At 3 or 4 euros how can you go wrong? Delicious, inexpensive and possibly "healthy." In fact, you basically hit up all your basic food groups in one meal. Vegetables, meat, grains. There are no chairs in the restaurant so it's basically takeaway only. The guy running the place was friendly and patient while I ordered. He made small talk while he was assembling the shawarma and was happy to talk to me about my travels while he sent a worker to grab change from somewhere down the street. In the end, I came back here two more times during my trip. It was good for a quick filling snack or a light lunch. I wouldn't necessarily go out of my way to find this place but if you're staying nearby and looking for a cheap meal, I would absolutely recommend Istanbul Kebab.

Their selection of beer is great with lots of craft options, including Portuguese crafts and locals. They can serve you in the bar area or tables or you can serve yourself inside and try any of their taps by ml, imperial or pint sizes. We also ordered a few of their Turkish pizzas and you can tell they're homemade and they all tasted delicious. I got to chat with the owner for a bit and he was really nice and passionate about his business. All in all, if you live or are visiting the area, check out Na Medida and enjoy a few crafts with great artesanal pizza.

It tracks that this place is owned by a friendly couple who spent years honing their döner-making craft in Germany. Though there are plenty of hotels on this stretch of Avenida Almirante Reis, I'd usually only see locals eagerly waiting for cheap eats here. (But it's a minute or two away from the Arroios metro station if you have a serious hankering for döner during your time here.) And when I say cheap, I mean it. €3 for a döner? Prices here are lower than the place I frequented in Berlin--which means that you should definitely treat yourself to a side order of the chow mein with your döner. Chow mein? Yeah, I guess Time Out was onto something. Döner Bar is a mouthwatering medley of Turkish, German, Chinese, and Portuguese cuisine.
