The room was clean and the beds weren't too bad. The bathroom had a shower/bath and some bar soap. The WiFi was free and worked good. You can get breakfast for a price, but there are so many food places nearby, there really is not need to have the hotel breakfast (try Flanagans on O'Connell). I would definitely stay here again, the location really is excellent and the price is right.

Overall, the room was okay and you can tell it was refurbished... but again for the price, it didn't seem justified. No parking, breakfast is not included and again, still about a 30 min walk to the downtown/ temple bar area.

To get the cheapest itinerary it made sense to have a layover in Dublin, even though it was truly never on our must-see list. We had no regrets! Although Dublin is cold/windy/was even hailing during our May 2016 stay here, it was worth a 1 night layover (and a great way to adjust with jetlag before the big trip began). As for the Maldron, it is imperative to take a Taxi if you are traveling with any more than 2-3 people, because it ends up being cheaper than taking the airport bus. I believe it was about 35 Euros for the cab ride each way, a smooth 35 minute ride. The hotel is a bit aged but had recently been gutted. It is clean, in a safe, quiet (Extremely quiet) neighborhood. If you enjoy walking, it is an easy 15-25 minute stroll to the main downtown area and restaurants. There is also a tram within 5 minutes of the hotel. We found that late at night it was difficult to get a bite to eat near the hotel and thus had to walk into the main strip/downtown area. The hotel staff are kind and quick to respond to any requests and issues. One note is that when going to the airport, if you want to save 2 Euros hail a cab yourself, because any time you have to call ahead of time for a cab the 2 Euros fee is charged!

Right in the heart of Temple Bar, it's within easy walking distance of Trinity College, Grafton Street, Dublin Castle, countless pubs and restaurants, and many of Dublin's top attractions. We hardly needed transportation the entire time we were there. The Morgan is a boutique hotel with a modern feel, spacious rooms, comfortable beds, air conditioning (not always a given in Europe), and updated bathrooms. Everything throughout the hotel was spotless and well maintained. One concern about staying in Temple Bar is the late-night noise, but it wasn't an issue for us. Our room (#217) overlooked the back of the hotel, and we slept soundly every night. The staff was consistently warm and welcoming, and we especially enjoyed the restaurant team that greeted us each morning for a traditional Irish breakfast. They were a wonderful way to start each day. When we return to Dublin, I plan to stay at The Morgan again.

Our king deluxe room on the fourth floor had all the modern features including bedside power and a sleek marble bathroom with both a tub and separate shower. Our room rate (€700) for a one night stay in early June included breakfast. The room was fairly quiet and very clean. We rented a car for the rest of our trip around Ireland so reserved parking ahead of time through the concierge. The ever so friendly Bell Captain, Stephen, met us at the front and directed us just around the building corner where he took care of the car for us. Couldn't have been easier.

The water in the fridge was complimentary. There is also a Nespresso machine, hot water kettle, tea, instant coffee, hot cocoa, and some Irish biscuit. The lobby area is nice if you need a place to read, work, or just hang. It's very nicely lit with many outlets. It seems to be quite busy every time we walked by but not an overload of people. There is a sign that only hotel bought foods can be in that area. There is a bathroom downstairs which is quite nice.

Third hotel, third city. We did have a few issues with the hotel before checking in (we were in…read moreMunich when I got a message from the hotel through the booking app, telling me that they were about to cancel my reservation as they couldn't successfully run the card I had on file. A few frantic phone calls later, it turned out to be an error on their part, which they never once apologized for or explained. That definitely left me second-guessing our stay, but it was too late to cancel, and given the holiday timing, hotels in the city were either sold out or incredibly expensive.) The exterior of the hotel is incredibly appealing. The whole area is quiet and quaint, and the look of the building is welcoming and oozes charm. Our cabbie helped us drag our heavy bags up the steps to reception, where we interacted with the only friendly person to work there. We checked in and made our way to the designated elevator, dragging our luggage and ourselves along in a single-file line to make it down to our room. The hallways are tight, folks. The room itself was large and comfortable, with one queen and one twin bed, a small desk and chair and an armchair positioned in front of the one window. The bathroom was a bit tight - you can't open the door without hitting the toilet - but the shower had great water pressure, and they kept the toiletries filled during our stay. I have two very large gripes about the hotel itself. The first is the WiFi, which performed about as well as a dial-up modem did (am I dating myself?) There were moments where we'd get decent connection, but it never lasted. The second is the paper-thin walls between the rooms and the hallways. I get that hotels don't use the best in sound insulation, but people, the walls here are awful. Getting a full night's sleep can be a challenge. Let me paint a picture. We went to bed on our first night at a decent hour but were awoken after 2 am by a group of they-really-should-know-better-adults walking down the hallway towards their room. They were in the middle of a very loud, very angry-sounding conversation when they hit our floor, and it persisted all the way down the hallway. For several minutes. Then one of the ladies couldn't get her key to work, so there was much more swearing, followed by a guy telling her to give him the goddamn key already, and storming off in search of a receptionist, I'd wager. They stood in the hallway long after the guy returned with a functioning key (or functioning brain, not sure which). They sounded like they had no intention whatsoever of moving on, and like they were nowhere near winding down for the night. Enter my new hero, the grumpy old man across the hall. He opened his door and yelled out, "What do you think you're doing? It's late, and people are trying to sleep. GO. TO. BED." Like they were unruly children. I loved it. One lady tried to apologize, and he bit out, "NO, you don't apologize. You're all loud, inconsiderate and rude. Shut up!" before slamming the door. It was all I could do to not cheer and applaud the man. Other than that, the beds were comfortable, and we really did love the area around the hotel. It's a quick and super easy walk from the hotel to the closest train station (Landsdowne Road). If you're taking the train to Dublin, cross the train tracks and walk up the ramp (look for the coffee shop; if you see that, you know you're on the right side.) Coming back from Dublin, you'll be on the opposite track. Easy peasy. It's also a quick and easy walk from the hotel to the cute little town down the road. That leads on towards Dublin Bay, which offers a lovely walking path, park, and some shops and restaurants along the way. Everything is very easily walkable in that direction. They also have a good restaurant/bar within the hotel (Lineout Bar), as well as another, higher-class option that we did not get a chance to sample. They do breakfast - again, we passed - and have several small sitting/relaxing areas dotted around the building itself. We would stay again, if the price was right. We'd just pack ear plugs to ensure a good night's sleep.

The hotel was in a fairly residential area of Southern Dublin. It was an affluent area, with a cute village (Sandymount) a short ten minute walk from the hotel. A few minute further walk landed you at a coastal beach. Our check in was smooth and staff friendly. They ensured our room remained the same from our separate reservation, to the one booked under the tour group. The layout is a little bizarre, with rooms on different branches of various floors (so it was a little hard at first to even figure out where our room was). Our room was quite spacious and included a Dyson hair dryer (a VERY nice feature), a fancy coffee machine and waters. Our bathroom was small, but typical by European standards. The water pressure was not great and there was an odd sign specifying the need to 'ask for assistance' if a guest wanted to run a bath in the bath/shower combo. There were many cozy nooks in the main area, where you'll find little couches and chairs to lounge in and visit with others. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant our first night. We enjoyed our meal (the food was decent), but service seemed a little distracted and slow. We enjoyed their bar (The Line Out bar), who made me a delicious Bailey's hot chocolate (though I had to kind of walk them through what I wanted). The bartenders were pretty willing to be guided through cocktail preparations not readily familiar to them. We purchased breakfast our first morning there and learned that a main difference from the tour-included breakfast is that you get your own little pot of brewed coffee served to your table; for the 'tour breakfast,' you have to get your own coffee from a large coffee urn. As far as European breakfasts go, this hotel had a pretty large number of options and everything I had was tasty. I would definitely stay here again if I were in this area of Dublin. It is definitely more affordable than options in the central, downtown area of Dublin.
