MY EXPERIENCE WAS 10/10! They have my business for life…read more Here's why: For a first time renter like me, I appreciate the guidance and expertise that they have. I was thinking of renting a guitar for the first time...and, honestly...I felt that they were really passionate about what they do. They educated me about the instrument, how to properly clean and store it. Although I came in at a busy time, the staff were friendly, very encouraging and they boosted my confidence with the instrument that I'm thinking of renting. When I was inside the store, I was just a bit sad that some families are taking advantage of them, I overheard a family who were entitled for a discount for a repair...when in hindsight, They never bought the instrument at the store in the first place. I guess they just bought a cheaper instrument online and now they realized it's not working properly. The family was so rude to the staff the entire time and demanded the instrument to be repaired immediately. I was shocked. Is this the new norm for the tri valley community? If we don't get want we want, they throw a fit at the store? The staff was still friendly to the family, offered some guidance and gave them some options...but still, it wasn't enough. I praised the staff on handling that situation...that's when I knew, they have my business for life. Anyway, The owner's son helped me set up my guitar...shared some tips, shared some favorite genre of music...they also have a collection of VINYLS! WE NEED THIS IN PLEASANTON!! I would come back here....they have a business for life! SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL BUSINESS!

We started looking but of course it was not so easy because many places were either closed or scheduled by appointment only. However, we connected with Ron at Piano Exchange who was happy to meet us and schedule a private viewing when it was convenient for us. During our visit it was clear that Ron was very good about being Covid compliant and following all protocol. Ron met with us at the Dublin location. He was very welcoming and knowledgeable. He asked a few questions about what we were looking for and showed us around. He was patient, and I never felt pressured or hurried. There were several pianos I was interested in and one that I had fallen in love with, which is now in my home and is everything you would expect when you purchase a Yamaha. Shout out to our delivery guy who was super detail oriented and clearly had high standards. Thank you so much Ron for helping my husband surprise me!

Aftercare is nonexistent. Give you a coupon for piano tuning that never works because the guy never picks up the phone. Forget about reselling your piano to the store, they'll ghost you; but now thinking about it, they do not have customer traffic anyway. Stay away!

We feel incredibly fortunate to have Ms. Liya Ledyaeva as our daughters' piano teacher. As a…read moreparent, there is nothing more rewarding than seeing your children grow under the guidance of a teacher who truly understands, encourages, and believes in them. Ms. Liya is an exceptional teacher and an extraordinary pianist herself. Her knowledge of classical music, attention to detail, and ability to bring out musical expression in her students is remarkable. But what makes her truly special is the way she combines high standards with kindness, patience, and warmth. She knows when to challenge her students, when to encourage them, and how to inspire them to reach a level they may not have realized they were capable of. Under Ms. Liya's mentorship, we have watched our daughters grow tremendously--not only as a pianists, but also in their confidence, musical maturity, and love for music. We love the joy and confidence with which they approach the piano. Both my daughters absolutely adore Ms. Liya, and that relationship between a student and teacher is something very special, and as parents, we couldn't ask for more. We are also very grateful to Pleasanton Academy of Music for creating an environment where young musicians are encouraged and challenged positively. Ms. Liya is truly one of those rare teachers who can make a lasting difference in a child's life. We cannot recommend her highly enough.

The review is for the Academy. Not the teacher…read more Pro: Many teachers to choose from. The director actually recommends the right teacher to our kid that we appreciate. Cons: It bugs me when the schools are cutting corners. It's shocking that they use a demolished site as a recital spot. it's financial savvy of them to have their own recital venue that increase their margin. BUT if the independent piano teacher or tiny schools can pull out a decent recital experiences for students, How can this massive school use a pre-demolished site for recital. It will not get better even if they remodeled as it's just a sad space among all their future classrooms.

Such a pleasure working with Bill and the staff, the selection of violins is incredible and their…read moreassistance to make sure we got the right violin was very helpful If you're looking for a violin or string instrument shop in the Bay Area there is none better!!

We rented here over the 24/25 school year for my daughter to pick up the Viola. The shop owner (at…read morethe time) was swamped with multiple people in the shop since it was the beginning of the year and he had some help. They were fairly helpful coming from someone who knows nothing about orchestral instruments. They had a wide range of instruments late after the local school started which was a bit odd but a sigh of relief for us since it enabled my daughter to play something. They had all the sizes needed in both Viola and Violin so that was good. The shop keeper's daughter helped size my daughter for the right sized viola and we were on our way! Or so we thought. His daughter said we're good but he insisted we get a chin rest for the viola. Repeating the fact that I know nothing about these, I listened and bought a $25 rest. Why? because I thought she needed it. Fast forward 8 months, my daughter NEVER used it. Apparently the rest is for kids who have trouble fitting it. So if you get one that's too big/small it is an intermediary. Problem is, she was sized for the right one! Again, thinking about the end of year, we are there to return and the shop keeper asks if we're going to play next year (in 3months). I tell him yes and he keeps drilling the statement, "It doesn't make sense for you to return. It's a waste of money because of your rental credit" The words rental credit in most peoples' minds would flag a "Oh i don't want to miss out on that money". I asked him to clarify what it was and what it was applied to and he kept insisting I'd be losing out on it. When he realized I wasn't budging on that front, he said that I would have to pay for another fitting fee too when we returned. I asked him how much it was and he didn't really give specifics. I told him we were going to not even touch it for 3 months because of travel and other activities and that I didnt' want to pay the 3 months rental. He kept insisting it's not worth it. He was talking a lot and honestly was confusing me so I said, "Hold on, let's do the math here." His tone changed completely. He realized what was going on and finally started talking straight. The fitting fee was $28... or you could say ONE month. The rental credit? It's in your contract (which you should review) and is a credit of 50% of your rental fees towards purchasing the viola you rented... Let's think about this. You've got a kid who's NOT fitted for a full size. Why on earth would I buy a 3/4 size viola? I told him we're never going to buy and he did the sensible thing of saying "You never know" and he was right. I don't, but I know i'm not buying a 3/4 viola. In the end, I thanked him for trying to "save me money" but told him I'm not interested. I'm not trying to say he was trying to swindle us but he was sure trying to get us to not return it when I made it clear, we weren't going to keep returning. On top of all this, he doesn't have a computer system for the rentals. That's fine in many aspects, just weird. I'd rent from here again since they were helpful and it's reasonably priced, but the return process was like trying to cancel your xfinity subscription
