    Beautiful drinks
    lori s.

This dinner was one of the best meals we've had in Cabo. The very best at Rancho. Having a timeshare here makes it easy to eat here so we'll definitely come back every visit. The drinks were top class!! My frozen drink was the alcoholic (vodka added) version of the non alcoholic coconut passion fruit "daiquiri". I had two and had to force myself to stop ordering another. Best frozen drink I've ever had, and I've had my fair share! I had seen a video of the restaurant on our shuttle many times. On the video you see an aging meat, like a sausage, hanging. So I asked about it since I didn't see it in the menu. Our waiter asked the chef about it and then brought us a plate of capicola for the table. I could have eaten it all myself. But then the "greens" came out. Again. I could have eaten it all myself. Bread basket is also a must. No. I couldn't eat it all myself. But, I had my fair share! There were 4 of us and all but me ordered the short ribs. My lamb was excellent but I did regret not joining them. Luckily there was plenty to share. Finally the dessert. I can't express the need to save room. It was a sweet corn tamale with toffee ice cream and sweet plantains. That, I practically did eat myself as everyone else was full on short ribs. Lol. I highly recommend going out of your way to eat here if you aren't staying in the area. It would be a beautiful spot for a sunset dinner. If you are at Rancho its a no brainer, or near by, like at the Hard Rock and want a break from their all inclusive meals. Definitely give it a try!

***AVOID if you value your HEALTH and SAFETY*** FOOD POISONING - We vacation in Cabo annually and after reading their impressive reviews we were excited to try Pícaro for the first time on Sunday, Oct 2. The sunset ambiance was amazing and the food seemed amazing - at the time. That was until my partner and I both got violently ill around 5-8 hours later. It truly ruined our entire week of vacation, as we've been stuck in our room on prescription antibiotics for days! I've had food poisoning once before in my life, but this was horrendous and required medical expenses for us to help recover. I travel all over the world and consider myself an adventurous eater with a strong gut, but I would never risk eating there again after this experience. While food poisoning is usually difficult to pinpoint, this was fairly conclusive since their cuisine was the first restaurant we ate at in Cabo and the first time we shared food or beverages since we were in NYC prior. DENIAL - The worst part is that after calling and emailing the mgmt team offering to provide feedback, they fully deny and dismiss our experience. Pícaro's PR and Mgmt team cite that it couldn't be them because the food was safe "days prior" and it takes days to weeks for food poisoning to take effect - Trust me the email they sent is comical. For reference, the CDC website even lists food poisoning can occur within 30 minutes! It's frightening that a restaurant doesn't understand how food safety works and treats episodes so cavalier and dismissive. For your health and safety, avoid this place!

We had very good appetizers and desserts but the lamb entree was a disappointment. It had no taste and was entirely bland.

This was hands down my best dinner of the entire Cabo trip, and if you are heading there, bookmark…read morethis place immediately. There was some real competition for top meal, but this one ran away with it. It is a little up the hill and slightly off the main tourist path from downtown Cabo, but still totally walkable and well worth the effort. And if you can plan ahead, go on a Monday. That is when they offer the Molcajete special, which is reason enough on its own to visit. I also heard their steak night is fantastic, so you really cannot go wrong. The space itself is beautiful. The dining room feels polished and inviting, and there is also a charming outdoor area if you prefer fresh air over AC. We kicked things off with the tableside guac, which was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want to start a meal. Even better, they brought out a complimentary little starter first, which is one of my absolute favorite restaurant traditions. In this case it was two mini empanadas, one mushroom and one cheese. Truly a Sophie's choice situation because both were excellent - hubby and I split them in half. For the main event, we split the Molcajete Monday special. You can choose your protein, and we went with steak, though chicken and (I think) shrimp were also options. It came with both corn and flour tortillas if you ask nicely, all housemade. The portion was easily enough for two. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly, sitting in a smoky, slightly spicy sauce in a traditional volcanic stone bowl. Absolutely delicious and one of those dishes you keep talking about long after the meal ends- and much to my travel companions dismay, I talked about it for many days after... Even though we were completely stuffed, I had already seen photos of the flan and could not skip it. We ordered that along with churros to share among four people. Do yourself a favor and skip the churros-- The towering flan is the star. Everyone at the table agreed it was the best we have ever had. A nearby table ordered the crème brûlée and looked genuinely jealous once they saw ours arrive. For what felt like a splurge night, the final bill was surprisingly reasonable, especially compared to US city prices. When you split dishes like we did, it feels like an incredible value for the quality. Treat yourself to this place. And if at all possible, go on a Monday. We almost went back a second time, which says everything. Bathrooms are also lovely, and there is an open kitchen. Service was great too. Treat yo-self!!!

We started with ceviche made from shrimp and octopus- it was very meaty and well seasoned. We shared the pork shank in adobo sauce. It was so tender it fell off the bone!! And paired with fresh tortillas- heavenly!! We had old fashioned and whiskey sour and both were well made. We finished with flan - best in Mexico!! The staff was attentive and friendly and really took care of us. They also have an outside patio. This is a hidden gem- highly recommend!!
