I have passed this place for years on my way to the zoo or for a run in the park, always thinking it can't be as inviting on the inside as it looks form the outside, places like this rarely are. Today I got a chance to try it and was really pleasantly surprised by what I found. Inside is small; you are greeted with a small hatch, almost like a kiosk within the cafe where you order your (extremely good) coffee and what ever treat catches your eye. The treat in my case was a home made coconut cookie - it was huge and beautiful and tasted as good as it looked. Around the walls are tables with not massively comfortable chairs, but good enough for a quick tea or coffee and a chat. The atmosphere is relaxed, the surrounds old and attractive, the costs not prohibitive. Now that I know what it is like I'll be back - though I bet it gets mobbed during the summer! read more

Cute. Cute. Cute. Little pergola type building in the middle of the park, all nestled away under the trees, out of sight, like a little fairy tale house. They are famous for their scones, but also make a great wrap, panini and sambo, as well as a ridiculous and mouthwatering range of sweet treats, ranging from little stacks of macaroons, to big creamy slices of cake. The setting is wonderful, the food is good, the staff as mentioned before are probably not the friendliest, but to be honest, I don't care. It's a joy to sit here and watch the families queue up for the zoo, or the ducks get lost, or people get pushed along by the wind, their umbrellas catapulting them along. Recommended for a cosy rainy day or a lazy sunny day. read more

Situated in a Victorian building near the zoo. Inside is v pretty. This place looks lovely no matter the time of year but my favourite is Autumn when the leaves are falling. If you're lucky grab a window seat and enjoy the view. You don't feel like you're still in Dublin. I always tell people to come here if they visit Phoenix park, and that they have to get the lemon cheesecake (if it's available). SO good. There's nice vegan selections as well! This place does get super crowded on the weekend, and will have lines out the door. The one thing that's weird is that the people who work here are always extremely grumpy. Think staff dropping the plates onto the table when serving you grumpy - and no smiles given grumpy...and glares when you ask for an extra utensil grumpy! I think it's just what you have to deal with to get amazing cake. read more

What a cute little place. This is where I started a first date [see my review of Romayo's to see how my date was ended. I'm a classy burd.] I literally only ordered a Coke Zero, but my date ordered a coffee and as someone who was not a fan of coffee in general in Dublin [mainly due to the bad tasting American and British chains] he really liked the coffee. They have an array of sambos, cakes, sausage rolls etc. It all appears reasonably priced. This place is tinchy tiny but a real God send on a cold rainy day in the park and you need a little shelter. Staff friendly. Toilets on the outside. They really make the most of the space and being in the park and facing Dublin Zoo I'd say they make a killing. So probably not the most accessible place during busy times. read more

We'd been to the zoo and just got out in time to have something to eat across from the exit. It's a really cute little gardenshed meet cottage nestled in amongst the trees. There are seats inside and out. When you enter you're met with the counter/hatch facing the door. They had all the cakes and tray bakes laid out to draw me in. However, we ordered our food I had a chicken baguette and my boyfriend had the all day breakfast sandwich which you got a free hot drink with. Unbeknown to us and the staff, when you check in with Yelp you get 10% off of your bill. The woman at the counter was a bit scary and when I went back to order cake she looked at me as if I'd made up the offer when I'd shown it to her. I ended up ordering chocolate polenta and orange cake, I'd spied it when we went in and it was served with whipped cream. It was delicious! It was a little cold but sunny when we visited but we still sat outside and enjoyed the view down part of the park, it was a really good place to end our trip to the zoo at before getting the bus back into Dublin. read more

This cafe is located inside the Phoenix park and it's near to the Wellington Monument. The service is great, the ambience is minimalistic, and the food that they serve is amazing. I had a basic ham and cheese sandwich and also tried the pesto chicken roll to balance the flavours and they were amazing. For your sweet cravings they have ice creams, cakes, and pastries. If you actually crave for something sweet and you like chocolate and Oreo, then their Chocolate Oreo muffin is a must try. It's too good! read more

The perfect spot for a cup of tea after a long stroll in Pheonix Park. The place is small, cosy and cute (decorative tea cups everywhere, fresh flowers on the table...). As mentioned in the other reviews the staff is not the warmest but you can stay as long as you want. They offer a wide variety of cakes and hot beverage. I was told by a friend, I should check out the Tea Rooms in Phoenix Park, as they do lots of GF treats which sounded pretty much like my place to be ! So I met a friend for coffee / cake at the Tea Room the other day. I have to say I was stunned by the variety they actually offered, mostly places have 1 or max 2 options for me but the Tea Room doing an great job by offering way too many options that I really had to decide what to take cos all looked so mouthwatering and tempting - little sweet coeliac heaven ! I had a raspberry/chocolate/ cheesecake with a cappuccino which was just a delight and with the nice company of my friend and chats could not be a better afternoon. As I am living in the area now I defo gonna be back for more soon, cos this place is just great, they also do take away's if prefer to have your own picnic somewhere in the park! read more

Came here during a nice weekend afternoon in Phoenix Park. The place was slammed, since it was a warm, sunny day. The line went out the door and took about 10 minutes to get to the order desk. Our order came out quickly. We both ordered paninis (mine was €5.70), which were both simple but tasty. The coffee was also good. I tried the Victorian Tea Kiosk (also known as the Phoenix Park Tea Room) and I was surprised at the selection. They have various types of teas and coffees (I had a solid cappuccino) and treats as well as other food (light sandwiches, etc.). Service is friendly, despite the constant flow of people. This is a great place for a stop, but be warned, everyone has the same idea. On a nice sunny day, there is usually a queue. If you are cycling, the cafe near the visitor's center, in the center of the park, is also nice and a little larger. read more

The menu here looks divine, lots of fresh vegetables and salads in all the dishes. They have wraps, panini's and soups. On cool or wet days it's nice to sit indoors and have a warm soup and brown bread and the other day the selection was roasted mushroom or leek and sweet potato. I opted for the latter which came with a lovely little brown bread slab. Totally the best brown bread although the soup was a bit peppery. Don't understand why kitchens have to over-season soup but it seems to be a regular thing in Dublin. Outside, the tea-rooms you have a lovely picnic area and the zoo is very close by. I can almost imagine sitting here in Victorian times watching horses and fine ladies and gentlemen strolling up Chesterfield Avenue. Nowadays what you will see is traffic and lots of joggers, dog walkers, tourists and locals. Still it's a lovely place to come to after a busy day shopping in the city center or just to meet up with friends or to stop in after a run. Staff on the day must have been having a wee bit of a bad day as I didn't see a smile in evidence but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the day. read more

For a place that probably makes solid business, I think they should make more of an effort. That said, it's not bad. Everything I had tasted ok and wasn't too pricey. Here again I didn't see anything appropriate for a child, luckily mine decided to sleep through lunch so I didn't have to deal with this issue. The venue itself is really pretty and cosy, there was lots of room for our buggies outside etc. I didn't think anything I had stood out, it was just adequate food, and the service wasn't too bad, nor too good. read more

I wouldn't class the staff as friendly, in fact I'd go so far as to describe them as gruff and it can be difficult to get a seat but the setting and the food do kind of make up for all this. A breakfast panini and a coffee for €6.50 is great value for what you get. Just beware, they don't have debit / credit card facilities so in the Phoenix Park Tea Rooms, cash is king. Visited the tea room in the Phoenix Park last weekend the yes vote for equal marriage was just passed so there was a great atmosphere there, It was actually my first time there (shock) we got two cappuccinos and cakes that were made there the total came to 12€ I usually hit Costa coffee for my caffeine fix and two coffees alone come to near that so the tearooms is great value be defiantly returning great spot for a nice coffee and cheeky cake read more

The tea rooms in Phoenix Park are a really cute little cafe just outside the zoo in the Park. The tea rooms look like an original Victorian tea room. It is mostly people visiting the zoo who will stop here for a cup of tea or coffee- and in my case, a slice of their lovely carrot cake- but if you're out for a walk in Phoenix Park, you should definitely stop by. They have a few tables outside, which are usually packed in summer and a few tables inside, did I mention it's a very small place? The staff are very friendly and make great coffee, It has a nice, friendly, relaxed atmosphere and to me is the perfect spot for a break when you're out in the Park. read more

I run on Sunday in Phoenix Park and finishing a run at Phoenix Tea Rooms is always good. They serve paninis, sandwiches, some salads and a lot of sweets. My opinion is that it is a bit overpriced though. Also, matcha latte is very bad here, completely tasteless. But overall place is very cute. read more

The services has always been cheery and engaging but since becoming a coeliac, they're so helpful and accomodating. I have been three times at least since I am living in Dublin. I normally go after running in the Phoenix Park. It is closed to the zoo and it is small but really cute. I am sorry I can t give you more information about food, I always have coffee and scones. Those scones are the best ones for me. When there is an opportunity to go there and have a coffee or tea, the night before I am dreaming of those scones. If you are planning a visit to this part of the city, don t miss Phoenix Park Tea Rooms. The inside is lovely with details all over the place in an octogonal plant building. Excellent coeliac options. Flourless chocolate cake is absolutely amazing. They also have a fantastic gluten free cheese cake. A little crowded, but the setting (in the park amidst the trees) makes up for it. Reasonably priced, given the location. read more
