Dinner in Honolulu, Hawaii... My friends and I wanted to try Phuket Thai Café in the Kaka'ako area where parking is challenging. They remembered that this well-known restaurant used to be somewhere else... However, with the current parking challenge, it's still a popular spot with lots of takeout orders. Customers park right in front, run inside, and grab their orders. We actually parked across the street and down the block for free. Many eyes in the car help to look for signs, tick marks on the ground, meters, etc. Inside, the restaurant seemed dark and had a minimalistic vibe. It was almost like a warehouse feel with a tall ceiling. Service was efficient and polite. We got the pad see ew, yellow curry with sticky rice, and fried chicken as recommended by the waiter. I'm not a chicken person, so, when I say that it was good fried chicken... yeah. Pad see ew and yellow curry were okay. I think the parking situation would still be an obstacle for me to return. What do you think?

This restaurant is always on my mind. They serve delicious Thai food across the board. The Pad Tiew is a must-try, and the crispy Thai chicken is outstanding. It's BYOB, so we usually bring a couple of beers and keep it casual.

One of the best Thai places on island! I've ordered from this place plenty of times but have only ordered takeout as it's near my office. However, the dining area is immaculately clean and well-lit, and the woman that runs the counter is so sweet! You can order takeout either via phone or online; I personally order through Uber Eats with the pickup option so I can pay online and just pick up upon arrival. I've tried half of the menu at this point, including spring rolls, fried chicken, pad see ew, green curry with sticky rice, and the pad Thai. Everything is delicious and so flavorful. This visit, I ordered the pad thai with medium spice and it was SO good. For those that like to have a glass of wine with their food, the pad thai pairs extremely well with a Riesling, just trust me on this. Restaurant is located in Kakaako on the corner of Cooke and Queen. There's street parking up and down Cooke st as well as on Kawaiahao.

Decided to order takeout after the gym for dinner since Phuket thai is right down the road. Ordered my food around 5:30pm & it took about 10-15 min for it to be ready. I ordered the pad see ew & it was delicious. Since it was early still, the restaurant was pretty empty, but it seem pretty spacious. I would come back again to try dine-in sometime!

This Restaurant is A Blessing! The food Here is Delicious! You can ask to not have any MSG added in the fried rice dishes and the Pad Thai noodles. After a long busy day, this place is The Best! They are clean, friendly, and kind, definitely added to Favorite places to eat. We order to takeout and they include napkins and forks.

Phuket Thai was & still is my wife's favorite Thai Restaurant on the Island. We moved back to the Mainland in 2012, and ever since then she speaks of her favorites at Phuket. Upon returning to island she panicked at first since she could not find at previous location. Thank God she found new location as most of our favorites have been disappointing, Phuket Thai Cafe did not, still as good as ever. Each dish she selected was amazing, completely happy & full.

First time visiting this location! All the menu items were pretty reasonable compared with other Thai restaurants! Portion of dishes are generous. We enjoyed long rice noodles salad with calamari and Panang curry with shrimp! It's BYOB!! Definitely come back soon!

Ordered takeout, while it did take quite a while, it was 100% worth the wait. Chicken satay was flavorful, perfect amount of seasoning and sauce, comes with dipping sauce. Green papaya salad was great! Wish I had gotten medium or a step up from mild as it was not spicy at all. I played it safe, we got it Laos style and it was perfect, good crunch, good size and good price! Tom yum soup came with an adequate amount of seafood, broth was great and was tangy. Definitely top of my list. Only complaint was the side of sticky rice was very hard. Maybe because we ordered close to closing time? (Didn't know) Good price for everything!

I haven't been to Phuket since they were at McCully Shopping Center many years ago so it was a big change to see this very non upscale location on Cooke Street near Queen. There aren't many tables so we were lucky to find one without reservations on a Friday night. Despite the constant packages of takeout food being brought out and picked up, we were able to order our food pretty quick. I did learn a lesson about the amount of heat there is in the "medium" Panang Curry dish. I was the brave one to try the curry first, since I ordered it. To say it was spicy is an understatement. Fire breathing dragon was how my mouth felt. Thankfully, our server felt sorry for us and took the dish back and gave us a mild version, which was much, much better. We were all happy with our selections, with the crispy eggplant being the big hit of the night. We'll be back - guaranteed.

Yumm! We're lucky to have Japanese, Vietnamese and Thai restaurants next to each other in our neighborhood.

We were en route to enjoying a late afternoon walk as we passed by Phuket Thai Café when my husband suggested eating before going for a walk. It was around 4:30 PM, and I quickly checked Yelp for Phuket Thai Café's business hours and luckily found they were open, unlike many restaurants with split shifts between lunch and dinner service. We walked into the clean, empty, and sparsely decorated restaurant, and a smiling female worker cheerfully greeted us in the Thai language, "Sawasdee kha," and motioned to sit anywhere. She quickly brought us menus, eating utensils, and glasses of iced water while asking if we wanted any other beverages to drink. Since this was the first time we've been into this less-than-year-old restaurant location but have enjoyed their food at their former location on Queen Street, it didn't take us very long to select our menu items. We ordered only three menu items while keeping in mind that we were going to take a walk afterward. Our server transcribed and repeated our order before taking the order sheet into the kitchen. FOOD: - Thai Fish Patties or Tod Mun Pla: these spongy and springy disks of puréed fish are packed with traditional Thai flavors such as Thai red curry paste, fish sauce, fresh lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, chilies, and coriander leaves. This appetizer was served with a sweet chili dipping sauce. We enjoyed the textures, presentation, and traditional flavors we tasted while traveling in Thailand. Also, the fish patties are commonly found at Thai street food vendors and restaurants. Still, we only ate them at restaurants because our American digestive systems weren't accustomed to street vendors, so that we couldn't compare the flavors between street food vendors and restaurants. $14.50 - Green Curry or Kaeng Khiao Wan with Shrimp: we selected the Thai green curry, which, by its nature, is the spiciest when compared with red, yellow, massaman, or paneng. Thanks to the addition of coconut milk, the tangy green curry is also sweet and not fiery. The vegetables (eggplant, fresh basil, lemongrass, and lime leaves), shrimp, green curry, and coconut milk were like a symphony of sweet, sour, spicy, and salty. $16.95 - Drunken Noodles or Pad Kee Mao with Pork: what can I say? I love Asian broad flat rice noodle dishes, and Pad Kee Mao is similar to Cantonese dry-fried Shahe noodles or chow fun. However, pad kee mao differs in its spice-level and its use of basil, chopped peanuts and garlic. Huge kudos to the chef at Phuket Thai Café who has control of the wok-frying heat as the broad rice noodles were lightly charred but remained soft and unbroken. $14.95 - Rice: we asked for two bowls of rice to accompany the green curry however, our friendly server suggested to order just one bowl since their portion size is generous and easily shareable for two people. We were pleasantly surprised by the amount as we're used to seeing rice served in 4-1/2" bowls but not here! $3.00 Although we were the only customers dining in at the time, the server fielded and processed several phone-in takeout orders before another server arrived at 5 PM. More customers came in at 5 PM but we had the restaurant to ourselves for about a half hour while enjoying a short conversation with our server and her friendliness and efficency. We left the restaurants with satiated appetites and smiles on our faces. After all, Thailand is called the "Land of Smiles."

Their restaurant is so cool tho. Upon walking in, you sign in if needed, wait to be seated. As you walk in, there's a pretty decor, I would say photo opp, but there's a table and stuff blocking. They should clear that area, so people can take pictures with it lol but when you get seated, you walk through, and they take you to the back for outdoor seating. There is no indoor seating. They have the commercial tents, and pretty outdoor decor out there too, like lights and stuff. And there's a koi pond. Bathroom is back there. The only sucky part is if it was to rain hard or have strong winds, I wonder how they deal with that. But make sure you go when it's nice weather. It's BYOB!! They have a good amount of seating too. Our go to for Olay's is the Lao style papaya salad. We eat it with chicharon, and I think they have option to order a side chicharon, but we were prepared and went store before heading over to buy bag chicharon and they allowed it for us instead of spending the same amount for a handful, you get more when you BYOBC - bring your own bag chicharon lol I just made that up. If it's BYOB, I'm sure they'll allow it. We eat that with sticky rice. Omg so bomb. I like to get the stuffed chicken wings, we ordered the calamari. Was good. We got yellow chicken curry. The wife wanted to try the beef jerky, she likes it. We take the sticky rice and roll it in to a ball, and dip it in the bagooong papaya salad sauce and even the curry. Eat it with the papaya salad and stuffed chicken!! Omg so good! One thing I forgot to mention, they are located in the heart of Chinatown, on hotel street, so you gotta find parking. Street parking or pay for public parking. Would we come here again, definitely! 10/10 recommend. Check out Olay's for your Lao food fix!

The beef was tender, and the heat level was just right (spicy but still balanced). So good over rice. The chicken panang curry was rich, creamy, and comforting. The curry sauce had that slightly sweet, nutty depth with just the right amount of spice. The chicken was tender, and the sauce was honestly spoon-worthy. We also ordered the summer rolls, which were fresh and light -- packed with crisp veggies and herbs. Dipped in peanut sauce, they were the perfect refreshing starter before the richer dishes. And Peter was a great waiter -- friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without hovering. Service definitely elevated the experience. Everything tasted fresh and well-executed. This, however, will probably be my first and last visit. The place is cute enough, with a large back garden area where I chose to dine. Service was also great. I appreciate the little button at the table that I could click for service. The food, however, was mediocre at best. My friend and I ordered the pad Thai with tofu, ginger chicken, chicken satay, and pork larb. The pad Thai was the best dish, but it was very tomatoey, which I did not expect. The chicken with ginger had very little chicken. It was mostly julienned vegetables, including celery which I do not care for. The chicken satay was kinda dry and most certainly needed the peanut sauce to make it palatable. The larb was very dry with very bland flavor, served on one lettuce leaf and a wedge of cabbage. How am I supposed to eat that? All of it was quite disappointing, especially for the price point. As I was eating this meal I remembered the Thai food truck at the end of Ward, where Fisherman's Pier used to be. Now THAT was some good Thai food. I guess that was the best thing about this meal-remembering where I could get really good Thai food-so that the next time I'm having a craving, I can go back over there...I hope it's still there.

The total matched, and we tipped on our own. No one added anything extra without asking. If this had been our first time, we probably would've assumed gratuity was automatically included and not thought twice about it. When we brought that up, the waitress suddenly acted like she didn't understand us, even though she had been communicating perfectly fine before. She walked away and got another staff member, who told us tipping is optional and then in a rude tone, asked, "So what do you want to do?" We still tipped in the end because we know service jobs aren't easy, but the whole situation just felt icky. Like how could you try to scam your own customers? Definitely left a bad impression, and it looks like others have had similar experiences if you look at the 1& 2 stars reviews. Makes me wonder how many people this has happened to without knowing.
