Sunday, 5-31-2026: I had seen & heard about this place from family and on TV. This place is huge!…read more They should at least have a couple of Buc-ee's in every state. What a crazy, unexpected concept! They have everything here. It was definitely sensory overload for me. It was crowded with locals & tourists. It's very organized and clean. The restroom was impressively clean. We mostly bought snacks. Love the warm candied nuts like pecans. We left without exploring the entire store due to the crowded conditions. We were checked out quickly by a friendly cashier. Definitely will return.

Since I was already carrying several things, I set the ranch cups and ketchup packets on top of my closed purse while heading to checkout. At the register, I handed over the food basket, ranch cups, pastries, nuts, and everything else. We spent about $75 on snacks and another $60 on fuel. Then the cashier asked, "Ma'am, are you trying to steal ketchup?" I was completely caught off guard. I have never stolen anything in my life and honestly didn't even know ketchup packets were something that had to be paid for. When she asked how many I had, I told her 3 or 4, and I immediately paid for them. There was never any argument or hesitation. It was simply an honest mistake. What made the situation upsetting was how embarrassing it felt to be accused in front of other customers. Maybe there was a sign posted near the hot food section, but I didn't pick up the food myself and never saw it. I just wish there had been a little more understanding, especially considering we had already spent well over $100 in the store. A simple explanation that the sauces were an extra charge would have gone a lot further than making me feel like I was trying to steal. I still love Buc-ee's, but I left feeling embarrassed and disappointed.

This may be the last Buc-ee's we visit as our road trip is nearing its end. It's supposed to be…read morethe largest one but one of the other ones we visited seemed the same size for both the pumps and store. This time instead of exploring their packaged snack products I thought about how much room we have left in our car and flying it home so I decided against it. I did buy 3 of their small cup size Blue Bell dark chocolate ice cream- for all of us but the cashier gave only one spoon. It tasted so good I had hubs go get me a large size one since I didn't eat a normal lunch and it was past 5 pm. While I waited in the car with the grandpup. I wanted to find some Bucee items for Doc since she's been our road trip driver plus made all the arrangements for hotels, tickets to parks, dinner show, etc. We all got different things: hubs got small bags of jerky, Doc got her favorite brisket sandwich to share with her Frenchie, a sausage on a stick and 3 peach cobblers for each of us to try. I like the large amount of clean restroom stalls plus soap. The cone of warmed sugary pecans and cinnamon bites were a sweet snack- finally gone from the first Buc-ee's a week ago. Before leaving Doc had us take a selfie and a nice gentleman also took a couple for us too.

Possibly an unpopular opinion, but... my last visit here was less than satisfactory. We grabbed lunch on our way to Houston. Our lunch consisted of brisket sandwich, chicken tenders & fries, and the three meat sandwich. I'm pretty sure their meat is not a true cut of brisket. Its consistency is like mush, and not like muscle fibers. There was nothing lean brisket vs fatty brisket. The brisket had holes throughout, making it look even more like an ultra processed deli meat or even lab grown. I was disgusted, to say the least. They also have ZERO options for people conscious of the ingredient lists. We bought popcorn and the bag was open at the bottom. I opted the top and it was super stale. I realized it was open on the bottom and the store game me a hard time about exchanging it. It's pretty clear the sealing process failed for this bag. We won't be shopping here anymore, nor will we eat their food. But if you're visiting Texas and come across one, it's a fun stop to pass time.

Just the fancy restaurants and the tourist hotspots which don't really need a review where your review will get lost in a sea of 20,000 others. This place is super cute with a lot of great stuff and fun stuff and I've stopped in here on several occasions when coming to San Antonio, and I'm sure they will come back here on many occasions in the future. And they have the word five in their name so what rating did you think I was going to give them? This store is a dime.

Here is a general store across the street from a site with more than 2,500 photos, almost 1,000 reviews (and an inexplicably low 4-star composite rating) and has a paltry EIGHT reviews and 4 photos (which I'm going to double today). Maybe I just love general stores with the amalgam of touristy stuff, toiletries you forgot to bring, and temptations of the sweet and salty kind. They sum it up best with their motto, "Travel necessities. Hometown setting." First, yes, as you would expect, there is PLENTY of Alamo-related stuff. Neither cheap nor chintzy, there are plenty of Alamo t-shirts, cups, magnets, mugs souvenirs, and other ephemera at prices (at least based on my experience) a bit less expensive than at other establishments. An, if you want to show some Texas pride, there's plenty to buy to remind your friends where you're from and what state not to mess with. And yes, it has the feel with the old-time pharmacy catch-alls, from medicines and ointments to phone chargers and travel bags. The convenience of an airport gift shop without the high prices and drab formulaicness. Five and Dime ain't for the cynic. You'll find the kind of cowboy hats you'd find on a sorority girl at a Saturday night party. You'll find the kind of sombreros you have lying around awaiting the moment when your friend passes out drunk and you can place it on his head and Sharpie a Zapata-style mustache on his upper lip. Yes, there's plenty of humor in the Five and Dime collection! In the end, Five and Dime is a great store for both local and tourist alike. Their hometown philosophy can also be found at their other locations: On the San Antonio Riverwalk, on the Landing in Branson, in Old Town San Diego, Market Street in Charleston, Old Town in St. Augustine (FL), Cannery Row in Monterey (CA), River Street in Savannah (GA), and the Historic Plaza in Santa Fe. All great places, and all where I'll be making a stop at the Five and Dime when I do. See you there!
