Spent a very educational and eye-opening weekend with ITTS' new class, Tactical Concepts. This…read morecourse filled a critical gap in my firearms proficiency - bridging the space between pure marksmanship and real-world application. The class provided structure, guidelines, and valuable considerations on when to use lethal force, how to apply it effectively, and how to do so while minimizing collateral risks and maximizing the chances of prevailing in court (especially important here in California). Most importantly, it emphasized how to carry yourself in a way that reduces the likelihood of ever needing to deploy lethal force in the first place. For context, I have a competitive shooting background and am confident in my ability to put accurate rounds on target quickly - both in a square-range and more dynamic settings. My weakness? Applying that skill in real-world situations. Marksmanship is just one side of the coin. Tactics - the knowledge of how and when to employ that marksmanship - is the other. This class helped tie those two sides together, showing how to maximize survivability during an incident and in the post-incident aftermath involving law enforcement, prosecutors, jurors, and the inevitable Monday-morning quarterbacks. Looking forward to ITTS creating Tactical Concepts 2 and 3... Highly recommend for anyone who wants to take their skills beyond just hitting the target.

The range officer, James, was rude, unprofessional, and used profanity while interacting with customers. There is no excuse for treating paying customers that way. After my target frame broke while I was shooting, James ordered me to retrieve the broken frame. I complied, but afterward I reviewed the posted range rules and could not find any rule stating that customers are responsible for retrieving broken target frames. My issue isn't with following reasonable instructions--it's with being spoken to disrespectfully and being expected to follow what appeared to be an unwritten policy. If retrieving broken target frames is an official requirement, management should clearly post it instead of leaving customers to be confronted over it. After reading other reviews, I noticed multiple customers describing similar experiences with the same range officer. It makes me wonder whether customer feedback is actually taken seriously, because the same complaints seem to have been raised repeatedly. Safety is critical at any shooting range, but professionalism and respect are just as important. I hope management takes these concerns seriously and addresses both the behavior of its staff and the lack of clear communication regarding this policy.

We met up with him at Angeles shooting range and he gave my family a very generous 2 hour private lesson. All levels of gun experience were represented so he went through basics, got us all speaking the same language regarding gun safety and then taught us to shoot our guns his way. Wow! It was like magic. In one lesson we were hitting the center consistently. It was really impressive the way he broke it down to the simplest mechanics and was able to get such great results with each of us regardless of our experience level. Aside from being a consummate professional regarding guns and training he also was a helluva nice guy. Plus he had a perfect voice for firearms instruction. I know it's weird but on a gun range it's loud and people are wearing earplugs. A clear authoritative voice that cuts through the clamor to keep me focused is an asset I appreciated. I will definitely be taking some of his group classes in the future and recommend On The Level Firearms Instruction enthusiastically to you :)

He does his instruction out of Angeles Shooting Range which is amazing. Larry taught me how to use a new hunting rifle and scope that I have never used that I impulsed bought in the excitement of my first hunting trip. Although I have experience in sidearms and shotguns I have never fired or operated a nice hunting rifle and scope. As I was on a timeline I asked Larry if I could get some private instruction. He offers it and boy was I glad. He not only taught me how to use my hunting rifle but also how to properly zero in my scope and also checked its mounting. the rifle I bought was a .308 caliber so he brought his .22LR rifle so he could properly instruct me on how to operate my new firearm. I will never forget what he said, "If I learn to shoot properly and with the basics using the .22LR I can apply this to the larger caliber rifles and it will work!" Oh Boy was he right. He took the time and patience to teach me how to breathe, properly pull the trigger, check meld EVERYTHING! Even some things like websites regarding ammunition velocity etc that were way over my head for a beginner. Needless to say I was very happy with his instruction and I went on my hunting trip. I employed everything Larry taught me and I was able to hunt my first Deer. I will never forget the experience as it was perfect and it was made perfect because of Larry's instruction. I took one shot and it was a perfect kill shot. The shot was so good the Hunting guide was so impressed that a city slicker did so well at such a distance. I thought he was kidding but when other more experienced hunters came back and they had missed their shots with their fancy guns I knew my guide was not kidding! And I also knew that what Larry had taught me in two hours of private instruction will stay with me for the rest of my life. If fact much of what he taught me I pass on to my friends which Larry told me is what makes this instruction invaluable. I even went out and purchased my own Remington .22LR takedown to practice as much as I can the things he taught me I cannot wait to take his other classes and have more private instruction from him. My instruction and hunting trip was back in June and I am just writing this now because I find it very important to let him know and everyone that wants to know how good this guy and his firm is. now that I have written it I can sleep better at night!! It was a full 2-day, 16-hour program, but the team did an excellent job making it both comfortable and enjoyable from start to finish. The training facility itself is clean, well-organized, and comfortable, which made a big difference during a longer course like this.   Their attention to detail really stood out. Everything was explained clearly, and they made sure everyone fully understood the material - not just to pass, but to be responsible and confident moving forward.   Big thanks to Bo, Mike, and Luis - all three are extremely knowledgeable, skilled, and professional. They bring real-world experience and create an environment where you feel comfortable asking questions and learning.   Also, a nice bonus... they provided lunch on day two, which was a great touch and shows how much they care about their students.   Overall, top-notch training and a great experience. I'd absolutely recommend Southwest Training Center to anyone serious about getting their CCW done right, or any other firearms or medical related training.

Great culture they have there - everyone is pleasant to deal with and everyone is having fun while dealing with the seriousness of handling firearms like the pros that they are. My first exposure was to Yamin and although I didn't necessarily meet her, she was super duper helpful both on the phone and via emails. She's on it! Thank you, Yamin! Basel (unsure of spelling) was an excellent instructor for both the classroom and the practical range time. He kept the atmosphere of the class engaging and upbeat despite some of the lengthier material. Humorous and he knew his stuff. I only got to hear Luis speak to the class for a small portion but he is definitely knowledgeable about gun laws as well. Did not get to see him at the range unfortunately. There was another gentleman there that I didn't get his name but he was very helpful with tips to improve my grip. At the range, I watched the instructors, Bo and Mike, encourage an older woman who was a novice to guns and she was slightly nervous as she was having trouble manipulating her fireman but they were super patient with her. They gave off no condescending energy at all (and I've seen that from other instructors before, especially towards novices and/or women). But Bo and Mike had her shooting on target and I could tell she was so happy and proud of herself by the end of the day. I really appreciated their kindness towards her, they went the extra mile! Southwest is just good people is all I can say. 10/10 recommend for your pewpew instructional needs.

I try to support small local businesses whenever I can, especially ones in my own neighborhood. In early January I stopped into Addax Tactical while I was out riding my e-bike with my dog. The staff were friendly, they were cool about my dog being there, and they even let me bring my bike inside. My first impression was positive. A little later I went back to order a rifle. I wanted a Henry Big Boy .357 Lever Action Rifle. They didn't have it in stock, and I was told it would take about two to three weeks to arrive because the SHOT Show convention was coming up. While doing the paperwork, I also decided to purchase a Ruger 10/22 so I could complete both purchases with a single background check. I left a deposit of about $1,200 toward roughly $2,000 total for the two rifles. Both rifles are very standard models that most gun stores typically have available or can obtain quickly. I could have easily purchased them elsewhere, but I made a deliberate choice to support a smaller shop in my neighborhood and was willing to wait the extra couple of weeks. Based on the timeline I was given, I expected the rifles to arrive by late January and to have them in my possession by mid-February after the required 10-day waiting period. That didn't happen. After three weeks I called to check on the order. Nothing had arrived yet. I waited another week and called again. Still nothing. The responses were always very casual, with little explanation other than that the rifles had been ordered. Around six weeks into the process, I was told the Ruger had arrived but they hadn't called because they assumed I wanted to pick up both rifles at the same time. I went in immediately and started the paperwork to take possession of the Ruger. During that visit I learned something that had never been mentioned before: the Henry rifle had not actually shipped yet, and the shop generally places firearm orders in batches rather than ordering individual rifles. This was the first time I had heard that, even though the original estimate had been two to three weeks. At that point I agreed to upgrade to the octagonal-barrel version of the Henry since I had always wanted that model anyway, and I was told the change would not affect the delivery timeline. After the 10-day waiting period I picked up the Ruger and again asked about the Henry. The answer was still that it had not arrived yet. By this point we were about eight weeks into the process, with no clear timeline. About a week later I called again and received the same answer. At that point I decided to cancel the Henry order and request a refund. I was told the refund would come from accounting and that I should expect a check in two to three weeks. After two weeks I called again and was told it could take up to 30 days. I eventually went to the shop in person to check on the refund. This time I was told I could not bring my bike or dog inside, even though I had been there several times before with both and it had never been an issue. Eventually I received a call saying the refund check had arrived. For the sake of transparency, I'm writing this from memory without the receipts directly in front of me, so the dollar amounts may be off by a few dollars either way, but the numbers below are very close to what was paid and refunded. When I picked up the check, the amount returned was about $370 out of the roughly $1,200 deposit I had paid. That means that after roughly 12 weeks, the final outcome of this transaction is that I effectively ended up with a $830 Ruger 10/22 -- a rifle that typically sells for a few hundred dollars at most gun shops. Even assuming some type of restocking fee, it's difficult to understand how that result makes sense, particularly for a rifle that, according to the shop, had not even shipped yet when I cancelled the order. I went into this purchase specifically because I wanted to support a small neighborhood business like Addax Tactical and was willing to wait longer than usual to do so. Unfortunately, after the delays, the lack of clear communication about how orders were handled, and the final refund outcome, the entire experience ended up being extremely frustrating. If you're considering ordering a firearm here, my advice would simply be to make sure you clearly understand the ordering process, timeline expectations, and refund policies before leaving a deposit. Posting this simply to document my experience so other customers know what to expect when placing a special order here.
