Fried fish from Vietnam and Chinese crawfish. No, no, no!!
    Mike P.

Years ago my wife and I would frequent Piccadilly in Baton Rouge on occasion for lunch. We stopped going. Today, while passing through Juban's Crossing we thought we would have lunch at the Walk On's but it was very crowded and had more than a 30 minute wait. So we thought about the nearby Piccadilly. Now I recall why we quit doing an occasional lunch at Piccadilly. I deplore restaurants that continue to serve Chinese crawfish- to add to it their "Southern Fried Fish" is from Vietnam! A fish called Sway. We are a coastal state and our restaurants need to support our fishermen by buying local. The manager told be they serve what the purveyor buys. Well change purveyors! So never again Piccadilly.

Baked Fish, Fried Okra, Carrot Souffle, and a Roll

After doing some shopping over at Juban, my mom and I decided to try Piccadilly out. I had not eaten there since the Covid-19 outbreak, and wanted to see what steps they were taking to ensure our safety. There were more than a few patrons there and you could pick where you wanted to be seated. If tables were closed off to maintain social distancing, I didn't see it. All of the employees were wearing masks, including the servers. As I glanced into the restaurant, I could see tables being thoroughly cleaned. There was very little time spent in line, and was able to get the food I wanted and was seated in close to 5 minutes. For my lunch, I had the baked fish, fried okra, carrot souffle, and a wheat roll. This was my first time eating the fish. It was okay, but don't think I would order it again. It was pretty bland, but this seems to be the way all the foods here are prepared. My mom commented that her food was not seasoned at all. The fried okra and the roll were good, but the carrot souffle was amazing. I could have made that a meal in itself. Total bill for my food was $14. We were in and out in around 30 minutes, which we enjoyed being able to do.

I met a friend at Duke's, and we specifically wanted to try their softshell crawfish. I had only…read moreread about them before, but I've never had them. Since I arrived early, I sat at the bar and had a mango piña colada. The bartender was friendly and helpful in selecting a flavor for the piña colada. When my friend arrived, she had one too. We agreed that they were really good. We paid our bar tab and got a table. The facility was nice and clean and had seating for about 100 people. I noticed that there were many employees standing around doing nothing, although I expect that later that evening, the place got really , Although the place was nearly empty, they still seated us close to the door to the kitchen, which I really didn't appreciate. We both ordered the softshell crawfish, and I was delighted that they brought out hush puppies at no charge as soon as we sat down. It didn't take long for them to bring out the soft shell crawfish along with a dipping sauce that was something unfamiliar. My friend didn't really like it, and I used it, but was rather ambivalent about it. The soft show crawfish seemed overcooked to me, and I've had fried crawfish tails many times that were much better. At least I can now say that I have actually had the chance to try a softshell crawfish. Also, since the proceeds from sale of the softshell crawfish, we're going to medical expenses for the owner's daughter's liver transplant, I was happy to contribute to that cause. I would go back to Dukes again, but I would order something other than the softshell crawfish.
