We got a couple of quotes and ended up going with Dardon based on their far better rates, timely communication with some of our specific questions, and the glowing reviews of a previous customer who spoke with us over the phone about his great experiences with the company. Oscar, Quintanilla and the team did a fantastic job of working in our somewhat cluttered space to do all of the installation and clean up. The whole process, including dry wall repair, took about 12 days and we now have blissful, cool air coming into our home. They did a great job, everyone on the team was so friendly and nice, and we couldn't be happier with the results! Highly recommend using this company if you need spacepak in your home!

They were quick to schedule on site and they brought a large crew of professionals that knocked it out in less than two days. Generally, it was a very positive experience, with one minor issue of troubleshooting some weird humidifier problems that took longer than it should have. But they ultimately made it right, so I would recommend them as a best value HVAC contractor in Chicago.

Disorganized. Dismissive. Deceptive…read more That is how we would characterize our experience with Connstruct. The list of issues we could bring up is extensive. PLEASE read the Home Repair pamphlet that is available on the Illinois attorney general website. Read your contract carefully. Our supposed 3-4 mo project had an online schedule that was rarely correct. Completion date was pushed back at least 5 times. (Example pics attached). We're in month 7. Still no useable kitchen. We started working with Connstruct mid 2024. The permit process was prolonged as we needed a variance. Experienced contractors that have worked on older homes would have known this and not wasted time getting rejected for a regular permit. There was an online schedule but we brought up that things were not proceeding per schedule. We were told this was just a guideline, and that weekly email updates would be provided so we could know what was happening with our home. These updates rarely came on time, if at all. When we dared to call the company out on their inadequate communication, things got worse. We were told we were "over involved." Any request had to be made multiple times. Most lien waivers had typos. I had to send multiple requests for accurate invoices after payments were made. It took months to provide a list of subcontractors (see #10 in the aforementioned consumer rights pamphlet). After months of asking for samples (flooring, decking, trim, siding), we were bullied into quickly choosing a floor stain that wasn't what we wanted, otherwise it was our fault the project was delayed. I asked for receipts for material orders. These were rarely provided. Thank goodness my husband knows a lot about construction. Almost every part of the project has had to be done twice due to mistakes. On my own, I would have been left with a substantially subpar outcome (though some mistakes were pretty obvious, see pictures). The safety of my family, my home, and my pets has been disregarded, with the original "lockbox" for the key being a brick in the backyard. I've come home on multiple occasions to find doors unlocked. The week of spray foam insulation install, it was mentioned as an afterthought that we should not be home (since it is initially toxic). This also wasn't done correctly the first time. I had to scramble to remove 3 pets from the home for the entire day on short notice, twice. I asked for a heads up if workers were coming on a Saturday. It's scary to wake up to unexpected men in your house at 7am. This request was also largely ignored, despite the head contractor stating that he would be upset if his wife woke up to that situation. Daily trash clean up didn't happen. Trash piles ruined our yard with shards of glass and metal. When concerns were brought up, we didn't get explanations, or even good excuses. The more we called them out, the worse things got. It was obvious that many email communications were AI generated, with vague answers without dates or specifics. When I asked for non AI generated communications (some people have trouble processing this type of information), the owner immediately became defensive and my request for improved accessibility was dismissed. This degree of disregard and lack of professionalism has to be called out. I've heard too many stories from other women who've also been treated differently/poorly by a contractor. This shouldn't be the norm. It shouldn't be tolerated. Long story short, if: you're looking for someone to remodel part of your older home but you're a busy professional you appreciate timely & detailed communication you value the safety of your home & family you don't appreciate being gaslit - Do yourself a favor, find a different company. I'm sure there will be a defensive reply from the company. They've already told me I'm unreasonable. But take a look at my Yelp profile. I don't leave 1 star reviews. Feel free to reach out if you need more information. I have quite a bit more documentation I'm happy to share.

This company's work also looks good from afar but the details are bad. This was our second time making major remodels to a home and the experience was night and day. Business owners who treat their clients this poorly do not deserve to keep getting work. Absolutely disgusting. Also, watch out for any replies from him trying to claim that he finished his work with us and we are asking for something new now. He strung us along for over a year taking 9 extra months for the original project while the whole time planning for additional work that at the last minute he wouldn't do (he just kept saying he would send the formal contract along and never did--and now he's bailing with our home still a construction zone and well over 8k in new bathroom materials he had us order just sitting around). Take a look at how he left our home. He is a liar and a cheat. We are probably going to have to take him to court now. Stay far away!

Mark Kawal steel sided all exposed concrete block on the roof area parapet walls, the stair towers and created a ten foot steel flashing on the North facing wall of the building to prevent water from entering the condo building and individual condo units. Mark also diagnosed a water leak problem on the South facing wall involving water entering a second floor Condo. Mark installed flashing, repaired a poorly installed sliding door track and tuck pointed and sealed the exterior brick to solve the water leak problem. Mark and his crew did an outstanding job solving the buildings' water leaking issues. His work is top notch and most important, after several storms, Mark personally followed up to be sure that no water problem reappeared. We have also used Mark to construct decks at the building, replace security doors, install a water diversion system between our building and our neighbors building, and to perform masonry repairs to the building. Mark Kawal and RMC Development is a top notch company that does exceptional work while able to problem solve and come up with creative solutions to complex problems. As the President of our Condominium Association, I highly recommend Mark Kawal and RMC Development.

From selecting the right blinds for every room all the way to installation, we were in good hands. Our home is a 1920s bungalow on a corner lot and we really wanted window coverings that provide privacy while also letting in all the natural light we get during the day. Mike presented us with a great solution for our living room, also in a fabric that matches the interior of our home. For the rest of the rooms, Mike helped us zero in on great blinds in different styles that work with our home and also fit our budget. On that note, Mike was a straight shooter when it came to pricing and helped us find the styles we liked at prices we can afford. He also offered straightforward advice on where it made sense to invest in higher tech blinds, and where it made more sense to save our money. After we made our selection, Mike returned to install our custom blinds at a fast turnaround, and kept us informed about estimated arrival in the meantime. Our blinds have made a great addition to our home and we highly recommend the services of Mike Iverson at Chicago Shadeworks.
