Skylanes is a cool and fun bar here in the Scottsdale area. I came here with a large group for a private party. We were able to get here a little bit early so we're able to get some of the food that was out already. The guacamole was very good and all the different types of tacos we're great as well. Great mix of food and entertainment here and it was a great place to come to. The bar has a good selection of drinks and along the bar there were two dart boards, a big connect four set up, a small pool table an air hockey table. And also to basketball arcade setups. There's also a video golf game that wasn't on at the time but I think he eventually got it up and running. It's been a lot of time at the basketball game and it was fine. Then on the bowling side of things there were a couple of lanes and that was fun as well. I went to a lot of bars during my weekend in Scottsdale, and they were all the exact same. You wouldn't know which one you're in unless you look at the televisions, and each bar has the same amount which is like 500, to see the name. But this place was different, and it was fun! We were at one of the other bars on the street, couldn't even tell you which, when my friend asked if I would like to go bowling. Always a yes! It seemed our group already had lanes reserved, though I don't know the process of booking as I think I hopped into an already existing reservation. It's just fun. The lights, music, frequent and friendly service, it was all just really fun. It really meshed the bar scene with a fun bowling alley. If you are unable to get a lane, I imagine the vibe in the bar would be the same as all of the others, but if you are able to get a lane you'll have a great night! read more

Tonight my domestic partner and I went to Sky Lanes to meet with a straight friend and his date who was visiting from out of state. We got separated in the line to get into this establishment, our friends made it through the line about 10 minutes before we did. They texted us there was $20 cover to get in the door per person. When we finally got to the identification check point the doorman informed us that the cover was now $40.00 "per gentleman" coming into the club at this hour, it was the same hour as our friend that came through the door 10 minutes before. Our cover was going to be $80.00 to get into the door. We did not pay the price hike. This would have been our first time at Sky Lanes. We really hope that this had nothing to do with us being a gay couple. This ruined our plans with our friends. read more

I came to this place for six weeks of corporate league bowling not only are the pins set an on strings like puppets which makes your bowling in accurate but the lanes aren't even official length it's like kids bowling not corporate league bowling in addition to this they knew they were about to have their doors filled with people for summer season league bowling yet they never posted a disclaimer to let leaguers know that if they brought their own bowling ball that it would be damaged due to the mechanism they installed to fix their ball retriever system they knew their retriever system was damaging balls yet they never posted anything to say that if you bring your own ball you bowl at your own risk several of the players have had their personal bowling ball completely destroyed and this place will do nothing to fix it nor will they do anything to correct the awful experience when I tried to complain they didn't care one bit talk about horrible customer service Not to mention the last time I was there, The men were complaining that the men's bathroom door was locked the whole time and when they finally got in there there was cocaine in the bathroom so when I mentioned this is a nightclub it's certainly reflects‍ The most dishonest place I've ever been to...shame on the owner and the management I have to finish this season so we get our money's worth that my company paid to participate in this league bowling...but after this I will never step foot in this place again!!! read more

Great concept but poor execution. At first glance this place looks amazing. Sleek, hip, fun, we were excited about trying it out. Making a reservation was easy and we were able to start right at our reservation time. The waitress approached us for drinks as soon as we sat down to change our shoes. After getting set up and entering our information, we got through 2 bowlers before we encountered issues. The pins would not re-stack. After 10 minutes of attempting to repair it, we were told to continue bowling but still had the same issue. We were about 20minutes into our hour reservation (which costs $60/hr plus shoe fees) and we hadn't even finished a full frame. We also hadn't seen our waitress back with our drinks yet. We decided we were done, and informed the hostess who was less than helpful. You would think they would offer to move us to a different lane, or at least apologize, but they seemed they couldn't care less. The hostess just informed us that she doesn't handle the lane fees it's not her job, we would have to take it up with our waitress. Our waitress finally arrived with our drinks, which we enjoyed out on the patio. She was pleasant enough, but she did charge my buddy for a $25 gin when he didn't specify what kind he wanted. I guess that's his fault for assuming he would get the well gin. Any way cool looking place, could be fun if they get the mechanical issues fixed. And better customer service would be nice read more

This is the first time I've ever been here and it's beenGREAT. Jaylen, sorry for the spelling if it's wrong, is amazing. She corralled a big group of misfits into the bowling alley to have a great time. She kept up on us to make sure we were always happy and had what we needed. If this was the standard then every bowling alley would be thriving. She, singlehandedly, made our entire experience a blast. I had the opportunity to attend a small group function last night at Skylanes in Scottsdale and what a great place to hold a networking event! It's just the right size bar area with 6 bowling lanes adjacent to the bar. The food provided at this event came from the the restaurant downstairs....chicken on skewers (perfectly spiced and cooked), mini chimes and pollo fundido (delicious), seared ahi tuna tacos...but the tortilla was actually very thinly sliced jicama which was a surprise, but really good as well. The staff was all over us, making sure we had enough to drink, enough to eat and helped us set the teams up for bowling. The lanes have really cool images projected onto the floor which looks cool, but makes it difficult to see the arrows on the lane...but this isn't a tournament place so have fun! Also, another cool thing is the pins are actually reset by lines...kind of like candlestick bowling (imagine a puppet on a string) so it's kind of cool (it doesn't take much to amuse me) to see the pins dancing around. The ball return....watch your hands man. Seriously that's the only "problem" with this place. The ball hits the rack so fast, that I seriously am waiting to hear about some person getting their hand crushed...but again, at the same time I was amused at how violent the ball would return to the rack. Parking is also a potential issue, but its not the fault of Skylanes....it is downtown scottsdale after all! Great place, I would highly recommend it to anyone! read more

What a cool concept!!! The night life PLUS bowling!? Had so much fun and it was so much fun with a group of people. Bowled for a couple hours and got drinks at the bar but also have the option to do bottle service. Definitely was laughing and smiling the whole time, I will forsure be back and it's definitely a great place to go with a good group of friends! Great idea, poor execution. We were excited when first walking in; the place has a nice ambiance and cozy feel. Drinks aren't cheap, but expected for the area. The appetizers our party ordered were also better than expected. However, from here it starts going downhill. The lanes leave a ton to be desired. First off you can't bring your own ball because the machines will supposedly destroy them. Also the pins are on strings?? I have never seen this before and am not a fan at all. The lanes don't appear to be waxed on a regular basis and we're allowed to wear our own shoes - I also have never been anywhere I was allowed to bowl in tennies. As the night wore on, we somehow teleported to Las Vegas and our waitresses suddenly lost all their clothes. In the future I may have a drink with friends if they're already here, but won't come for bowling. TL;DR: This is a bar first, bowling alley third. read more
