Pretty good find in the Atlantic City area. For a Sunday morning, it was decently busy. We were greeted and seated pretty quick. I ordered the Cheese Steak omelet, that came with hash browns and toast. If you know me, I always order my hash browns well done. Also ordered an ice water with lemon. Food came out fairly quickly. The omelet was very good, just had a few too many onions for my liking. I wished it had mushrooms, but I guess I could have asked for them. The hash browns weren't as well done as I prefer, but overall the food was good. Two of my pet peeves were achieved here, too.. One was a fresh glass with a fresh lemon wedge was bought to me for my refill and the ketchup bottle didn't have old, dried up kepchup under the cap. Overall, our experience was very positive. I have no idea where the good reviews of this place came from. I came here for breakfast because it was one of the only places around and it has good reviews, but that was a big mistake. The service was fast, but the food was absolutely terrible! The pancakes I had actually tasted like rubber, and the coffee tasted like water. My date got an omelette and said it wasn't good either. Only plus is fast service and the waitress was okay I guess, but the food was so so so bad. Maybe lunch and dinner is better? But please don't come here for breakfast. read more

I was so upset I had left my phone inside of the hotel room, couldn't catch the details of this place . First of all the warm welcome upon arrival, truly makes your morning brighter from the female employees. My bacon and cheese omelette was to die for ...I was in omelette heaven . They used more than enough bacon , which was shocking most places are scared to put enough bacon. The homefries was good on top but mushy on the inside . Definitely not a problem I'll remember to say Crispy all over next time . And my chocolate cake was freshed and baked to perfection. Food was good and pretty fast, I don't understand the charge for peppers and onions but they have a business to run. As others have said, this is your typical Jersey diner. I wouldn't say to avoid this at all costs or anything, but I wouldn't suggest making it a point to do so. I'm not sure if my palate has changed as I grew older but the food seems more lackluster than ever. Breakfast is acceptable, though their homefries are dry and lacking any flavor - talk about sodium overdose just so you can consume them, lol. Breakfast sausages are huge and pretty tasty. I've always found their portion of cheddar cheese inside omelettes to be quite stingy. Their burgers are downright atrocious and their sandwiches and wraps are just ok. The wrap ends up being a bit gummy. In this area, there isn't a ton to choose from and Phoenix is easy to get to. But do yourself a favor and check out the 5-6+ brunch spots around that do a way better job of producing quality food in a more homey environment. read more

The diner is a great stop before getting to Atlantic City. You'll find cheaper prices than the boardwalk and probably better service. We arrived on a weekend for brunch. While most of the parking lot was crowded, there was still plenty of seating. Our food arrived quickly and our service was decent. The Phoenix diner was at first impression from the outside, a good place. When we first arrived inside we were greeted with a very weird smell, for drink I got chocolate milk, which arrived with chocolate sauce that I had to stir in myself, sitting here right now the booth is old and moves when you lean back. The drinks arrived with no straws which is not good for little kids. The small size for drinks were outrageous and to get bigger costed more. The food was below average, the French toast looked good at first glance but all the apple filling led to soggy French toast that tasted too sweet. The cheese omelette was average and the potatoes were very bland needing salt. The strawberry crepes had a fantastic presentation, but in the end were too tart and drenched in chocolate sauce. For a NJ diner I'm very disappointed. The staff was friendly though. I'd give two out of five stars. read more

Bad Crab cakes and terrible results from management. We ordered crab cakes with alfredo sauce. We had our salads and tasted the pasta Alfredo all good. Both my wife and I did not like the crab cakes. The waitress came over and took out plates. We asked to speak to management. She came over and said "nothing I can do the waitress threw out the food " What?? My advice - don't visit this restaurant. Had breakfast here and it was delicious and a HUGE portion! I was pleased with how cheap it was too. For two people with full entrees the total was roughly $18. Typical NJ diner on Route 30 West heading away from Atlantic City. The past two times I've spent the night in AC, this was breakfast the next morning. A sizable diner with faux-Greek trappings (both the columns out front and the spinach pie-gyro-souvlaki offerings) dishes out massive portions of so-so food at quick speeds. Breakfast foods and sandwiches alike are neither particularly good or particularly bad (a French dip was dry, even with with the ramekin of better-than-expected au jus; creamed chip beef on toast was especially bland, but the accompanying home fries rounded out the dish pretty well), but it's a satisfying meal to start the day (and the drive back North) read more

I had the Athenian salad, which was a huge portion and we ordered mozzarella sticks and buffalo chicken strips for appetizers. My family got burgers which were cooked just right. The fries could have used a little seasoning but I guess it was better than being over salted. Just a side note, if you want coke slaw, you have to ask for it. Which they don't tell you. 24/7 Diner! I was looking for a place to eat at 2 AM and I found this place using Google. I ordered an omelet with chili and meats and I loved it! I have no complaints about the omelet. The omelet also was served with toast and a hash brown. The hash brown could definitely be better; it could've been crisper and it needed more seasoning. My girlfriend got a burger and the beef needs more seasoning too (I tasted the burger). The portion of food was excellent. I was very hungry walking into the diner and the portion satisfied even me, a big eater. The value is very good considering the portion served. Our check was about $20 for two people. The service was excellent too, but keep in mind that I was here 2 AM and we were the only party there until we nearly finished our food. Interior is clean and tidy, good atmosphere. Overall, excellent 24/7 diner. I would definitely return when I want food in the early morning. I think this place is better than Denny's overall, but Denny's has a better hash brown. read more

Diners are always a good option for late-night eating after a night out. This diner is not too far away from Atlantic City, although unless you're severely craving diner food, then I would stay away. The waitress got several of our orders wrong (annoying b/c we were one of maybe 2 tables here). The yellow American cheese on our cheese fries nearly gave us a sodium attack, and the toasts were over-buttered. I did like my Greek omelette though - perfectly portioned and tasted good without being over-filling. Although our waitress got a few orders wrong, she was still a highlight of the trip because she definitely gave good service and she was very sweet to a very over-intoxicated friend at the table. I was in town for one night playing a show with my band in AC. We wanted to eat an early dinner and found this place online somehow. Against my better judgment, I decided to order some sort of chicken wrap instead of breakfast food. This wrap was hands down the worst food I've ever paid for. It was extremely bland and the chicken was rubbery, which leads me to believe it was boiled instead of grilled, baked, or broiled. I might have been able to get beyond the texture if the thing had any flavor, but it didn't. The one smart person who bought breakfast food got an omelet. But that person happened to be a vegetarian, ordered one of their standard omelets with the omission of any meat, and the first one came out with meat in it. The waitress took it back and brought a meatless one out later, but everyone else was already disgusted with what they had ordered. That person did say their omelet was good though, so I guess that's a plus?? Their menu was huge, which is probably what lead to the majority of the dishes we got being sub-par. It's better to make a few things perfectly than a lot of things poorly. In short: Go somewhere else. If you don't, just make sure you order standard breakfast fare and you MIGHT be alright. read more

Stopped in on a whim for breakfast with my daughters and have always felt that nothing beats a diner breakfast. However, our experience at Phoenix Diner was disappointing. The pancakes had absolutely "NO" flavor! The syrup was gooey, had "NO" flavor and was not sweet. The French Toast was burnt in spots. The scrapple I ordered tasted like "EVERYTHING" else fried in the same oil. I was given a choice when I ordered a side of bacon. Regular or crispy. Should've known better. I went with regular, but it came so crispy that it was breaking into pieces just by picking it up. So I sent it back for regular. Not a good choice. That came back so greasy, that the saucer had a bed of bacon grease. Horrible! Being a caterer and restaurant owner, I admit that I do not like bad reviews, but it is all a learning experience and you cannot please everyone. My advice to the cook, preppers and owner...caring about what goes on in the kitchen before sending it out to the customer, will provide a better dining experience and less negative reviews. Stopped in with a co-worker after the lunch rush and we each had breakfast. We were greeted very warmly by the hostess. I had the French Toast with Italian Sausage and my co-worker had the ham and cheese omelette with the home fries. I was very pleased with my French Toast. It was 6 thick slices powdered and not only did they taste really good but they smelled good when they put them down. The Italian Sausage was one huge link that was split down middle. Nice presentation. It also was very tasty. My co-worker loved her omelette and was almost dancing while she was eating it. The coffee was good. The prices were very reasonable for the portions they served. The service was very good and friendly. I've been to many diners over the past several months and this one was a notch or two above the others. Is it the best diner in NJ?
