We came here for my daughter 17th birthday. She got a New York steak, which she said was very delicious. She said it had flavor and it was still moist even though she likes hers well done. Now I am not a steak person so I wanted to try their mussels but unfortunately they ran out so I got the portobello mushroom burger it was so delicious I was beyond shocked that it was so good. The service was amazing they were attentive and made sure I still had a great meal even though I didn't want steak. It was beautiful inside and outside. The outside had a nice garden area for pictures and the inside was nice and intimate. Pricing was very reasonable for a New York Stake, Burger, Mocktail, Glass of wine and a slice of birthday cake it came out to roughly 70$. read more

Tried this at their new location. The servers were very attentive, and the owner and his wife were friendly and fun to chat with. They have both inside and outside seating in an enclosed courtyard. I was hungry so I tried an empanada filled with sausage and cheese. It was served with a green and red salsa. This whet my appetite for the 14 oz ribeye and I ordered a side of vegetables and a baked potato along with it. The ribeye was a perfect medium rare. The potato had sour cream and seasoning. I ate about half of this but boxed the rest and went for the molten chocolate cake served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Wow, it was all great! Wow! This was our first visit to this place and it didn't disappoint! Service was top notch from the second we walked in. Our waiter "Mark" was so informative, not only of the menu but also the surrounding areas. We started with the charcuterie with cheeses and prosciutto. My husband ordered the ribeye with veggies, it was very good! Cooked perfectly. I got the pork ribs, they had great flavor but were a little tough. My cheesy portobello mushroom was amazing! This restaurant sits off the beaten path with an upstairs view of the street below. Open to air. Blanket offered on cooler nights. Definitely give this place a try! read more

Terrific food in a very nice casual outdoor atmosphere with wood fired grill. Some of the best service we've had in Cabo. Salads are huge! We had the ribeye and it was exceptionally good. Prices are fairly reasonable. Would go back again willingly. Very casual atmosphere. read more

Highly recommend. It was perfectly excellent. 10 out of 5. We loved meeting and getting to know the owners. We loved how personable everyone was. And what a setting - great attention to detail with nice, breezy covered patio - really perfect setting for a meal. We loved the antique lights. Very enjoyable and comfortable. Excellent service and attentiveness from beginning to finish. Drinks were excellent and wine was fantastic. We started with empanadas and polleta cheese appetizer with bread. Bravo. Dishes were lobster, ribeye, picanha, and rack of lamb. I'll be damned if everything wasn't just spot on perfect. Even the baked potato and the grilled vegetables were excellent. We were celebrating birthdays, so we finished a great meal with pecan pie ala mode. Save room for the chocolate martini or an after dinner drink. Absolutely perfect and excellent. Glad we found this hidden gem. I looked up restaurants close to our hotel and La Vaca Tinta popped up. My husband is from Uruguay, so I'm very familiar with Argentina cuisine. I saw provoleta on the menu and wanted to try this place out. Food was great, service was great to match! Makarenko was our server and he was the nicest, coolest guy. We really enjoyed our conversation with him. He suggested items from the menu for us and wine as well. He let me taste the wine before I committed to a glass. Surprisingly, I liked the white Chardonnay. I usually hate oaky chard, especially California chard. However, the Mexican chard was surprisingly good. For appetizers we had the empanadas and provoleta. Both of which I highly recommend! The chimichurri was excellent as was the bread. We had our four year old with us and he had seconds, thirds, and fourths of the bread. For dinner most of us ordered beef, since that is what they are known for - it didn't disappoint! Excellent service, lovely setting and really amazing food. They bring out all the different cuts of meat for you to choose and it is cooked over a charcoal and mesquite wood fire and served in a cast iron pan that maintained the heat. The wine selection was very good and the sides were also excellent. We had a lovely salad that was very fresh and perfectly cooked vegetables as a side with our steak. It's very few and far between that I feel like family, but I will say that when I come back, they will remember me and I will be completely welcome! I feel like I'm the only person in the world that has ever been to this place and it's the best feeling. Macarenko made my banana flambé and holy Jesus was this amazing! He is fantastic! La VACA TINTA is all outdoor seating and on the second floor maybe an 8-10 minute walk from the Mango Deck back towards town. They had some phenomenal specials the night we visited but we went with some of the basics on the menu which were the pork ribs and ribeye! The meat and cheese tray for an app was great and included some juicy olives, grapes and unique cheese! Absolutely loved the stuffed mushroom and the veggies were grilled to perfection! My only suggestion is lose the awkward chat at the end from the bill lady and credit card terminal regarding taking a .48 cent charge off the check if you want to leave an extra one dollar in tip. LOL Cabo folks never cease to amaze me and the little antics they play but I get a kick out of it so go and enjoy and make sure you have that extra dollar if you don't want to pay the forty eight cent charge on your check hahaha! read more

Service was OK and the ambiance rustic. However they had no ribs or burgers despite their menu prominence. Thus I defaulted to their ribeye. I t was done properly but it was not memorable. No wine list so you have to walk over to the bins with their wine steward. Having to ask prices is never comfortable. The sides are so so. Our baked potatoes had a small amount of sour cream and bacon. Not likely to return. read more

We ordered a cheese burger, flap steak, and the prime rib all medium rare. when the meats came out my prime was cooked medium rare but my wifes flap steak was dry and hard and mostly brownish grey, and my sons burger was grey all the way through. So when we complained about the flap steak they confirmed we ordered it medium rare and then asked if we wanted to replace it with something else... but at this point i had split my steak with my wife and my son powered through his burger so the owner/chef came out and looked at the steak and we told him it was over cooked and dry and he walked off and and waiter picked up our plates. Next the waiter brought us the bill for everything even though we couldnt eat the flap steak, to be honest I dont think anyone could, and I told the waiter he was great but we shouldnt have to pay for the flap steak and he said there was nothing he could do about it and well thats it when we come back to Cabo next year, we wont be going to La Vaca Tinta and we wouldn't recommend it to anyone else either definitely a 1 out of 5 stars read more

This unassuming, rooftop restaurant turned out to be the most amazing and enjoyable dinner we've had in Cabo! Walking to the restaurant, we weren't sure if we were in the right place, but then you see a glowing sign that says "STEAK HOUSE" and an entrance lined with wine bottles leading to a flight of stairs. Walk up those stairs and WOW you are transported to the cutest, most quaint little piece of paradise above Cabo. Rooftop dining with lights and Spanish jazz music. Mac was our server and he was kind, knowledgeable and makes you feel like family! He showed us the prime quality cuts of meat they had and the giant, succulent lobster tails available. We decided to go big and ordered the tomahawk steak, bone marrow, and empanadas. First things first, these empanadas are THE BEST empanadas I've had in my life. How do they get the dough so perfectly thin and crispy while holding inside, so much flavor?! Once you take a bite, you'll be in heaven! The bone marrow with their house-made hot sauce.. to die for. The tomahawk steak was cooked to the perfection! It came with this little sizzling skillet of melted cheese and mushrooms and it was so good I could cry and eat 20 more skillets LOL. We truly enjoyed our evening at this magical place. The staff came to check on us and made sure we were happily enjoying ourselves. The ambience was splendid and romantic, meal was delicious, staff was personable like family, and the evening was just perfect. I wish we had found this place sooner!!
