I've been here many times and it's always been really good. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is spacious and service is quick and the food is always delicious, especially the pho.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My favorite is the oxtail pho. We recently did takeout and I decided to try something different. We ordered the white fish, the pancake And the spring rolls with duck. It was really delicious, especially the fish. The pancake was a nice surprise and unique. It's a great neighborhood spot

The food and service is always superb. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the fish tank and they seem to have an area for a DJ and or stage for performers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I accidentally ordered a Diet Coke but they gave me one without caffeine.

I came here on a summer day when it was particularly hot and humid. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant smelled dank.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I thought maybe the A/C or exhaust was broken.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then the waiters came out. Not sure if they still work there now but they did not smell good. They are of a certain ethnicity which is different from the cuisine. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I feel really bad to say that it gives me poor hygiene vibes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did place my order nonetheless, for takeout. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I had to leave the place because it smelled like dirty laundry.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I did comeback to pick up the order. This maybe gross but I still ate the food and was still delicious. I'd be wary to go back again. The lady owner (I suspect) was very friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I wish the place cleanliness would be better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

lovely food, even lovelier people -- the staff were SO kind!! the pho was reasonably priced, especially for the substantial serving size, and perfecttt for a cold winter day. can literally never go wrong. complimentary green tea and all the right sauces!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]spot is accessible af (not too far from the train or free parking) and cozy.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I came here on a Wednesday evening with my partner. I was in the mood for some bun bo hue because of how cold it has been in Chicago. I ordered the pork and shrimp spring roll as an appetizer to start us off because I was really hungry. The sauce that came with the spring roll was a little weird to us so we ended up using hot sauce that was on the table. The Bun Bo hue was really good. I wish they had the pork knuckle or pork blood in there but other than that, I don't really have any complaints. The soup was really good and then there was a good kick of spiciness in every slurp. I was really satisfied by the end of the meal. My partner just had the regular pho with flank steak, but in a large size. He was super satisfied, so that was a good sign. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is really big but I guess when we went at 8pm they had closed off half of it since there weren't a ton of customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The owner was really nice and our orders were taken pretty quickly. I will definitely keep this place in mind whenever I'm in the area because the noodle soup that night really slapped.

This is my friend and I's go to Pho place on the North Side!!! We've been multiple times and they don't disappoint. It's a family owned restaurant with friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We did a walk in, which we usually do it's rarely super packed.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Heads up, they didn't have wine this time. Not sure if it's a new change going forward or it was just that time.

. Prior to attending an event at The Aragon Ballroom, my best friend and I had dinner at this restaurant. We both chose to have large bowls of Steak Pho accompanied by duck spring rolls. The Pho was delicious, featuring a richly flavored broth and savory steak. Our server was a friendly young woman, and the gentleman who assisted her was also helpful. [[HIGHLIGHT]]While the restaurant could use some updates and better maintenance of cleanliness, I would be happy to dine here again.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Came here late on a Tuesday night for a take out order. I ordered the Chao Vit (basically a rice porridge congee soup). It contained shredded duck, green onions, cilantro, ginger, and fish sauce. I actually ate it for lunch the next day, but after heating it up it was still delicious! I want to come back here and try their other many dishes. Definitely a plus that they're open a little bit later than some other local Viet spots. They have a huge dining space, and it appears they must have karaoke and other events since there is a stage in the back. Will be back!

After searching google for good restaurants on Argyle, we decided to eat here. I had rice with grilled pork chop and sunshine egg, and my partner had steamed rice noodles with grilled beef and shrimp. We split the spring rolls. First, the portion sizes were on the larger side, which pleasantly surprised us. Second, the spring rolls came out almost immediately, and the rest of the food came out within 10 minutes of ordering! The grilled pork chop was divine - perfectly seasoned and juicy. The freshness of the steamed rice noodles created a wonderful lightness to balance out the beef and shrimp, which were both cooked perfectly. There were so many dishes to choose from which originally seemed daunting, but now that we know you really can't go wrong here, it just means we have to come back again to try more! P.S. You have to order the coconut drink - you drink straight from the coconut and it's so refreshing.

Well, it is kind of tucked away in a desolate area on Canal Street, but still. One of my good friends suggested we check this place out after hearing about it from a co-workers. The only thing I know about Vietnamese cuisine is pho (which for some insane reason, I've never had) and banh mi, which I tried (and loved) while visiting my fave cuz in the Bay. . I arrived early to this very large, beautifully decorated venue on a Tuesday night and was intrigued by the set-up. One side was all tables, the other side was tables and multiple gigantic screened tvs playing Family Feud and the World Cup games. Kinda crazy. I chose to sit on the big screen side while waiting for my date. He called to say he was running late and to get the order started. I had been waiting a bit, so i caught the eye of one of the workers, who came right over. He was so friendly and accommodating and answered all questions. I ordered the green Thai kumquat iced tea, spring rolls and the chicken wings he highly suggested. He rushed off to place the order. Moments later, a couple of distinguished gents walked in and sat at a huge round table cater-corner from me and soon thereafter the nice man who took my order sat down with them. I'm assuming he was the owner for obvious reasons. I gained more respect for this establishment because customer service goes a very long way with me and he obviously cared about that. Our server, a very friendly young lady, brought my drink out and I was surprised to see that it was served in what looked like a sippy cup, with a cartoon design on the lid. Kinda weird seeing as I am an adult, but it was a tasty beverage, nonetheless. My friend showed up as the spring rolls and chicken wings came out. We devoured both, which were delicious and then placed our orders. I went with lobster noodles and my friend got the beef tenderloin pho. Even though my entree presentation wasn't the best, it was a very tasty dish to both of us. The beef tenderloin pho was definitely the star of the show! The broth was fragrant and flavorful and the beef was tender beyond measure. I'm an avid ramen fan but this pho definitely had my attention and I can't wait to try more. Ocean Bar and Grill is such a cute, quirky place that caters to date night diners, groups and families. They were all in there that night and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I know I did. I'll definitely be taking my daughter when she comes home from her summer internship!

Creative Vietnamese Brunch with Standout Wings, Though the Egg Coffee Missed the Mark…read more HaiSous remains an enjoyable spot for a more modern take on Vietnamese cuisine, with quick, efficient, and friendly service in a polished setting. We came for brunch right when the restaurant opened, and it was only about 25% full, which made for an easy and relaxed meal. The crispy chicken wings were excellent -- fried well, nicely seasoned, and easily a go-to order. The bánh xèo was also very good, served hot and fresh with a crisp shell and plenty of filling, though I would have appreciated more leafy greens and herbs for wrapping. The bánh canh cua, or crab noodles, had genuine flavor, a nice spicy balance, and was served piping hot. The crab meat is broken up into the broth, so you do need to drink the spicy broth to get the full benefit of the dish. The beef papaya salad was just alright. Compared with other papaya salads I've had, I wanted more sourness and tartness to give it that sharper, more authentic flavor profile. The biggest disappointment was the cà phê trứng, or egg coffee. After having the real thing in Vietnam, I was excited to try HaiSous' version, but the coffee was not strong or bitter enough to create the right contrast, there was not much beaten egg, and the drink was overwhelmed by a large amount of whipped cream. It came across more like a very sweet dessert coffee than a faithful egg coffee. Overall, we enjoyed the meal and would come back. There are some misses, but the stronger dishes -- especially the wings, bánh xèo, and crab noodles -- make HaiSous worth trying for a creative Vietnamese brunch or dinner.

The spring rolls came as a pair, both long. Everything was packaged well. Both dishes were very fresh with great flavor. PHO BO (BEEF) - 16.95 +3 for extra ribeye The broth was really strong and flavorful, very meaty and beefy. However, the noodle to broth ratio was a bit too high for me. I really liked the broth too, and there wasn't much of it after the noodles sucked it all up. Adding the extra ribeye beef helped balance it out, which was a good call for me that night. My friend got the "Not BBH" and didn't really like it, and her roommate absolutely despised the Korean Style Dumplings. Definitely get the beef pho at Phodega because it did the job for me besides the overwhelming amount of noodles.
