! I never had issues and don't mind paying if the price is right. The guy in front of me was complaining about prices and called the manager and told the guy, "she don't know what she doing". I laughed it off and another guy in line was like, "stop bullshitting". I should have looked at that as a warning or a foreshadow. A girl who has been only working there for 6 months, rang up 1986 cressida tail lights (usually $20) and a 95 headlight ($20) and a few other parts higher than normal. I didn't realize it at first, but was blindly signing it off, but when I looked at the receipt, she had charged everything, "LIKE NEW". I couldn't believe it. I threw it fit and talked to the manager right away. He explained that they judge by grade, well, yes, I'm not going to buy cracked head/taillights, but they are not "like new". I was so pissed, I asked them to cancel my $120 debt charge. I expected to pay about $80 my estimates. ------------------------------ Let me say this, I understand it is a business and I don't mind paying a fair price for parts... but don't be charging LIKE NEW for parts that are not like new in an effort make an extra profit. Ahhh do it youselfers, car guys, students of the car craft, and wannabe students of the car craft... THIS is the place to be. If you got an old car and need a part come on down to pick n pull! seriously 2 bucks gets you in but you should wear some dirty clothes and bring your tools. Learn how to take apart parts on a junked car instead of breaking yours! You can find parts for cheap and i've found a few gems for my little honda civic. I've even bought a part that was bent on my clutch cable for 10 bucks! Seriously if I took it to the shop it would have cost me over 150 with labor/parts! Side note... If you are looking for a Muffler/exhaust i'd past on this yard because they prop up the cars on these stands and usually it's crushes the muffler/piping. I guess it'll depend on your car. If you don't like your hands to get dirty, wear gloves! Just make sure you wear some sun screen so you won't get a sunburn. read more

This is my favorite salvage yard in the area. It's the biggest and nicely organized, especially compared to pickyourpart in Hayward. These yards are best for older cars, pre 90s. Unless you have a Saturn or Kia, hehe. I routinely see younger models of those cars there. The taco truck is also pretty good. The taco truck is now operated by a vietnamese or chinese, but the tacos are still tasty. I also like that this yard usually isn't too crowded. read more

Almost nothing past the mid '90's in the yard and everything's been exposed to the elements for way too long. First Pick-n-Pull I've been too. The staff is friendly and helpful for general questions. I found the cars I wanted to pick from on their website and knew which rows they were in. When I paid to get it, I said I was new and they gave me a map. Sure I'd like a personalized staff member to guide me to the exact car I want to pull from and pull the part I want out but then each part would cost a million dollars. read more

PRO: 'Bout the biggest salvage yard I ever been to so far. In addition to literally tons of passenger vehicles, they also have a large selection of trucks, vans, RV's and industry vehicles that you seldom see at other lots. CON: Most of what's out here is pretty well picked clean. I did see money-making potential on several parts that would definitely sell on eBay, but had to bypass the opportunities due to time constraints. For $2 entry fee, it's a heckava' show! Easy to get lost out here, especially the back rows. Be careful and watch for the fast-moving Earth movers rumbling through the yard moving cars & junk around. Get hit by one of those and it's a very BAD day indeed. As an aside, and from an environmental perspective, it was kinda sad to see used oil filters & oil seeping into the standing groundwater in the middle of what looks to be a huge waterfowl & bird wetland. I thought they were supposed to drain the cars of all hazardous fluids? Must've missed a few. Anywhoo, the "roach coach" out front makes some huge, cheap, bomb-a%$ breakfast burritos too. read more

I needed a replacement spare tire for my Pontiac Vibe. The search found me a Toyota Matrix nearby (the closest Vibe was in Stockton!) and I went out, opened the hatch, pulled the tire, paid for it ($20!) and was done. If I'd gone through eBay, it would have been at least $50. Anytime I need a portable part, this is where I'm trying first. read more

LOVE this place. I'm a woman who loves the salvage yard. I don't know why. I just do. I've been to other salvage yards but this one is the biggest and usually has a few versions of the same car, in case someone already picked the part you needed. Once you figure out how the cars are arranged, small pickups, large pickups and vans, American cars, European in the back, you can usually find the car you're going to pick from where it should be. You used to go to spend the afternoon and pick up some tacos but I haven't seen the truck in a while. I need a rear DS quarter panel for my daughter's Echo. EBay wants $60, which is insane to me. Watch out for their Shady pricing policy. Went in was told 19.99 plus 2.99 core for brake calipers. Went out pulled 2 front calipers and went to the front to get cashed out. 88$ and change. I asked wtf you just quoted me 19.99 plus 2.99 core for each. Then she started listing off all the extras she was charging me for hardware, pins mounting bolts. I guess you have to completely disassemble the caliper and the bare core is 19.99. Screw tgis place. When is our turn, she also helping 2 other people. She mistake request for $100 refund, instead of $1000 refund. She end up taking extra time to fix the problem. She keep saying it is minor problem. I appreciate greatly that the turnover is lower than some of the smaller pick-n-pulls in the bay area, they all have a somewhat slow inventory update so you might drive an hour or two to discover the car you were coming to pull parts from was crushed a couple days ago. If you could call them to check that would be fine, but with no phone #... They also have a knack for ramming the cars with the forklift, so you see the picture and the door you want looks fine and you go there to find a neat fork dent in it. read more

I gave 2 stars because Fernando and the only obvious over weight girl let me walk out with some parts for a discounted price. I got a transmission, for $50 and 2 tires for $20. What a deal! I dont mind helping them make a little extra side money, its messed up how at the register, the cashiers want to make up their own price! Watch out for Erika! Horrible communication through this location itself. Scheduled pick up for two vehicles & got quoted $200 and $189 without tires. Now I have the tow truck here and the checks were only $100 each. Since I could remember, my dad would come here to find parts for my Toyota Camry. He was very keen on doing things himself so he would put on some old clothes, pack a bag with some tools and he came back with what he needed. Fast forward 7 years and my little bucket just couldn't keep up with smog inspection no matter what little tweaks we tried and it didn't make sense to keep putting money into a car that was almost 25 years old. I applied for the state to retire it off the road, I got approved and now my first car is about to be crushed. I arrived to the office at about 3 PM and I was helped by Arody. He was very thorough with explaining what I needed to do on my part and he was very quick with paperwork & inspecting the vehicle. About a hour later, I got my check and I was on my way. One thing I did notice was that many people were coming in at 3:30/3:45 PM and being turned away because of a discrepancy/miscommunication over the phone. I understand it's first come first serve but the receptionist/operator or whoever answers the phone should be clear that the office is closed at 4 PM and you won't be helped just because you arrived before that time frame. Anyone that's planning to do BAR/CAP through the state here should take note it does take about a hour to do the paperwork, inspect the vehicle and get approval for the check; plus there will always be people in front of you doing the same thing... it's just best to get things done early way before closing time. read more

I went to this pick and pull yesterday and came out satisfied! First of all, I have never been to a pick and pull before so I came completely unprepared. I was wearing flats, a brand new white blazer, and had zero tools with me. I probably looked so ridiculous! I got there and told them what I needed and what kind of car I drove and the guy at the front gave me a list of what cars were in the lot. He also gave me a map of where those cars were. Honestly, I was confused and he wasn't too helpful. I decided to just walk in and go for it. That is after he stopped me because I forgot to pay my $2 entrance fee. Even though the guy at the front wasn't helpful, many people who were already inside were. I found a bunch of taillights, just like the one I needed. Some were broken. Some were locked inside the trunk. Luckily I found one that wasn't broken and with the trunk open. This random guy and his son helped me take the light out and then helped me install it outside. He was a kind man. Overall, instead of paying $200 for a brand new taillight online; I ended up paying $26 for a used one that works perfectly fine. This place is scary. I recommend you wear good shoes and come before dark. To all women!! Bring a buddy. This place was definitely a grave yard for cars. RIP to all the souls that died in those things. read more

I love the lot, but they don't answer their phones ever. I called three times to see if they even stock wheel dust caps. Why even list a phone number? I did not see dust caps there on my last visit. They recycle all wheels as they get more $$$ for them than they would selling them to you. If you sell them your car you might as well take the wheels off and recycle yourself. Went here looking specifically for a new wheel for my car. Apparently, even though they list prices for wheels, it is now their policy to strip wheels from cars and send them to recycling. It took talking to three people to find this out, and I had to pay an entrance fee to discover this. There is no indication on their website that this is their policy, and no indication on their price list that you won't be able to find a wheel. This feels like nothing but shady practice. I had to waste an entry fee and a couple hours of my time to find this out. Of course, the entry fee is nonrefundable. They should be forthright about what they do and don't have, _in general_, available before you go in. I'm not saying that they need to maintain an inventory of every part--that would be impossible!--but if they remove ALL of a particular part, then it would really be nice to know that before going in, so you don't waste your time. Especially since their price list, both on their website AND at the yard itself, says that they do sell the part in question and lists a specific price for it. Then again, they got their money from me, so, apparently, why should they care? Who knows what else they'll strip off without telling you if you're looking for a specific part? read more
