This was hands down my best dinner of the entire Cabo trip, and if you are heading there, bookmark this place immediately. There was some real competition for top meal, but this one ran away with it. It is a little up the hill and slightly off the main tourist path from downtown Cabo, but still totally walkable and well worth the effort. And if you can plan ahead, go on a Monday. That is when they offer the Molcajete special, which is reason enough on its own to visit. I also heard their steak night is fantastic, so you really cannot go wrong. The space itself is beautiful. The dining room feels polished and inviting, and there is also a charming outdoor area if you prefer fresh air over AC. We kicked things off with the tableside guac, which was fresh, flavorful, and exactly what you want to start a meal. Even better, they brought out a complimentary little starter first, which is one of my absolute favorite restaurant traditions. In this case it was two mini empanadas, one mushroom and one cheese. Truly a Sophie's choice situation because both were excellent - hubby and I split them in half. For the main event, we split the Molcajete Monday special. You can choose your protein, and we went with steak, though chicken and (I think) shrimp were also options. It came with both corn and flour tortillas if you ask nicely, all housemade. The portion was easily enough for two. The steak was tender and cooked perfectly, sitting in a smoky, slightly spicy sauce in a traditional volcanic stone bowl. Absolutely delicious and one of those dishes you keep talking about long after the meal ends- and much to my travel companions dismay, I talked about it for many days after... Even though we were completely stuffed, I had already seen photos of the flan and could not skip it. We ordered that along with churros to share among four people. Do yourself a favor and skip the churros-- The towering flan is the star. Everyone at the table agreed it was the best we have ever had. A nearby table ordered the crème brûlée and looked genuinely jealous once they saw ours arrive. For what felt like a splurge night, the final bill was surprisingly reasonable, especially compared to US city prices. When you split dishes like we did, it feels like an incredible value for the quality. Treat yourself to this place. And if at all possible, go on a Monday. We almost went back a second time, which says everything. Bathrooms are also lovely, and there is an open kitchen. Service was great too. Treat yo-self!!! read more

Amazing place hidden away in Cabo- best meal we had all week!! Started with complimentary empanadas- one cheese and one mushroom with 3 different salsas. Both were delicious! We started with ceviche made from shrimp and octopus- it was very meaty and well seasoned. We shared the pork shank in adobo sauce. It was so tender it fell off the bone!! And paired with fresh tortillas- heavenly!! We had old fashioned and whiskey sour and both were well made. We finished with flan - best in Mexico!! We enjoyed 2 dinners while staying in Cabo & will definitely return next time we are there. Excellent service, very nice restaurant. We took a taxi & we're glad we did, because we weren't familiar with the area & probably would've had difficulty finding it at night. There wasn't anyone around on the streets at night or any stores open. So, unless you're very familiar with that area, I recommend that you Tate an Uber or taxi. Don't be afraid to try anything on the menu, everything was very fresh & the place was very clean. read more

We have, as a group, been poking around all of the restaurants in Cabo for the past little bit, and I will say that this has been an absolutely wonderful meal. Based on previous experience in this area overall, steaks have been a little dicey as far as excellence, but this steak here was absolutely fantastic. I had the bone in filet and it was everything that I would have expected from a five star steakhouse from my hometown in DC. The sides were a chefs kiss on top. Lastly I will say that the overall experience was fantastic. The restaurant was clean. The bathrooms were clean. The bar was clean. The service was friendly. Keep coming back here. In October we traveled to Cabo for a girls trip. We found this place online and decided to try. Conveniently located near our Airbnb. We had 7 woman total. They had a very nice area in back with air conditioning. We had great servers attending to us from minute we got there. They also had the football game on which was nice for One of our football fans. The service was ex Ellen's. The restaurant nicely decorated. Servers attentive for entire experience. We were brought courtesy empanadas that were amazing. We had many different dishes from tacos, to steak and lobster and we had the special if day Pork Chamorro braised for 12 hours and it was amazing. The food was impeccable. Kauil is amazing!! The food, ambiance, and service from Victor, Gustavo, and Daniel were amazing. They were attentive, and made sure we had everything we need. We were here for the Monday night special: Molcatjete. It was AMAZING!! My Mom and I had coconut shrimp, which had an amazing homemade sauce. My sister got the Chile Rellanao, which came in a full bell pepper. We had margaritas, paloma's, wine, and mojitos, ending the night with the brownie sunday and churro!! Everything was great. Their daily deals are the best! We went on Sunday for their 14 oz Vacio steak for $22 US. We also got their table side prepared cesar salad. Our waiter explained each step of making the dressing - so much better than the typical bottled Cesar salad dressing! The kitchen also gave us complimentary cheese and bean empanadas with three kinds of salsa. We were stuffed with all the amazing food. Great staff, very attentive and helpful! This was one of the lasts restaurants we visited on our recent Cabo family vacation. A local recommended the restaurant, but the smells alone while passing the made us stop. All of the food was served hot and it was made to order. I tried the coconut shrimp. I have an obsession with coconut shrimp so I am probably harder to impress than the next guy, but these were pretty good. (FYI - My absolute favorite I've ever had was at Coconuts in Hawaii. If you visit, seek those out!) The table made guac was delicious and had just the right amount of lime juice, garlic, and ratio of onions. The chili relleno itself was very cheesey and had an abundance of shrimp. Really hit the spot. The service was top notch and we were able to order right away even though the place was pretty full. This restaurant made me re-think other restaurants that I've given 5 stars because it was even better than most of them. The babyback ribs were the Saturday special served with a cabbage salad, fries, and bread. Great value and very tasty! We also tried the pastor shrimp tacos. They were packed full and very filling. As a surprise they served us 2 tasty quesadillas with 3 different salsas. The restaurant has several different areas for seating and is laid out comfortably. The service was attentive and the waiters frequently checked our needs and satisfaction. This restaurant caters to tourists, but don't let that stop you. There were 12 of us for dinner so that makes it a little challenging for any restaurant. But the service was quite good and everyone was very friendly and they all spoke very good English. There were so many things on the menu that it was hard to pick one, but I picked the Shrimp over Risotto. As you can see by the picture it was beautifully presented, but it was not warm. I definitely would have given us restaurant five if our meals for warm. My husband steak and potatoes were presented on a wooden platter and whisk your vegetables and it looked absolutely delicious, but it was not warm. We shared the crème brûlée for dessert. He was presented in a lovely little ceramic pot but it was just kind of messy I did not have a lot of great flavor, so I wish I would've tried the Flan. The setting is simple quaint and well done close to a downtown Square with lots of fun activities. I would definitely go there again, but with a party of two or four as I'm sure everything would've been presented in perfectly and been warm and delicious. So just because I gave it a four, don't put it on your do not call list as the people were wonderful environment was lovely and the service was Fantabulos! We brought our own bottle of wine which was delicious but then a head one more glass of wine at several that was shared it and I have no idea what I had but it was good! This place was great! I found it on here. I haven been eating meat so we needed a seafood option. This place was perfect Complimentary empanadas were a nice dough was good light and crispy. Tuna tartare- this was good, the fish was marinated in lime so a bit more ceviche style but good. This was served with wonton chips and tortilla chips Chile relleno w/ shrimp- this was amazing. Seasoned well. It came with rice on the side as well. Stuffed with zucchini (no carrots for us) Sea-bass/risotto- this was seasoned well, cooked just right flaky. I just have to say, this was a great place. It looked like any other open air restaurant but in the back, there is an enclosed area that is air conditioned, and a cute little court yard. They sat us promptly once we arrived and we ordered. We ordered the Mexican grill, tortilla soup, ceviche, kids pasta and chicken fingers. They gave us an empanadas platter and a bottle of wine. We also ordered michelada and a margarita. The ceviche was great. 3 different flavors and spice level. The soup was delicious, my daughter ended up having it after trying it. We shared the grill since it was huge. Amazing marrow and 2 different types of steaks. The melted cheese is excellent, had it with tortilla chips. The sausages, I can do without but overall it was great. I would go back when we return to cabo. read more
