Had the brisket with Mac & Cheese. probably the best bbq I've had. very good quality!

the best bbq ive ever had! forced my family to come here and they became just as obsessed (my dad doesnt like american bbq) the first time i came was on a thursday at 6pm they were sold out of everything we wanted, so we knew the hype was legit. on a sunday at 12 we got the big baller plate for 6 adults and 4 young kids. it fed us perfectly with a bit of leftovers, about 280 with tip. the menu is pretty large, meat focused with some veg options and sides. i love how they have daily specials that always change, and update the menu/announce when things sell out to the line. theres a lot of seating and i like how the utensils and to go station is self serve. there are smokers in the back and they offer tours when the pitboys are in the back! i tried to get one today (sunday morning) but the girl said they werent here today but offered one of their line cooks. super sweet but i declined (ill be back anyways haha) my grandma tried to order the fruits with tajin and chamoy, but they were sold out. they ended up giving her whatever they had left (like less than a 1/4 lb container) for free. so sweet! brisket - practically falls apart! never had it like that before. they even offered if i wanted a moister part which was nice. turkey - underrated. i wasnt expecting anything since turkey is usually super mid and dry, but my whole family was super impressed by how tender and flavorful it was. sausage - forgot what flavors we got but they both had a great snap and was soo juicy ribs - good, i personally like saucy baked ribs more esquites - delicious! i think if youre getting meats its better to get the plain one tbh mac n cheese - bomb, we finished this so fast rice - good, no complaints! read more

Pica Rica Barbecue has a good atmosphere, although it was a little too loud for my liking. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing, especially considering the prices. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich for $11, and while the barbecue had good flavor, the portion was underwhelming. There simply wasn't enough meat, and I left feeling hungry after spending that much on a sandwich. The customer service was another disappointment. The restaurant operates more like a self serve establishment, where you get your own water and the staff simply brings the food to your table. However, the checkout process prompts you for a tip, which I find frustrating given the limited table service. Tipping culture has gotten out of control in situations like this. When my food was ready, the employee seemed to have an attitude, possibly because I didn't leave a tip. We weren't even provided with napkins. I don't love BBQ but this place is amazing! All the tables were full and it wasn't even quite dinner time. Did I mention they were sold out of almost everything too? Yeah, it is that good. Let me start out by declaring, "Best BBQ in Utah"! I had the "Texas Trinity": brisket, spare ribs, and sausage. I chose the coleslaw as my side and the platter was dressed up with pickled onions, slightly candied jalapeños, and pickles. They give you one tortilla (house made) but I could have used 3. Brisket was falling apart but not mushy. Smoke in all the proteins was perfect. Coleslaw is creamy but exits with a spicy kick as it goes down. Best ribs I've had in a while. This was one of the best meals I had while visiting Utah. They offer traditional barbecue and they also have a twist on some dishes like burgers, chicken wings. The brisket was my favorite meat here if paired perfectly with those hand made flour tortillas. I would never expect to eat barbecue with tortillas, but it was perfect. WOW !!!! I'm not a big bbq fan but my friends are and our whole party left happy !!! The place was packed on a Saturday we stood in line looking at the menu and as we got closer they had specials of the day including desserts and donuts. Station 1 is the meats (they allow you to sample) . I ordered the chopped taco ( pulled pork) packed with a ton of meat , Mac n cheese ( some of the best I have had) and of course the donut - salted Carmel fried in beef tallow . Arrived just before rush hour which worked out great for us. We ordered Brisket torta and the Double X Platter. Double platter came with ribs, brisket and we chose the Serrano cheddar sausage. For the sides we picked the Mac n cheese and esquite. Serrano cheddar sausage was my favorite. Brisket was flavorful and tender. The ribs had good flavor but I prefer spare ribs. The Mac and cheese were creamy and the esquite lacked some flavor, it was a bit bland for me. Our whole meal plus 2 drinks came out to about $90. This place is casual and big with both inside and outside sitting areas. I've been meaning to try this place for a while. Finally had the chance to come in on a Friday night. It wasn't as busy as I expected which was a plus. We got the double X platter which comes with brisket, ribs, sausage and a side. It also comes with tortillas and an optional pickled onions, jalapeños and pickles. Everything was great. I just do not care for the choice of music, $4 for a small bottle of Mexican Coke, or $7 for a small side of mac n cheese (the container is a generous small I must say & it is sooo delicious!). The music kinda takes away from the experience. It's really geared to HS or Young Adults who honestly can't afford to eat there. Your crowd is definitely older. All is ala cart. I suggest reading the room, and playing music accordingly. This would make a big difference. Oh if you hadn't noticed there is outdoor seating in the back. To start the meat was fantastic. Easily could be an 5* BBQ experience EXCEPT for the customer experience and menu. The options for sides were incredibly limited for anyone, but especially for food allergy families. I shared the platter for 2 and it wasn't enough food for a 10 year old boy and an adult.... 3 slices of brisket, one sausage, and 2 ribs, with 1 side. All for around $60 with tax seems excessive. The experience: I have never been at a restaurant where there are various stops depending on which menu item you want to order. The restaurant was full of confusion and the employees did not control the traffic flow. The food arrival was also flawed since the meal is staggered depending on the order. Like I said we ordered the platter for 2, so we got our entire meal as we went through the line. My daughter and wife got Mac and cheese with pulled pork sandwiches. They got their Mac in the second section of the ordering line and were told to ask for the sandwiches at the register. Someone jumped in front of us confused on the process and should have been at step 1 in the line process.... The employee still took their order letting ours sit and get cold on the counter. After the half lb of meat arrived she decided that wasn't enough..... back to meat cutting requests to get more food. Finally once full filled we got to order our sandwiches which probably took 5-7 minutes for arrival. No big deal waiting, but the rest of the food sat even longer as we waited for the rest of the groups meal to be delivered. All should be ordered at the register and people can deliver the food. Or all should he ordered at the first station..... but how it's done is pure silliness. Confusing and inefficient. Went in on a normal Tuesday at opening, and was told by the Gen Zer that since they're closed on Monday, they only have a limited menu on Tuesdays. She said they had ribs, turkey, sausage and maybe a very limited amount of brisket for tacos. My question is when were these meats cooked? Since they're closed on Monday, I guess all the offerings on Tuesday were cooked on Sunday?? I don't want two day old barbecue; I want barbecue fresh off the smoker. Lunch at Pica Rica was easily the highlight of my weekend. I grew up in south Texas and our meal here hit the spot for what I look for in barbecue, with a bit of Tex Mex flair, too, like having barbacoa, breakfast tacos and chilaquiles (Sunday special, see below). We went in at opening on a Sunday, staff were friendly and the space is stylish with a fun playlist overhead. We ordered the breakfast taco, the Texas Trinity Platter (brisket, rib, sausage, side, tortilla, pickles) with a side of macaroni and added an extra side of beans. The brisket was most anticipated and delivered, with great texture and flavor that didn't need sauce. The breakfast burrito was fantastic, with an ample portion of potatoes, a thick slice of brisket and house salsa topped with perfectly fried egg, all stuffed into the house-made tallow tortilla - $12 and a large portion that I didn't want to share. I'm not really a ribs girlie but the one here was great, very tender - my husband compared it to pulled pork, in a good way. The house habanero cheddar sausage was delayed and came out last, leftovers went well with eggs the next morning. My daughter demolished the sides of beans and macaroni - the mac was nice and saucy without being overcooked and the beans had a great flavor to them. Our meal was around $50 and we ate every bit, left full and happy. They have covered patio seating out back, which was a nice touch. We walked off our meal going down to the park nearby. Appreciate that they're family friendly with a changing table it the bathroom. Looking forward to coming back again next time we pop into STG! Note that they have a specials board for Sunday breakfast/brunch options, including chilaquiles you can add protein too. Will try to time our next visit for another Sunday. read more

Great food, crappy service. High prices. I went there recently and it took forever to get a simple sandwich after being the first one in the restaurant when it opened (late). I had to go to the counter twice and my friend went to the counter as well to see what was taking so long. The employee that we spoke to was rude and offered no explanation as to why the order was taking so long. The staff of this establishment needs to be better trained in how to interact with customers. read more
