Joined PHX Fray bowling league a couple years ago and it's been an absolute blast! Everyone is super friendly, fun, and very down to earth. Couldn't have picked a better league to join and would recommend to anyone who's looking to meet some cool people and unwind on a week night. Also big shout out to our commissioner Brennan who has really taken the league to the next level. He's always keeping the website up to date with the latest standings, sending out weekly reminder emails, and makes sure everyone is enjoying themselves. read more

Response - 1) my message was sent because those players were added without notification of any team members. Lucky I even saw it before the league started. Therefore, it was impossible to actually bring up the issue before registration ended. 2) Your rule is the issue. Hypothetically you can have a team of 8 players (not your full 9) and then have a group of 3 added for a total of 11 as highlighted by Mr Mitchell as being the maximum cap. 11 people for a 6 v 6 is the issue. It's that simple You say this limits forfeits which is a lame excuse considering you actually have a pretty decent sub system. Having a large team is not accommodating the group of three, it's just a way to have more players in the league to make more money. Go to a game and watch. Tell me sitting on the sideline is fun. Once again. Go somewhere else. Better leagues for half the price. read more

Terrible. $85 to play in a 6 V 6 volleyball league and they added 3 players to our 7 player squad to have a total of 10 players. 10 players in a 21 point rally score volleyball league is insane. Cutting everyones playing time in half. Then when questioned, they were unwilling to spread out the free agents to all of the other teams as if the teams are set in stone before the season even starts. Save your $85 and play in a league that values playing time rather than their bottom dollar. read more

I have had the best time playing in a Fray league. No one talks about how hard it is to make friends as an adult, and it's so nice to have an activity to facilitate meeting new people. I joined as a free agent and now have teammates that have turned into life long friends- all because of a bean bag toss. The volleyball tournament felt like a family reunion. I was interested in joining a social sports league as a way to make new friends and do something active, and decided to join PHX Fray in a kickball league in 2019! I've played 4 different kickball seasons with Fray since then, and have had an absolute blast and made SO many new lifelong friends in the process. Anyone know who knows me would tell you that I am comically uncoordinated and far from athletic (lol kickball in your 30s is especially comical and injury-prone), but the great thing about PHX Fray is that there's something for everybody! While it can be competitive at times (hey, who does't love some competition), it's simply a social league intended to have fun, regardless of athletic abilities. That being said, my team has been the league champions of 2/4 of the seasons that we've played together! The league is very organized. Schedules and updates are communicated via email, so that everyone is always in the loop. If you're new to the valley and are looking for a fun way to meet people, I'd definitely recommend PHX Fray. read more

Spent a handful of seasons in the skeeball league at Little Woody and it was the highlight of my week, every week. Everybody is there to have fun and, while the league is competitive, nobody takes it too seriously. The season ends on a high note the with the championship bracket, culminating in the championship game followed immediately by the illustrious Toilet Bowl. As a champ of the inaugural Toilet Bowl game, I have to say that it's the best game of the season, by far. All that said, the league wouldn't be what it is without Brennan running the ship. He is not only running the league extremely well, but he's also incredibly, frustratingly good at skeeball. read more

Since the majority of the people in it were new to the sport, the host Brennan walked us through how to throw and celebrated the first couple bullseyes with some drinks. You could really tell he cared about everyone having fun and also kept it competitive which I loved. Finishing up a kickball season and will not play another season. $70/person gets you no real umpires (you're required to volunteer as a ref for other teams), and crappy uneven fields. They say the money covers the beer license but you're telling me there's none left over to pay a couple of high school or college kids to ref 2 hours a night? They also changed the rules a few games into the season creating even more confusion. Games don't start on time, which really sucks when you're playing the 9 pm game (I'm old, and it's already past my bedtime). Compared to other leagues I've played in (albeit not for kickball), it just seems like you don't get much for your money here. read more

We recently signed up for Kickball at Encanto Park. You pay your 65 dollars and you get excited for organized sport. What you actually get is a field made out of cones with no backstop. You also don't get an umpire or real referees. This hardly checks the boxes for organized anything. CHAOS. The "refs" are sourced from other teams. These people apparently also act as the scorekeeper and statistician. What this translates to is people glaring at their phones as they miss important calls. They are inconsistent, gruff, and disinterested. To clarify, they do not even know our names so they could not possibly be keeping our personal stats. If this is the case they should source another player to keep score who is not also trying to ref. An umpire would also be nice. We are constantly asking the clueless refs what the score is and the batters count. A simple signal for foul or fair would also be nice instead of people sprinting like fools because no ref ever indicates. (I've also seen more than 6 injuries in the first two weeks.) When there is a grievance with the officiating you are chided and told to never question them. The only paid representative of this ragtag circus is also quick to remind you that, "You are a 30 year old playing kickball so calm down." It is always nice to be invalidated by the person whose salary you are helping to pay. Overall, you are paying for a t-shirt. Besides meeting some nice people, the majority of teams are just people who want to drink and sit on the grass for which you could probably start a league and sell tickets for 75$. You predators. Unprofessional, unorganized, unworthy of calling it a league. I've seen better pick up games. The drinking aspect is probably what makes this all worse. Sadly, a lot of the "players" are there simply there to get whatever drink specials they get at 'Angels' which is the after event. On top of that, it is always concerning to watch people drink heavily for 2 hours and then immediately walk to the parking lot and start up their cars. So as a disclaimer for any potential innocent people enjoying the park, watch out for drunk drivers on Tuesday nights! read more

If you want to play in a fun and truly social league, definitely steer clear of Fray. This all starts at the "top" and Nathan runs the league terribly. He never shows up in person to help explain any situation that arises which is very uncharacteristic for a league sport. When any issue is brought to his attention, he either ignores the comment or takes incorrect actions which screw players over. I have never been threatened by a league but Fray went there. The league hired a terrible ref who would get in players faces as if to fight them if they disagreed with any of his calls. Again, when this was brought to Nathan's attention, nothing was done to resolve it. They say this is a "social" league, what that means is they can take any action with impunity, hire the most offensive ref I have ever been around, and have a very vague idea as to what the rules of the league actually are. This isn't coming from someone who had an issue with anyone else on any team in the league. This is coming from someone whose team was super well-liked and respected by other teams in the league. Fray is horribly managed which makes the games a lot less fun. If you are looking for a better league to play in, I suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Three seasons in and I am having a blast!! Skeeball Thursdays are the highlight of my week. I have gotten to know PHX Fray employees and other people who have been playing since the leagues started two years ago. The leagues are organized, everyone is friendly, and customer service has been beyond phenomenal. I have met fellow Nebraskans that are extremely kind - it's like a piece of home here in Phoenix! The Volleyball crowd is super fun - I have socialized with them outside of Skeeball as well. We enjoyed Christmas in July last night at the Little Woody and it was sooooo fun! So many costumes! For fun, friends and like-minded people, go with Phoenix Fray! read more

The leagues are unorganized, inconsistent, and the customer service is lacking! Consumer Beware. I have played in two coed sports leagues here in the Valley and a couple in other states. When I read there was a new league in town if figured I would check them out. I hadn't heard positive things about the football league and yet I decided to try it out after all. I read the rules for their flag football league 3 times over and was left with a few specific questions, so I emailed the league owner.  The response I received was "the majority of your answers can be addressed by reading the leagues rules". My questions were so specific it was obvious that I had read the rules. After that abrasive response, I informed Nathan that I had read the rules multiple times and I asked if there is someone from the league who DID have time to answer my questions.  I later discovered receiving clarification didn't matter because the rules changed seemingly weekly. Additionally, this is the only football league I have ever played in that doesn't enforce no short pockets. They only discourage pockets... There were a few broken fingers on the field.   One week, my team played during the last hour block and all the games were running behind for whatever reason. The delay in the start of our game lead to the field lights turning off on us during the last minute and half of the second half of the game. After discussing for about 5 minutes in the dark the with league coordinator, my team, and the opposing team all agreed that we would play the last minute and a half the following week and then record the score. The following day we received an email from the league owner explaining we won't be permitted the opportunity to play the last minute and a half, THAT WE HAD PAID FOR, but instead said he would record the score as it was when the lights went off. WTF?? Our team had been undefeated up until that point and we were very confident we would have won that game as well. Furthermore, I have a problem with any company who is willing to take customers money and then not give them what they paid for. Their website states all games consisted of two 20 minute halves and that was not what we received. Do to the company's deplorable business practices, I asked for a refund of the registration fee I paid for the next football season. I had purchased them just the day before we were informed this business does not follow through on their promises. I will not line the pockets of a business that does follow through on their obligations. It took 6 weeks and 3 reminders to receive my refund. I thought I was going to have to resort to disputing the charge with my bank.   One night I had the opportunity to speak with the league owner in person at the fields and he had zero customer service skills. He was acquainted with who I was because he recalled our email correspondence without prompting. You would think any owner would use this opportunity to receive constructive feedback but instead I was brushed off and unheeded. If you want to play in a football league that is organized, has great customer service, wants to avoid preventable injuries, has an inviting atmosphere, and a field that is NOT CONSISTENTLY MUDDY from irrigation... look elsewhere. There are a couple other great coed leagues in the Valley. Notice the company responded to my review and confirmed everything I reported. More than half of their reviews are from people affliated with the company. Finally, if I were man I would not be called aggressive I would have been called athletic. Fray's poor customer service is blatantly obvious. read more

I've had a really good experience with Phx Fray. I did their golf clinic and their underachievers run and both were a lot of fun. I initially found out about them after researching a good way to have employees where I work have access to different sports leagues. Phx Fray was a really good answer. I was surprised that there was even a pretty good mix of age groups at the run. So far, they've definitely exceeded my expectations. Looking forward to more events. read more

DO NOT PAY FOR THIS LEAGUE!!! First, everything posted by Yolanda E below is 100% accurate. There is no communication by the league director and if there is, it is like you are talking to a brick wall as they do not listen to any FEEDBACK you try to offer. I have played two seasons, the first of which was during the inception of the league. My team was approached to give feedback as we have played in multiple leagues all over the country, but again talking to a brick wall. And "verbal abuse towards the ref"? Come on, if he gets looked at the wrong way he throws a flag. It was to the point that nobody could ask him what down it was. Literally, he would ignore some of our players when they did so. There is also nothing social about this league, ZERO. So don't let that fool you that you will sign up to meet people. This is a competitive league with piss poor organization, communication, and officiating. If you want to play football, meet people, and have fun at the same time, there are 2 other leagues around that valley that have their stuff together and can offer this. The only positive reviews for this organization came from people associated with the leagues and someone who is sleeping with the organizer. And no other consumers will post a real review because Nathan will kick them out of the league! Way to be open to feedback guys. read more

$850 for a 6 week kickball league is expensive for what you get. The "field" is an uneven, hard clay/grass surface on the side of a building. There are no umpires. Teams who are not playing are scheduled to go to the game before or after to officiate. The "bar deals" from the sponsored bar are the normal prices. There are 16 pages of rules and are very strict. The organizers are oddballs. Will look into better organized leagues next season (funcalicious is a great intramural organization if looking) read more
