I completed a Moving Quote Request on a Saturday, and they called me on Monday with some questions. Andrew was very friendly and professional. My move included moving furniture from White Marsh to Mount Washington, with a stop in Timonium to drop off and pick up more items. A three stop move with lots of stairs at each location was quoted at $750. This was reasonable since I had anticipated spending about $1,000. Their window for a Friday move date was between 10-12. They called when they were about 20 minutes away and met me promptly at 10 AM. Four guys in a huge truck arrived and got right to work. Within half an hour we were on our way to the second stop to drop off a bed and retrieve the rest of the furniture. Off we went to the third and final stop to unload everything. I was nervous about large items fitting up a narrow stairwell, but the guys assured me that if I had measured right, they would have it all fitting in the apartment in no time. That they did. When everything was unloaded, the driver went over the listed items and made sure everything on the list had been moved and put in the apartment. The price quoted was the price I paid, and they were done in exactly two hours. I tipped each guy in cash and felt a huge sense of relief when they drove away - knowing moving day was successful and complete. Great customer service and fast and efficient movers.

It was Bookstore Movers' excellent customer service that earns them 5 stars. The 3 movers showed up early and worked very quickly and efficiently. In that haste, some items were damaged and I offered that feedback in the follow-up survey. I quickly received a call from the company offering to discount my move and send Walter Davies, a furniture repair person, out to make furniture repairs. That concern for customers and making things right earns Bookstore Movers 5-star service. Walter Davies was excellent and thorough in repairing my furniture. I worked with a different moving company 2 years ago that left me scarred for life with how rude and unprofessional they were. I ended up having to finish the job myself (moving my giant couch up four flights of stairs), so when I knew I was moving again, I did my due diligence and sought out a few quotes. Another company quoted me almost $800 and required a 3 hour minimum for the job!! $800 seemed steep and I knew the job wouldn't take that long... Along came Bookstore Movers who quoted me a reasonable $470 minimum for two hours of work and a maximum of $680 for 3.5 hours of work (price breakdown: $140 per hour with 2 hour min. plus a $190 truck fee). I received a quote within a few hours of requesting it. There was no deposit required and the date was booked. I received detailed emails leading up to the move about FAQs, tips for a seamless move, and the names of my crew including contact info for the crew lead. Abdul (crew lead), Niiwayo "Y.O", and Milly were SO fast and friendly. They wrapped every single item with care in drop cloths and got to moving immediately. Despite the 90 degree heat and a total of five flights of stairs, the job was finished in 2 hours. I was SO impressed. I was so traumatized by my last move that I literally had to walk away while they moved the couch in but before I knew it, I got a text from my boyfriend telling me they had fit it through the door and our living room was all set up. I was so relieved and happy to work with them. If and when we move again, (hopefully not anytime soon, lol), I will 100% be contacting Bookstore Movers... and you should too!

They kept me informed throughout the process and were extremely trustworthy and personable, especially when I had to run out of the house to handle something leaving them alone and when I ended up having more items than originally planned for the move. I am extremely happy with the results and will definitely be using and recommending them to friends and family in the future. Thank you Carlos and Jonathan for your help! Overall, my move was a little over $800 (took about 5 hours with 2 movers for a local move from a 3-story townhome to a 2-story condo ) and I gave a generous tip considering the amount of work they did. Services: Furniture disassembly and reassembly, small furniture moving, wrapping pictures, mirrors and frames, moving storage boxes.

As I read all of the overwhelmingly positive reviews, I have to wonder how I could have had the…read moreexperience I had. Could I have avoided the stressful outcome I endured by just asking them upfront if they would move all of my boxes? If they would stay on the job until it was finished? It may sound silly to ask this of a moving company, but read on. I'll start by saying that the three men who handled my move were mostly professional and careful for the eleven or so hours that they worked. Also, I significantly underestimated the number of boxes I had to move. Serena was very helpful when I initially contacted the company. I provided an inventory of my belongings and some photographs and she worked out a quote that was agreeable. On moving day, her team showed up on time. They were all personable and receptive to my requests. By early afternoon, the moving van was filled up ... but there were still about a hundred boxes in the old house. Suppose the new house didn't have enough room for everything? I asked if they could help me take the remaining items to a storage facility. They pointed out that by the time the van was unloaded, regular offices hours at those facilities would be over. The new house was about a 20 minute drive from the old house. I left in my car and the movers left in their van at around the same time. I arrived at the new house expecting them to be right behind me. For quite a while, they didn't show. I tried calling them but they didn't answer. After about 45 minutes, they arrived. They took a break for lunch. That's fine. Why didn't they just tell me? I labelled each of my boxes with the name of the room where I wanted it to go. For the most part the movers put the boxes in the correct rooms. However, the next morning I could not locate my toothbrush, razor, and a number of other items so I had to purchase replacements. They also dented a wall when moving the couch. They compensated for this by deducting a credit from my total bill. Sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 pm, the men had finished unloading the moving van. The boxes were distributed fairly evenly throughout the house and there was still free space remaining in each room. The team leader started preparing my bill, so I thought they were done for the day. I settled the bill and anxiously tried to figure out how I was going to get the rest of my boxes moved. Was I going to call another moving company? Rent a cargo van? Over the next week and a half, I made ten trips, usually after work, from my old house to the new one, squeezing as many boxes as I could into my little sedan. I finally got the last of the boxes moved. Not fun for an old guy with a bad back. The entire episode left me exhausted and wondering if somehow things could have been handled better. A few days after completing the second stage of my move (and nearly two weeks after the first stage) I received a voice mail message from Serena. She wanted to know how things went. She already knew there had been an issue with me having too many boxes for one trip because one of the movers had called the office on the day of the move to advise her. In her message Serena said that the office was currently closed for a holiday but that I could call her on her dedicated line. Unfortunately, she didn't realize that her line had been switched off for the holiday and was not accepting messages. A day or two later we did manage to connect. Serena was careful to ask me just a few general questions so as to avoid suggesting that anything had been handled improperly. At the same time, she wanted to know what had happened and what options, if any, I was given. I eventually told Serena that none of the movers offered to make a second trip to collect the rest of my boxes and I believed that was because they did not work after 8:00 or 9:00 pm. Serena assured me that sometimes they worked past midnight. They keep working until the job was done. Except in my case. She also agreed that the three men could have moved the last set of boxes within 90 to 120 minutes. Serena told me she would discuss the matter with the movers and get back to me. But I never heard back from her. I still don't know what to make of this entire affair. I work in customer service and I use all of my resources to ensure the all of my clients' needs are fulfilled. That's what they depend on my for. Of course, if I knew there was an option of making one more relatively short trip to complete the job, I would have gladly taken it. The company would have gotten more money, the movers would have received larger tips, and I wouldn't have faced the ordeal of moving a hundred boxes a dozen at a time by myself. Ouch!

If I could give a zero rating, I would. This company is a complete scam!…read more I booked my move two weeks again for a move tomorrow. My friend and I live in the same complex and moving to another unit across the parking lot. So, we need her place and my place moved into one space. We have packed everyone up and though we were ready to go. They called me to confirm my move today and spoke with Chris. We went over the items and then the price. He even threw in a free kitchen packing kit and said the guys would help. Cool. He also gave me discount and I was happy. Kion calls me an hour later asking me to confirm the move. What? I spoke to Chris. We go over things and he tells me we are good to go. I am emailed a confirmation and then see a different price. I call back and speak to him again and he says, oh, that is an estimate but we would be done before that price. Then, I get a call from Mike. He wants to confirm my move and inventory. What the heck? He says his notes are confusing so he wants to check. We go over things, AGAIN. He then tells me that it sounds like more work so, he is going to send 5 guys instead of the original 2 guys and a truck because it's gonna be a big job and that it would take 9-12 hours and double the price that I was told. Umm, what? For a 2 bedroom apartment?? He tells me I can speak to his general manager, Kion. I literally confirmed with him before! I literally start crying because I am already stressed from preparing to move in a timely manner before the 31st. Kion and I speak again and he won't even let me get a word in and trying to say that the numbers Mike estimated are correct and that there is no way it wouldn't be a full day job. I cancelled, he says he will return my deposit and then transfers me to customer care where the guys asks me what can he help me with? You tell me, sir. He hears me out and says he need to speak with Kion to get his perspective and will call back. No one has called. Lesson learned to NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

All My Sons Moving - Virginia North…read more This moving company needs to be investigated for fraud or deceptive business practices. I booked my move a week in advance and paid a $100 deposit after being told it would guarantee my moving date and secure my spot. Then, only 3 days before my scheduled move, the manager -- I believe his name was David -- called to tell me they were fully booked for the entire week and that my move would either need to be rescheduled or canceled altogether. I made it very clear from the beginning that my apartment lease ends on the 31st and that I needed to move before then. Had this company been honest about the fact that paying a deposit did not actually guarantee service, I would have hired another moving company much earlier. Now I'm left scrambling at the last minute, despite having everything planned out. I also have to report to work in another state on the 1st, so this has created a major inconvenience and unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, speaking with them on the phone was a complete disaster. The communication was unprofessional, disorganized, and unacceptable. They agreed to refund the $100 deposit, but that does not make up for the inconvenience, stress, and potential consequences this situation may cause me. If I receive penalties from my landlord for a late move-out or face any employment-related consequences because of this company's failure to honor their commitment, I will absolutely be exploring all possible legal and consumer protection options.
