Great spot for some fresh seafood! Tried the squid which were indescribably good. Succulent, well…read moremarinated yet light, simple, and just so fresh. We also got the grilled sardines. They were as expected. Generally, seafood isn't cleaned by default (fish bile is not removed, shrimp is not deveined, etc.) so I had to do some cleaning but they were fresh and good too. Very salty, but you can avoid the skin to avoid the salt. Both mains came with a side. Choices were salad, boiled potatoes, or fries. Tried the salad and fries and got some rice as an additional side. Not too pricey either.

I never got to finish this review from our Portugal trip this past Spring…read more We visited the town of Cascais while in Lisbon. Cascais was highly recommended by the hotel concierge and an expat we met while in line at Pasteis de Belem. We decided to search for restaurants that are off the beaten path and luckily came across Melody. It was cozy and had a small outdoor dining area. The menu was pretty expansive and the portions were generous for the price. Since we've had lots of seafood during our trip so far, I asked our friendly and wonderful server for his recommendations on their beef menu. I opted for Bitoque à Melody. This was a generous portion of steak in mushroom cream sauce which was outstanding. My husband ordered Salmão Grelhado, a grilled salmon filet and baby potatoes served with garlic and garlic pepper in a light olive oil sauce. For dessert, server recommended 2 that are popular, but it didn't stand out as much as the savory items.

After two years since our first visit, we came back and enjoyed another great meal here…read more The ambiance and decor was still mostly the same with a vase mor two switched in placement! Table seating was by the front and along one wall with the rest at the bar that dominated the middle of the restaurant. Menu was almost the same with a great selection of seafood ranging from tacos, ceviche appetizers to pasta, fish and shellfish entrees with many Asian flavors. The Peruvian ceviche was very nice with thin slices of fish, radish and red onions. The corn nuts added a nice crunch. It also came with a small bowl of toasted crostini chips. The cuttlefish tacos were delicious.. Big chunks of cuttlefish topped with tomatoes and placed on a small tortilla with a white sauce. We actually ordered just one but comped a pair. Sea bass was the best with its crunchy pan fried skin side topped with nori and the moist fish went perfectly with the barley and miso sauce combination. Even the bok choy was cooked well. The squid ink pasta had a mild sauce but scallops were nicely seared. At the end the owner offered us a shot of ginja to try for our first time. It was sweet but at least lower in alcohol,16%. Another great meal and service even two years later. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting some seafood here in Lisbon.

Peixola had a fantastic atmosphere and excellent service. We arrived about an hour before closing…read moreafter a long evening exploring Lisbon, and the experience started off strong. The music selection immediately gave us a taste of home, with lively R&B playing in the background. The bar wasn't crowded, but there were enough guests enjoying food, drinks, and conversation to create a warm, energetic vibe. Our drinks arrived quickly, and the staff remained attentive, friendly, and welcoming throughout the evening. The service was honestly the highlight of our visit. The shrimp tacos were very fresh...perhaps a little too fresh for my preference. The shrimp had not been fully deveined, so I ended up cleaning them myself before eating. As someone who only eats deveined shrimp and fish, that was disappointing. The codfish entrée was an interesting experience. The cod itself was delicious and fried to perfection with a crisp exterior and flaky interior. Unfortunately, the wasabi mashed potatoes weren't a good match for my palate and overpowered the dish for me. My partner enjoyed the vegetables that accompanied his meal, but he found the sea bass somewhat underwhelming and not particularly memorable. For two people, including food and drinks, our bill came to about €89, which I felt was a moderate price for Lisbon. While the food experience wasn't the strongest part of our visit, Peixola is still a great place to relax, enjoy a drink, listen to good music, and spend time with friends or a partner. The outstanding staff and inviting atmosphere are what would bring me back, even though the food itself left us wanting a bit more.
